Ice-T (Allegedly) Files For Legal Separation, Prepping Divorce From Coco

ice-coco

SOURCE: {HIPHOPWIRED} Ice-T may have hit his breaking point. Rumor has it that the Law & Order star has filed for a legal separation from longtime love, Coco, and is one step closer to getting a divorce.

With rapper AP.9 trying desperately to extend his 15-minutes of fame by claiming to have slept with Coco (without protection, no less), Ice allegedly went forward with plans to split from the woman who has been by his side for over a decade. The website Cream BMP claims to have insider information on their relationship. “I can’t unbreak my heart, but I can take that a– back tho,” 55-year-old Ice reportedly said while outside a New Jersey courthouse. “She can have the money, the house, but them t-tties is mine.”

Riiight.

Of course those statement seem so asinine (no pun) that it’s almost laughable, but stranger things have happened.

Ice is a lifelong soldier of love when it comes to Coco. After photos of her and AP.9 were released he had a brief Twitter meltdown, but within 24 hours everything seemed to be back on track. Also, he lashed out at the media for making up stories about his situation.“Daily Game: Bloggers/Media = MEGA TROLLS,” he wrote. Those aren’t exactly the words of a man trying to end his marriage, but he could have had a change of heart.

If so, he wants Coco out of his house by March 1, which really only gives her one day to pack up all her  “red-bottoms”  and stripper heels.

Lupe Fiasco Delivers Angry Rant Against Radio In Maryland [VIDEO]

u-s-alteration-2013-spring-summer-preview-featuring-lupe-fiasco-3

SOURCE: {HIPHOPWIRED} Lupe Fiasco graced the Washington Metro area with his presence once more, performing last night (Feb. 27) at a Maryland venue in the shadows of the Nation’s Capital.  While onstage, the outspoken MC didn’t channel his recent Inauguration weekend antics, but did get a few other things off his chest.

First shared by the Fiasco dedicated Lupend blog, video grabbed by fans showed the Windy City star rocking out at the Fillmore. Pulling a page from fellow Chicago native Kanye West’s handbook, the dreadlocked rapper passionately voiced a variety of concerns while the patient crowd egged him on.

“It be killin’ me when motherf-ckers talk all that ‘man, streets is so f-cked up, all these young dudes is shootin’ at each other, all these young girls runnin’ around reckless’ and all this crazy sh-t. And it be them same motherf-ckers that go on their radio stations and play the motherf-ckin’ songs that [inaudible]. Motherf-ckers sit on their corners saying ‘aw man sh-t is f-cked up’ then they turn up the same sh-t that motherf-ckers in the street and ain’t got no problem ridin’ to it. The sh-t just irks me like, damn I can’t even speak on the sh-t no more. And it’s so ridiculous ‘cause we do it to our f-ckin’ selves.”

Fiasco’s moment was met with a ton of applause, and the anti-radio sentiment was especially interesting considering local station WPGC hosted the event and draped their banner on the backdrop of the stage. It’d be curious to know what the hosts thought of Lupe’s latest rant.

Check out video of the anti-radio rant below. On the next page, Lupe makes an interesting declaration in the name of peace and prosperity, although replete with profanity.

Lil Wayne Bites Back At Pitbull’s Bark

SOURCE: (AllHipHop News) Lil Wayne may be realizing that the Miami Heat supersede him in the pecking order of Miami celebrity. After Miami’s honorary President, Pitbull released a scathing diss record titled “Welcome to Dade County,” directed at the Young Money boss, Weezy took to Twitter to voice his shock and dissatisfaction:

Dam pit bull bro I thought u was kool.

Dam pit bull bro I thought u was kool.

While Pitbull never mentions Lil Wayne’s name directly in the inflammatory record, he makes it clear that disrespecting the Miami Heat while residing in Miami is grounds for a verbal attack:

You talk Miami, if you talkin’ Heat
moral of the story: don’t shit where you eat.

Lil Wayne is not only receiving flack from past collaborators but other Miami music legends. Luther “Uncle Luke” Campbell of 2 Live Crew fame  responded to Lil Wayne’s disparaging remarks to the Miami Heat with an Uncle Luke’s Gospel blog post that called for Rick Ross to speak some sense into the 30-year-old skateboarding rap titan claiming Wayne “”treats Miami like his b**ch because people let him.”

Back in October of 2011, the former king of raunchy rap took to his personal blog to denounce Lil Wayne and others (DJ Khaled and P. Diddy to be exact) for living in Miami and not giving back to the community.

