Female rapper Yo Yo grew up in Los Angels, California.  She begin performing when she was in middle school.  While in high school, a fellow student (T-bone of Da Lench Mob) saw her perform and thought she should meet another rapper who could help her career.  The other rapper turned out to be Ice Cube who at the time was in the process of leaving N.W.A and was looking for a female artist.  Yo Yo said when she met Ice Cube, she had a feminist mentality.  She came up in a era where N.W.A. was saying a b*itch is a b*itch which she did not like.  Yo Yo said all her song was like  Queen Latifah (U.N.I.T.Y).  When Ice Cube and Yo Yo did the The Bonnie and Clyde Theme sad said “I got a down ass Ni**a on my team”.  He didn’t say “I got me a down-ass b*itch”.  He tried it, but i was like, No, you’re not going to call me a b*itch”.  He went in and change it, which was mad respect”.

Master P was born in New Orleans but grew up in Richmond, California.  He believe he had the best of both worlds.  He learned street life in New Orleans and he learned hustle life in the Bay area.  Master P went from one project to another.  The founder of No Limit Records put ever thing in his music.  He represents both sides New Orleans and Richmond in his music.  Master P said “I’m Bout It’, Bout It” was a product of having something to prove to the world.  He lost so many homies to the streets.  He said “he got the chance to put what am doing on record. “I wanted to represent where i am from and who i am”.  Master P said “the record Mr Ice Cream Man is about getting your hustle on.  Taking 15 cents and turning it into a dollar.  The ice cream man always came to my neighborhood making his money”.  Being able to be a hustler but also being able to be loved by the people in the community that is buy your product.

Rapper Lil Wayne owes over $12 million in unpaid taxes

Lil Wayne is the latest entertainer who owes the IRS money.  On March 3, a tax lien was put on Lil Wayne because he owes over $12 million in unpaid taxes.  The tax lien states the the rapper has not paid taxes for the year 2011 and 2012.  He owes $5,843,952 in unpaid taxes for 2011 and $6,311,132 for 2011.  The rapper earned $15 million in 2011 and $27 million in 2012.  He made the top 5 of Forbes Hip Hop Cash King list in both of those years.  In 2012 the rapper paid back taxes for the years 2008 and 2009.  Producers Deezle and David Kirkwood has sued Lil Wayne and his record label Young Money for unpaid royalties.

Jimmy Henchman trail witness recount long running feud with G-Unit

The outcome of Jimmy Henchman trail for murder really does not matter.  Jimmy is already going to spend the rest of his life behind bars for running a multi-million dollar cocaine ring.  The trail do give us an insight into a New York hip hop feud that went on for more than four years.  The feud result in the shooting death of Lowell Fletcher an associate of 50 Cent.  The trail which begun about three weeks ago will have it closing argumenton Monday in a District Court in Manhattan.  Former members of Jimmy gang has taken the stand describing the long running feud between Jimmy and rap group G-Unit (founded by 50 Cent).  It is believe that the feud started in early 2005.  That is when on live radio 50 Cent expelled The Game from G-Unit for releasing a debut album.  The Game and his entourage confronted 50 Cent at the station and shots were fired.  Also in 2005 Jimmy  associate Mohammed Stewart did a  a retaliation shooting in the entrance of Mr. Lighty company, Violator Records.    In December 2006 while at an Mixtape Awards at the Apollo Theater Tony Yayo accosted Jimmy and started yelling at him about The Game’s insults.  Apparently a member of Yayo entourage flashed a gun and Jimmy group left out a back exit.  It is believed that a few days later Sean Comb (Diddy) tried to broker a truce between Jimmy and Mr Lighty but the two men started scuffling and Combs had to break up the fight.  The feud got worst in 2007 when Jimmy then 14 year old son was assaulted by Ton Yayo and Lowell Fletcher (member of G-Unit entourage).  Mohammed Stewart said he spent many night with Jimmy staking out 50 Cent, Tony Yayo and Mr. Lighty, looking for a chance to shoot them.  Jimmy was not satisfied with the punishment the two men received for the assault so Jimmy pursued revenge for the next two years against G-Unit.  During this time he was shooting up homes and torching cars of his enemies testifies Jimmy’s former associates.  On September 27, 2009 Jimmy set in motion the shooting of Lowell Fletcher.  Jimmy said he was in Miami at the time of the murder and that he never explicitly told his associated he wanted Mr. Fletcher to die. People believe the dispute between the two groups helped sell the albums of both 50 Cent and The Game as the both release insulting raps about each other.

