[expand title=”More MBiz” tag=”h2″]

While information is releasing, sources with the San Francisco Police Department told TMZ that they responded to the sound of gunfire. While 2 Chainz reportedly gave the assailant(s) his wallet, the Based On A T.R.U. Story album-maker opted not to provide authorities with additional information about the robbery and shooting. Reports at present indicate that nobody was injured.

2 Chainz has not released a statement on the incident. He was in the Bay Area for a Summer Jam concert. The Playaz Circle member did retweet a fan, who mentioned the shooting on Twitter:

The police said that one member of 2 Chainz’s crew reportedly fell to the ground after a shot was fired and the group scattered. The member who fell was then approached by the suspect, “who robbed him of an unknown item and fled the scene,” according to the police. The police also said 2 Chainz’s crew is “being very uncooperative” in the investigation and that a suspect has not been located.

Toomer said that 2 Chainz was robbed of his wallet and a cell phone.

Radio.com reported earlier today that a member of 2 Chainz’s entourage was robbed, but that 2 Chainz himself was not robbed.

Kanye West Reportedly Enlists Rick Rubin, Makes Late Changes To “Yeezus”

kanyewestalbum

Thirty years after co-founding Def Jam Records, Rick Rubin reportedly comes in as a last minute executive producer to help the label’s biggest artists, Kanye West with his album “Yeezus.”

[expand title=”More MBiz” tag=”h2″]

Kanye West is known to work extensively with co-producers. Whether it was Fionna Apple/Aimee Mann composer Jon Brion’s work on Late Registration, producer Jeff Bhasker’s many contributions on 808’s & Heartbreaks, or more recently, Scarface/Devin The Dude producer/engineer Mike Dean’s work since My Beautiful Twisted Dark Fantasy, it is not uncommon for Kanye to share credits in his album inserts.

The New York Post’s “Page Six” gossip column reports that this month’s Yeezus is no exception to West’s collaborative ways. The newspaper alleges that sources close to Island Def Jam informed them of iconic producer Rick Rubin’s involvement in the last several days. Said to now be an executive producer of Kanye’s sixth solo album, Rubin, who co-founded Def Jam Records in a New York University dormitory room with Russell Simmons 30 years ago, is aiding the label’s 2013 priority.

The Post claims that with the June 18 release date just over a week away, the last minute changes are a reaction to mixed reviews from press listening sessions of Yeezus. Additionally, Def Jam Records is allegedly concerned about one of the album’s songs, said to be called “Onsite.”

The song reportedly samples a Chicago, Illinois church choir compromised of children. With the original sample believed to be recorded by The Holy Name of Mary Church Choir, label adminstration was working to clear the song’s rights as recently as last Friday (June 7). With concern over legal issue, West reportedly recorded a new version in New York City this weekend.

Much of Yeezus was recorded in Paris, France. Though Kanye West continues to premiere songs at live events, including last night’s Governor’s Ball in New York City, the tracklist of the album is still unknown to the public. Chicago’s Chief Keef claimed that his contribution to the album is secured, making him a lone confirmed guest.

Before working with West this month, Rick Rubin’s Hip Hop contributions date back to the early 1980s. In addition to his acclaimed label work with Def Jam, Def American and more recently Columbia Records, Rubin has produced seminal material for the Beastie Boys, Run-DMC and The Geto Boys. Having worked extensively with acts such as Slayer, Johnny Cash and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Rubin returned to Hip Hop in the last 10 years to produce single tracks for Lil Jon & The Eastside Boyz as well as Jay-Z’s “99 Problems.”

Neither Kanye West nor Def Jam have not yet confirmed the collaboration.

Two Mothers Of Nate Dogg’s Children Fight Over Child Support Payments

Mothers of Nate Dogg’s children are arguing over child support payments from Nate’s estate.

Two separate mothers of Nate Dogg’s children are fighting each other in court over child support payments from Nate’s estate.

[expand title=”More MBiz” tag=”h2″]

According to TMZ, Rhoda Mouton asked a Los Angeles Superior Court judge to deny Omena Norris’ request for an increase in child support payments for the child she had with the West Coast hook singer back in 2006.

All coming from legal court documents that were filed last week, Mouton (who had a son with Nate) claims Norris lied in her filing when she claimed that her son received no Social Security payments from Nate Dogg’s estate. Mouton claims that Norris and her son receive $694 per month.

According to Mouton, Norris lied about the amount and since she cannot adequately state why she needs her support bumped up from $1,624 to $1,846 a month, the judge should just throw out her case until Norris can file a correct request. Mouton even says she believes the judge should lower Norris’ support down to $802 per month.

A judge has yet to rule on the matter.

Rapper Eldorado Red Indicted In Lil Phat Murder

Eldorado Red, a former collaborator of Lil Phat, is among five men indicted in the murder of Lil Phat.

Rapper Eldorado Red has been indicted with five others for the murder of Lil Phat, which occurred last summer.