Not one to bite his tongue, Wayne returned to Miami’s 99 Jamz and claimed he never read Luke’s post and actually has never actually met him. The man who has sold in excess of 12.5 million records in his career also feels it has been an anti-Lil Wayne movement since he first arrived:

“Ever since I got out here there were billboards saying ‘Lil Wayne go back home,’ and I never did anything.”

Universal Zulu Nation Pens Open Letter To WorldStarHipHop CEO

Universal Zulu Nation_02-27-2013

SOURCE: {HIPHOPDX} The Universal Zulu Nation calls out WorldStarHipHop and its CEO, reveal plans to bring a WSHH video to the attention of authorities.

With its countless videos depicting random acts of violence scattered among the occasional music video, WorldStarHipHop.com (WSHH) has long faced tremendous criticism for the content seen on its pages. Today (February 27th), WSHH and its founder Lee O’Denat seemed to have gained themselves a new adversary, the Universal Zulu Nation.

In an open letter penned by Universal Zulu Nation Minister of Information, Quadeer “M.C. Spice” Shakur, the organization called out WSHH for its false representation of Hip Hop culture in a letter that’s described as being more than just “another person’s opinion.”

“This is a new year, and the Universal Zulu Nation has begun a movement against anyone who is against us,” Shakur revealed. “Mr. O’Denat, either you are for Hip-Hop Culture, or you are not. There is no in-between, and no matter how many people have hyped you to believe that WorldStarHipHop is anything close to what this Culture is, they told you a lie.”

The letter concluded with a threat to bring a particular video posted on WSHH, which may contain a minor being forced to strip themselves of their clothes, to the attention of authorities. Shakur also ended his letter with claims that O’Denat has in fact worked with federal agents.

“This is not the first time you have posted content that has been of this nature, and from the looks of it, this is probably Child Pornography,” said Shakur. “Therefore, I will forward the link and the video to the proper authorities to be sure that these young people are in fact of age and in full consent of being on your site in such a demeaning fashion. I’m unsure if this will bring about any charges, as there is a huge rumor on the streets that you are in fact working for the feds and are using your site as a cover up.”

Hip-Hop Mogul Proposes “Guns For Greatness” Program Featuring Tickets To Beyoncé & Jay-Z Concerts

michael-blue-williams

SOURCE: (AllHipHop News) Gun violence has become a major social and political issue recently, and now one high-profile Hip-Hop executive is proposing a plan to encourage young people to trade in their firearms for mentorships and concert tickets.

The New York Daily News is reporting that hugely successful artist manager and president of Family Tree Entertainment, Michael “Blue” Williams, sent a letter to the New York Police Department pitching the idea for “Guns For Greatness.” If approved by NYC Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly, William’s program will be the city’s first private sector gun buyback initiative.

“We want to get as many guns off the streets, and if this works, we’d like to support it,” Kelly told the Daily News.

After meeting with top brass at NYPD last week, Williams wrote an open letter addressed to Kelly. The letter was co-signed by Richard Buery (President and CEO of the Children’s Aid Society),  L. Londell McMillan (publisher of The Source), and former federal prosecutor Kenneth Thompson. It read in part:

This program aims to provide young people with an opportunity to receive guidance and inspiration from committed mentors, an important option that will enable them to experience possibilities other than a life surrounded by gun violence and unnecessary shootings and killing.

One way Williams hopes to help get the guns off the streets is by offering tickets to see superstars like Beyoncé and Jay-Z at their next New York concerts.

“The Beyoncé show is coming to Brooklyn; the Jay-Z show is coming to Yankee Stadium. Our goal is to reach out to individuals who are in my industry, in my world and who I have an association with and get their support,” said Williams.

Williams has a long history working in the music business. He has managed Hip-Hop heavyweights like OutKast, Cee-lo Green, and Scarface. He started his managerial career at Queen Latifah’s Flavor Unit, and worked at both Def Jam and LaFace Records. He was also a business partner of the late Chris Lighty.

[ALSO READ: BREAKING NEWS: Sources: Chris Lighty Dead]

It was Lighty’s death last August as the result of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot and his own recent gun charge that inspired Williams to propose “Guns For Greatness.”

“It was just sort of like a pushing point,” Williams said. “It eventually convinced me that one person can make a difference if they believe in something.

Williams says he has already raised $75,000 for “GFG” with the goal of reaching $100,000.

New York has had a city-run handgun buyback program in place for years. With participants receiving up to $200 for each firearm the costs for such a deal can be expensive for taxpayers. Similar programs in San Francisco ran out of money. William’s privatized “Guns For Greatness” could be a financial remedy for cash-strapped city governments.