Arby’s paid $44,100 (at eBay auction) for the Vivienne Westwood hat that Pharrell wore to the 2014 Grammy Awards.  Arby’s puchased the hat to help support Pharrell non profit organization From One Hand To Another.  On March 2, Pharrell posted on twitter said “Thank you to whoever bought my Grammy hat on @eBay for $44,100.  Your donation benefits From One Hand To Another”.  Someone ask Pharrell how he feels when he is called a genius.  He said  “I am not. All my work is a direct reactiion to meeting all these very interesting people with whom I’ve collaborated.  Learned so much about their processes and who they were, and thier vibes have inspired me”.  Pharrell say “he is thankful that people have seen something in me”.  I’m smart enough to listen to other people, but nowhere near a genius”.

Jake One talks about making beats for Drake

Jake One talks about how he created the beats for Drake’s “Furthest Thing” song.  Jake experimented with the Pro Tools for the drum and reinterpreted the sample on “Furthest Thing”.  The song is track two on Drake’s  “Nothing Was The Same album”.  Jake was informed by fans that Drake follows him through social media.  Jake a Seattle native reach out to Drake through social media then later sent him beats to review.   During a years time Drake selected a bunch of beats and that was the one that end up making it onto the album.  Jake  has also created production for T.I, 50 Cent and Rick Ross.

While at a Knicks game in New York, 50 Cent confronted Steve Stoute (ad exec). During the week Stoute did an interview with station HOT 97. Stoute said that “the Queen, New York rapper is no longer influential due to the fact that he believes the musician hasn’t released a hit record since 2007 “I Get Money”.  Stoute claims 50 has not had a hit in a really longtime.  He feels 50 is gearing up for something that never happens.  Now that 50 is an independent artist there is not record company to blame.  Stoute said Kanye release 3 or 4 albums since 50 Cent “I Get Money”.   50 Cent release a video response by channeling the “When Keeping It Real Goes Wrong” skit from Chappelle Show and incorporating a scene from the movie Juice.  “When Talking Sh*t Goes Wrong” clip.

Ray J song “I Hit It First” The Game denies recording a verse for the song

Ray J song “I Hit It First” was suppose to be a diss to Kanye West.  It was a way for Ray J to bring light to his past relationship with Kim Kardasian and their public release sex tape.  TMZ release an early demo version of a verse accompanying instrumental Game did for Ray J song “I Hit It First”.  While Game do not make any direct mention to Kim, he spoke on sexual activity with an unnamed woman on a song directly inspired by Kim Kardasian.  The Game denies recording a verse for the “I Hit It First song.  On March 2nd, The Game confronted the situation tagging on Complex Music tweet.  He explained that TMZ took an old verse from something else and put it on the song.  The Game also tweeted RT@complexmusic:Did@thegame drop a verse on I Hit It First? man stop, some 1 took a old verse & put it on there.  The Game also denies dating Khloe Kardasian.  Him and Khloe has known each other for 12 years.  He did say he dated Kim for a little while.  Right now he is just friends with the sisters.

Shooting At CIAA Party With Diddy, Future & Fabolous Emerges

Charlotte Mecklenburg police was called around 1:59 am Sunday morning to the Sheraton Hotel located on the 500 block of South McDowell Street.  The police was called because two people was shot at the hotel where a party was being held for CIAA(basketball tournament) fans.  The party featured several big names in the music industry including Future, Fabolous and Diddy.  The party was being hosted by AG entertainment out of Atlanta.  Police say an altercation in the main ballroom at the hotel result in two people being shot, both was shot in the leg.  The victims were a 33 year old women and a 35 year old man.  One victim was treated at the scene while the other was taken to the hospital.  There were several others people received treatment at the hospital, they sustained minor injuries while trying to leave the hotel.  During the tournament in the city center 12 adults was arrested.

