White Hip Hop for Suburban Kids

White Hip Hop
At this year Grammy Awards white rapper Macklemore album “The Heist” beat Kanye album “Yeezus” for album of the year. The Grammys show a statistical preference towards white artist.  Hip Hop music for white is more about a certain sound, story or style than it is about skin color.  White hip hop music is more about poppy beats, suburban stories, articulate flow, sensitivity and hooks.  Notable rappers such as Will Smith, Drake, early Kanye, The Creator, Childish Gambino and Earl Sweatshirt are often accused of making white music.  Earl describe his music as being “Too black for the white kids, too white for the black kids.  Hip Hop blogger TRUTH Minista Paul Scott claims Drake is so white  that his music is “tarnishing the legacy of real Hip Hop”.
He thinks Drake is out of touch with the black culture and he should be ban from using the n-word.  Other Hip Hop artist such as Lil Wayne and Rick Ross uses the n-word but they use it appropriately.  What make Drake music less black than other rappers?  Some say the American ghetto stories, drug slangin and gunplay.  These topics is what distinguish black music from white music.  Using those topic to define black hip hop is problematic. Rap songs with lyrics about drugs, gangs, pimps and hoes and the sexiness and dangerous lifestyle is what executive believe is what the white audience craved.    In 1991 it was recognized that suburban white men consume around 80% of hip hop music.  Describing hip hop as black or white come from this cultural disconnect and it an entirely mean of comparison.   Stereotypes is what help white people dismiss the violence and poverty in the black communities as if it’s black people own fault.  People see black kids to equate articulate styles of speech as “white” instead of a sign of intelligence.  Hip hop music is well established and accepted art form.  We should support real hip hop music whatever you believe that to be.  Stop talking about blackness and whiteness as if the were sounds.

P Diddy bids $200m for fuse TV station

1-diddy-dep

P. Diddy has reportedly bid $200 million for a TV station.

The 43-year-old music mogul is one of several investors who have entered talks to acquire cable channel Fuse, which is currently owned by New York-based Madison Square Garden Company (MSG), and incorporate it into his Revolt TV channel, which is backed by Comcast Corp. (CMCSA), three sources told Bloomberg.

According to one of the sources, if Diddy – whose real name is Sean Combs – purchases Fuse, Revolt TV will gain wider distribution and higher subscriber fees. The channel currently reaches around 22.8 million US homes and is carried by Comcast and Time Warner Cable Inc. (TWC), compared with the 74 million audience Fuse currently reaches through pay-TV systems including Cablevision Systems Corporation (CVC) and DirecTV (DTV).

MSG refused to comment on the speculation as talks are still “ongoing”.

Their spokesperson, Kimberly Kerns, said: “As we have stated, we are exploring strategic alternatives for Fuse, and will have no further comment during what is still an ongoing process.”

As well as Revolt TV, Diddy’s business interests have also included clothing lines and fragrances, restaurants and he recently jointly purchased an upmarket tequila company.

For the latter venture, he again teamed up with Diageo PLC – with who he has a joint marketing and profit-sharing deal for Ciroc vodka – to acquire luxury alcohol brand DeLeon for an undisclosed sum.

Diddy said: “With Ciroc, we dated. Now with DeLeon, we’re married. This deal is way better. This makes me a true owner.” – Bang Showbiz

Jay Z and Roc Nation Sports Agency may have violated the rules

Jay-Z_11-15-2012
An article has been written about Jay Z and Roc Nation Sport Agency.  The article mention certain rules that has been questionable pertaining to violation of certain rules.  The article also talks about the quick success of Jay Z in a very competitive industry.  Jay success has cause a stir among others in the industry.  Others in the industry are complaining behind closed doors and publicly.  Grievance can be filed against Jay such as violation of Players Association Regulations.  Jay Z has been accused of tortious interference.  Jay once mention during an radio interview that he once received a letter regarding a claim of tortious interference for trying to  recruit Lil Wayne to his management label.  Tortious interference is a common law claim and typically occurs when some one “intentionally and improperly interferes with the performance of a contract…. between another and a third person by inducing or otherwise causing the third person not to perform the contract.  Roc Nation has five athletes that they are representing.  Three were formerly represented by other agents.  Kevin Durant, Geno Smith and Robinson Cano.
Did Jay approach these athletes and have them nullify their agreement with their former agents so Roc Nation can represent them.  That is the question being asked.  If Jay is found to have communicated with these athletes and have them terminate their existing relationship with their former agents Jay may be liable for tortious interference.  June 2013 Roc Nation Sports publicly announce that Jay has been certified as a player agent by the MLBPA and NBAPA.  Jay is not certified with the NFLPA even though there are two NFL players that has sign with Roc Nation.  Another question being asked is did he violate NFLPA by acting as a runner rather than a player agent or contract adviser.  NFLPA say that certified Contract Advisors  would be subject to discipline by the Association if they use, associate with, employ or enter into a business relationship with any non-NFLPA certified individuals in the recruitment of prospective player-clients.  Jay plays a major role in recruitment of potential client and he is not a certified individual.  It is also known that Jay had clients signed to the agency while he still had ownership in the Brooklyn Nets.  The major sports leagues players association have regulation which stipulate that owning a business that already does or may present a conflict of interest is prohibited conduct.  Owning a professional team likely presents a contemplated conflict of interest for the agent.  In June 2013 Jay sold his stake in the Brooklyn Nets.  People outside of Roc Nation are wonder if Jay has been maneuvering around the industry unethically.  Their are plenty of other agents to raise suspicion but Jay is know worldwide so he quickly become headline news.