Kanye West Says “He’ll Be Back In A Couple of Months” With His “New S**t”

kanyesafari

SOURCE: (AllHipHop News) After setting the internet on fire this weekend with a on-stage rant targeting corporations, the Grammys, and Justin Timberlake’s “Suit & Tie,” Kanye West used another European performance to make more news last night.

While performing in Paris, West took a moment to tell the audience that he is working on “new sh*t.” He then went on to say that he will “back in a couple of months.”

West wasn’t specific about exactly where this new material will land. There have been rumors for months that his G.O.O.D. Music clique will be releasing a follow-up to last year’s Cruel Summer compilation. Various G.O.O.D. associates like Big Sean, John Legend, and Malik Yusef  have all stated that they have already recorded for a project that has been reported as Cruel Winter.

With winter drawing to a close in exactly three weeks, it seems that Kanye’s proclamation that he’s returning “in a couple of months” may suggest he’s not referring to G.O.O.D. Music’s Cruel Winter but rather his next solo album.

West hooked up with long time collaborator and mentor Jay-Z for the Watch The Throne joint album in 2011, but he has not released a solo LP since 2010′s critically acclaimed My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

Earlier this month rumors began circulating that Kanye’s sixth album will be called Rich Black American after a screenshot of an iTunes tracklist with the title and seven songs leaked online. The photo showed tracks featuring Frank Ocean, Pusha T, Beyoncé, Florence Welch, 2 Chainz, Big Sean, and Skrillex. The tracklist nor the title have been confirmed by Kanye West or Def Jam Records.

Suspect Named In Kenny Clutch Drive-By Shooting Murder, New Details Emerge

AmmarHarris

UPDATE #2: Ammar Harris is believed by local police to be responsible for three deaths that happened on the Las Vegas strip last week. New reports indicate that it may have been a pimp feud.

Last week, on February 21, Oakland, California Rap hopeful Kenny Clutch (born Kenneth Cherry, Jr.) wasmurdered in a drive-by shooting on the Las Vegas strip. Two others—a taxi-driver Michael Bolden and passenger Sandra-Sutton Wasmund were killed in an ensuing car collision and explosion. A passenger in Clutch’s Maserati and four others have now been injured in the accident.

Authorities have now named their first suspect in 26 year-old Ammar Harris (a/k/a Ammar Asim Faruq Harris). According to CBS News, police found his black Range Rover at a nearby apartment complex following the shooting. After a SWAT search, he was not found on the premises. The car was witnessed both at an altercation at the Aria Hotel valet parking station, and moments later, alongside Kenny Clutch’s car during the shooting. Harris’ whereabouts are unknown, though Las Vegas Police Captain Chris Jones believes he is armed and dangerous.

Harris has multiple arrests in the past, for drug, pandering and weapons charges, among others. He has claimed residences in South Carolina and Georgia. Authorities in California, Arizona and Utah are reportedly cooperating in a search. Police photographs of Harris (pictured) show him with a tattoo of what appears to be an owl on his neck.

Following the last week’s tragic events, police investigation has revealed that Kenny Clutch had no criminal record at the time of his murder.

UPDATE: A story published yesterday (February 25) in The Las Vegas Review Journal and brought to the attention of HipHopDX indicates that not only did Kenny Clutch have an arrest record, he may have been working as a pimp at the time of his murder.

Clutch had a 2007 gun charge in California, which included reports of beating an ex-girlfriend and mother of one of Clutch’s children. Additionally, a signed 2011 affidavit by another girlfriend alleged that Clutch broke down a door, beat her, kicked her, and forcibly removed her from the couple’s apartment at the time. At the time of his death, Clutch’s girlfriend, Asmayit “May” Hagos, was wanted by bench warrant for violating probation. Hagos had been previously arrested for soliciting prostitution and grand larceny.

The LVRJ article also alleges that the prime suspect, Ammar Harris, was Clutch’s former “late-night running-mate,” making this murder related to a falling out between two pimps. The full report is at The Las Vegas Review Journal.

Pusha T Is “Ready” For Drake Beef

Pusha T_01-07-2013

SOURCE: [HIPHOPDX] Pusha T is asked if he’s “ready” for a Drake beef. Pusha says he’s “ready for anything and anybody.”

While he waits for his album to drop, Pusha T says he’s unafraid. His upcoming album, My Name is My Name, is on the way but Pusha is making it clear that he’s ready for more feuds with emcees to battle on wax. In a recent interview with DJ Whoo Kid, Pusha explained that he’s “ready for anything and anybody” and assured fans that he won’t “shy away from anything,” including Drake.