[expand title=”More MBiz” tag=”h2″]

The news is particularly disturbing because Eldorado and Phat had collaborated together on several songs, including multiple tracks on the former’s McRado’s 2 and the latter’s Return of the Mob mixtapes.

Dirty-glove.com reports that Eldorado was arrested in Fulton County, Georgia on Tuesday (June 4th), and is being held without bond.

ABC News has obtained indictment papers that name Red, real name Gary Bradford, along with Mani Chulpayev, Maurice Dewayne Conner, Deandre Washington, and Decensa Xavier White, claiming they “unlawfully, while associated with a criminal street gang, participate criminal gang activity through commission of an offense… to wit: crimes of violence including Murder, Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony…”

Eldorado Red has collaborated with artists such as Big K.R.I.T., Waka Flocka Flame, Yo Gotti, and Scoop Deville.

Chulpayev was accused in April 2013 of hiring hit men to kill Lil Phat because of the rapper’s apparent knowledge of shady car deals. Chulpayev reportedly has ties to the Russian mafia.

In June of last year, Phat was fatally shot outside Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. He was shot several times in a parked car on the second level of a parking deck. He was 19 years old.

Tyler The Creator Met With Protests In Australia

tyler-the-creator

Odd Future frontman Tyler, The Creator just started his Australian joint tour with fellow Wolf Gang emcee Earl Sweatshirt this week, but his appearance in the Pacific country is already brewing controversy.

[expand title=”More MBiz” tag=”h2″]

A feminist group called Collective Shout is protesting Tyler’s visit to Australia stating in a post on their website:

Tyler the Creator promotes hate speech against women, perpetuating male entitlement to use women’s bodies, to regard women as “bitches”, “sluts” and “hoes” for their sexual use. Tyler the Creator’s glorification of rape and violence against women could be considered inciting his fans to commit violent crimes against them.

It is our hope that you would consider the best interests of Australia, including the safety of our female citizens. We ask you to act urgently to revoke Tyler the Creator’s Visa so that he cannot promote his misogynistic attitudes to Australian audiences.

Collective Shout has requested that Australia’s Minister for Immigration and Citizenship revoke Tyler’s visa effectively kicking him out of the country.

The always outspoken Tyler took to Twitter to address his Australian critics.

There have been several issues involving American Hip Hop artists’ concerts in Australia over the last few months.

In April, the Nas headlining Movement Festival was cancelled in part because scheduled performer 2 Chainz was not granted a visa, and that same month the annual Superfest Tour featuring T.I., 50 Cent, and J. Cole was postponed by the show’s producer because of “difficulty completing venue contract arrangements.”

Tyler and Earl are still scheduled to perform tonight in Melbourne and tomorrow in Brisbane.

Kanye West Selling NYC Apartment For $4.5M

Kanye_West-Sample-hhdx

Can Kanye West really do anything in secret? The G.O.O.D. Music rapper/producer and soon to be daddy is selling his New York City bachelor pad for a cool $4.5 millions, and now we have photos.

[expand title=”More MBiz” tag=”h2″]

Reports the New York Post reported about a week ago:

Kanye West is secretly selling his Soho bachelor pad — equipped with a bizarre bathtub and statues of children — for $4.5 million.

The apartment’s strangest feature is in the master bedroom, outfitted with a slender basin just five feet away from West’s bed.

“It’s the height of a normal sink, but it’s a huge, long, granite object, probably about 9 feet long but only a couple of feet wide. At the front is a sink,” said a broker who toured the space yesterday.

“It was long and extremely narrow and very artsy-looking.

“The apartment is amazing. If you like modern and sleek spaces, this is it.”

The master suite’s walk-in closet also contained more than a dozen pair of expensive sneakers, mainly Air Jordans, the broker said.

At the entrance, visitors are greeted by a narrow hallway with a statue at the end.

“It looks like an angel, or a little boy Cupid, and it’s on a raised platform,” the broker said, adding that there is a similar statue in the living room.

While the fourth-floor unit at 25 West Houston St. is not officially listed, West’s agent held a tour for the city’s top brokers at the apartment yesterday.

Well, all of Yeezy’s stuff is out there so he can unload the crib. Besides the apartment in Paris, there is also thep lush, $11 million mansion in Bel Air, Calif. that we assume he and Kim Kardashian will be settling into shortly.

Check out flicks of the apartment–mocks up from its designer Claudio Silvestri–in the gallery.

Confessor In Alleged Notorious B.I.G. Murder Plot Escapes Prison

1-claytonhill

Clayton Armstrong Hill, who has confessed to being an accessory after the fact to the murder of Notorious B.I.G., has reportedly escaped from prison.

It has been reported that Clayton Armstrong Hill has escaped from a prison camp in Atlanta, Georgia. Hill, who has confessed to being an accessory after the fact to the murder of Notorious B.I.G., is currently on the run from law officials.

