As reported a while back De La Soul is making a comeback into the music scene via a Kickstarter campaign. Today the Kickstarter wrapped up for their project with a final backing of $600,829 from a total of 11,169 backers. The group at only wanted to raise $110,000 at first but ended up with an astounding $180,974 after just 24 hours. "We are now in the process of going back to that 200+ hours of music, listening, enjoying and discovering those special moments where, musically, something magical happens, where interesting sounds and layers were forgotten, where new sounds can be sampled, looped, chopped, filtered and arranged, freely, without the intrusive presence of publishing politics and the infamous 'sample police.'" The group posted on their Kickstarter. So it seems De La Soul still has hardcore fans willing to shell out a ton of money for them to continue making music and we can’t wait to see what they deliver in the near future.
