Chuck D. Sounds Off On Growing Tensions Between Police & Citizens, Criticizes Media Coverage In Newly Released Interview


When recently interviewed by Billboard, Chuck D. did not hold back when asked about the recent violence between law enforcement and citizens happening on almost a weekly basis Nation wide.  The Public Enemy alumni is quoted as saying  “WTF. That was my first reaction. I mean, do you have the words for things like that? I had no words for what happened in Baton Rouge.  I still have no words for it,” Chuck D. said. “And in Falcon Heights they went and covered that woman’s boyfriend Philando Castile that just got killed — I was even more silent. And then I totally had no words for what happened in Dallas…,” replies e rapper when asked of his initial reaction to the growing controversies, senseless deaths and retaliation against Law Enforcement.  He also shared how he sees media giants irresponsibility in airing or airing and editing actually first account video.  We’re in the era where a picture tells you a thousand words, but now we got a thousand pictures and it doesn’t do that,” Chuck D. snapped. “You got a thousand pictures per person out there in the world. I just thought that was lazy low-fi journalism.”  The outspoken legend is advocating for media to have the discipline to stick to facts in their reporting regardless of what the outcome may be.