[expand title=”More MBiz” tag=”h2″]

U.S. Magistrate Judge Russell G. Vineyard has signed documents noting that Hill walked away from the prison he was in last week.

“I was notified by officials … that inmate Clayton Armstrong Hill walked off the grounds,” Deputy U.S. Marshal Clay M. Cleveland noted in an affidavit, as reported by Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “A bed count was conducted to verify Hill’s status, and at approximately 6:40 p.m. Hill was identified as missing.”

A report of the escape can be seen below, courtesy of WSBTV in Atlanta, Georgia.

Hill was in a medium security prison after pleading guilty to charges of more than 100 fraudulent federal income tax returns in the mid-2000s. In July 2011, Hill confessed to being an accessory after the fact to the murder of Notorious B.I.G. in his memoir Diary of an Ex-Terrorist, and he shared more about it in a feature with HipHopDX that year. He said that the Nation of Islam was involved with the plot and cover up of the murder, sharing how he was an accessory after the fact after helping a man who claimed to be the shooter.

“I guess he felt comfortable so he began to talk about why he was on the run,” Hill shared regarding the alleged shooter. “Dawoud explained that he had put in the ‘work’ on Biggie. I gripped my steering wheel tighter but stayed silent, allowing him to continue to talk. He explained that he was a member of the Bloods and said it was [for] what happened to Tupac [Shakur] who was a Blood and a Muslim. ‘And I made twenty five ‘g’s’ off that.’ He patted his front pants pocket to emphasize his point which I noticed was bulging. ‘So where you headed to next?’ ‘Philly. The brothers up at #12 are expecting me.’ He was making reference to Muhammad Mosque #12, the infamous home of the Black Mafia.”

Turk Says That He Doesn’t “Know” The Lil Wayne Of Today

1-Turk

Though Turk still has love for former labelmate Lil Wayne, he can’t relate to him anymore.

During the near-decade Turk spent in prison after his2004 arrest for shooting a Memphis, Tennessee SWAT team member, the rapper’s former labelmate Lil Waynewent from New Orleans phenomenon to international pop success.

[expand title=”More MBiz” tag=”h2″]

With that success came change, as Lil Wayne’s wardrobe and musical tastes changed vastly – something Turk commented on in a G14 Radio interview.

“Yeah, Wayne…that’s like my little brother, but we grew apart,” admitted Turk. “I got my own movement. I was just locked up. If I had been out, it would’ve been the same result. …I think my thing gonna go farther. I got people that can relate to me, and I can relate to. I’m not Michael Jackson, I ain’t weird, quote-unquote. Some of these dudes out here, you can’t even touch ’em, you can’t even talk to ’em.”

Turk touched on the subject of Lil Wayne’s alleged drug use, relating it tow his own heroin addiction. “I used to be in a circle where I was caught up in some drugs. I used to do heroin, cocaine. I used to shoot heroin and cocaine like an old nigga, when I was fifteen, sixteen, because no one tell me nothin’. So the only thing I can say about that situation is when you’re under the influence… anything can come out your mouth. Don’t necessarily mean that’s the type of person you is.”

Ultimately, Turk revealed his belief that the Lil Wayne fans see on TV today isn’t genuine. “Wayne’s like a little brother to me. That’s not Wayne. When I see certain pictures of Wayne, I know that’s not Wayne,” he concluded. “I’d rather not even talk about the Wayne that’s happened today. I don’t know that Wayne. I can’t speak on that Wayne.”

Gucci Mane Encourages Chief Keef To Not Follow In His Footsteps

Gucci Mane talks past regrets and comments on the media making their “own assumptions” when it concerns his run ins with the law.

Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane seemed to take Chicago artist Chief Keef under his wings when he signed the teen emcee to his Brick Squad label last month, but according to Gucci, he hopes that Keef chooses to now follow his path and instead learns from his past mistakes.

[expand title=”More MBiz” tag=”h2″]

As an artist who has found himself engulfed in controversy, the Brick Squad rapper seemed surprisingly reflective during a recent interview with Power 107.5 as he spoke on the regrets of his past before speaking to Keef and other young men who might look up to him.

“I take responsibility for some of that bad stigma that comes from me. A lot of the things I have done, I regret. And a lot of it [I warranted]. A lot of it, it be false claims,” Gucci revealed. “Media take it and make they own assumptions…A lot of things don’t have a lot of truth in them…My advice would be to him [Chief Keef], and any other young guy, is to learn from…try not to do the same thing that I did.”

A picture of Gucci Mane speaking to a group of school children, which went viral several months ago, left many wondering why the rapper was allowed to speak at an elementary school. While the rapper didn’t speak specifically on the visit during his radio interview, he did touch on the youth preferring to hear advice from someone who’s actually in the know as opposed to their teachers.

“I feel like I can tell my story to anyone who wanna hear it,” he said. “Kids don’t usually like listening to their teachers. They wanna hear from somebody they feel likes in the streets or in the know. Got to say something. That’s the only reason I speak…I try and tell ‘em some positive.”
