Study shows a lack of diversity among writers for HBO, Disney and MTV

A recent study by the Writer Guild Of America showed a lack of racial and gender diversity among writer for television networks including HBO, Disney and MTV.  For the 2011-2012 television season only 30% of the writers were women and approximately 15% of the writers were minorities.  The study looked at 28 television networks it showed that BET has the best diversity, 55% of the writer were women and 95% being minorities.  42% of MTV writers were women and 22% were minorities.  Other networks such as FX, USA network, Fox, Cartoon network and HBO had under 22% women writers and minorities.