Gun fire erupted outside the Velvet Room Night Club in Atlanta, Georgia where Rick Ross album launch party was being held.  Apparently a DJ who was working at the night club opened fire on two off duty police officers.  Before the DJ turned on the officer, he was shooting at other.  The two officers who were working at the club returned fire and hit the DJ in the leg.  The officers took action to protect themselves and others.  No one at the launch party was involved.  Sean “Diddy” Comb is thought to have been caught up in the shooting.

Da Brat has been order to pay $6.4 million to victim in bottle attack

Atlanta female rapper Da Brat (Shawntae Harris) has been order to pay $6.4 million to a women she attacked with a rum bottle. The attack took place in 2007 at a Halloween party at Studio 72 a club owned by Jermaine Dupri.  Da Bra attacked Shayla Stevens a former Atlanta cheerleader and waitress.  As a result of the attack, Shayla sustained lifelong brain injuries something that will never go away.  Da Brat served nearly three years in prison for the attack.  Later Shayla filed a civil suit and which on Thursday she was awarded $2.7 million in punitive damages and $3.7 million in compensatory damages.    Da Brat lawyer think to amount in damage is to excessive considering the prior punishment (prison) and the fact that she owned up to what  had happened.  Da Brat 39 is still on probation for the attack.

Suge Knight Trustee/Death Row want Dr. Dre $3 Million law suit dismissed

Dre Dre is suing his former record label Death Row Record for $3 million for back payment of mechanical royalties, producer royalties and digital sales.  The trustee for Death Row Records and Suge Knight who is overseeing Knight bankruptcy case want the suit dismissed.  The trustee claims that Dre already tried to collect the money and lost and the decision is not subject to appeal.  Document shows the two-year statue of limitation has passed since the defendant claimed they have not release any of Dre music since 2009.  Motion states Dre suit should be dismissed without compensation.

Taraji to star in Fox’s new drama Empire(pilot show) will reunited her with Terrance Howard

Taraji P. Henson is best know for her role in The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button (she was nominated for an oscar) and her current acting gig in the CBS drama Person of Interest.  Taraji will be playing the role of Cookie Lyons, the ex wife of Lucious Lyon play by her Hustle and Flow co-star Terrance Howard.  Lucious Lyon, Howard character is the head of a record label and the center of the drama.  On Our Own former star Jussie Smollet will play one of the couples children.  The show will be produced by The Butler’s Lee Daniels and The Game Change’s Danny Strong.  No air date has been determined.

Richard Lugner a businessman in Austria paid Kim $500,000 to act as his date and attend Vienna Annual Opera Ball. While trying to take a picture with Lugner, a man dress as Kanye West in blackface ran up on Kim. The man harassed Kim so she decided to leave the Ball before her time was up per her contract agreement. She also claimed that her date Lugner tried to get her alone and he was too aggressive. In a separate incident a man asked Kim to dance. She declined saying she could not dance very well. Then the man (who appears just as racist as the impersonator) said would you dance if the orchestra played N***ers in Vienna, a play on Kanye West Jay Z helmed N***as in Paris. Kim abandon the effort. Kim reality show shooter has the whole incident on tape.

Jermaine Durpi has been hit with a civil lawsuit for $1 million

Eddie Weathers a former business partner of Atlanta-bred rapper/producer Jermaine Dupri has filed a civil lawsuit against the him.  The suit was filed because Weathers said he was not paid for a merger of Dieniahmar Music a company in which they both created in 2005.  Weathers also alleged that Jermaine did a co- publishing deal with EMI Music in 2006 and which he should have been name as a co-owner.  Singer Mariah Carey manager was listed as the sole owner, Dupri and his business manager Willie Carter received 100% of the royalties.   When Durpi told Weathers he was going to sell Dieniahmar Music to EMI in 2013 he allegedly promised to give Weathers $238,000 but he was only given $10,000.  Court documents states that Dupri, his manager and Dieniahmar Music owes Weathers $250,000.  $1 million is what Weathers is seeking in damages.
