Joey Bada$$ is one of the biggest rappers in New York today and during a new interview with DJ Whoo Kidd he talked about turning down a deal with his Idol, Jay Z’s Roc Nation. “Then when I got older I got into high school, started stepping my bars up. I only wanted to be signed to Jay Z. It was crazy that I made it happen in two years, literally from 15 to 17, I was already in the Roc Nation elevator going up to the 39th floor.” Joey goes on to explain that he thought back to Jay Z decoded book where he talks about meeting Russell Simmons to sign to Def Jam and how he didn’t want to sign to him but wanted to be him.