When asked specifically about Drake, Pusha responded without fear.

“At the end of the day, I’m ready for anything and anybody. This is music to me. It’s something I’m good at. It’s something I’m very good at,” he explained. “I don’t shy away from anything. I’m not into it like that. And I keep it tasteful. And I keep it Hip Hop. I keep it Rap. That’s it. I ain’t trippin’. I’m not even here to discredit what they’ve achieved or their skills. Drake is good.”

He also took a shot at Consequence, rehashing a line he said earlier in the year.

“If a man bought your teeth, you can never speak ill of that man,” he said, quoting his tweet about Consequence’s recent disgruntled statements towards Kanye West. “Confucius said it and I agree with that one belief. I don’t care what nobody say. Ain’t nobody ever bought my teeth.”

He also said a fellow G.O.O.D. Music artist, Common, is not scared of a battle on wax, either.

“Common don’t care. Y’all don’t even realize,” he shared. “I ain’t even gon’ sit here and expose Common, man. That man crazy, man. That’s my homeboy. Common’s my man.”

New ‘Copyright Alert System’ To Prevent Illegal Downloading Goes On Line

copyright

SOURCE: (AllHipHop News) Nearly fifteen years after the file sharing program Napster forever changed the way music is consumed, the entertainment industry hopes they have finally found an effective method to slow down U.S. citizens from illegally downloading copyrighted material.

This week internet service providers (ISP) AT&T, Cablevision, Comcast, Time Warner, and Verizon launched the Copyright Alert System or “Six Strikes”.  Instead of going after the pirates who uploaded the material, the new program seeks to stop the downloaders by “educating” the offender on the copyright infringement laws.

The program is known as “Six Strikes” because the internet subscriber that engages in downloading the illegal files will see graduated responses every time they attempt to pirate copyrighted works. For the first “strike,” the internet provider will send a notice that explains to the customer that they are participating in an illegal activity and provides ways to consume the content legally.

Each time the internet account holder is accused of pirating illegal content they face a more severe “Copyright Alert.” While consumers will not have to worry about legal measures like lawsuits, arrests, or fines, eventually the ISP could decrease the subscriber’s internet speed or redirect the connection to a landing page until the accused illegal downloader completes a “copyright education program.”

There will be an independent review system that allows subscribers who believe they received unwarranted alerts to challenge their inclusion in “Six Strikes.”

“Implementation marks the culmination of many months of work on this groundbreaking and collaborative effort to curb online piracy and promote the lawful use of digital music, movies and TV shows,” wrote Jill Lesser, executive director for the Center for Copyright Information, in a blog post. “The CAS marks a new way to reach consumers who may be engaging in peer-to-peer (P2P) piracy.”

The CAS also puts a lot of the responsibility on the content creator themselves to prevent their intellectual property from being shared online. Artists and entertainment companies will have to join P2P networks to see if their copyright is being violated. They would then have to notify the Internet Service Provider, and then the ISP contacts the individual with a Copyright Alert.

Cyberlockers, Dropbox folders, and e-mail attachments will not be including in the Copyright Alert System.

Watch a video about the new Copyright Alert System below.

Kanye West Closes London Show By Screaming & Throwing Microphone

This past weekend, Kanye West paused his performance at London, England’s Hammersmith Apollo to go on a rant about how he has love for Jay-Z but “ain’t fuckin’ with that‘Suit & Tie’” – a shot at Hov’s collaboration with Justin Timberlake.

Instead of going on another rant, Yeezy closed his second show at the venue with rage-filled screams, yelling into the microphone for more than a minute before spiking it across the stage and exiting.

‘Ye is known for making scenes during his shows. Late last year, he paused his performance toannounce that he and Kim Kardashian are expecting their first child together. During that same run of shows, he went on a rant where he criticized the Grammy Awards for failing to honor his latest projects with Album of the Year nominations.

Gunplay’s Armed Robbery Case Dismissed

2-2-Gunplay

SOURCE: {HIPHOPDX} Gunplay is off the hook in a case of armed robbery despite video evidence of the altercation.

Rapper Gunplay is off the hook in an armed robbery case that was caught on camera.

According to TMZ, the Def Jam signee has been exonerated despite the fact that there is surveillance video that shows him robbing his accountant. The case was dismissed because the victim refused to cooperate, as authorities tried to subpoena him but were unable to track him down.

“Video alone is not enough to convict an individual of a crime beyond a reasonable doubt,” explained the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s office. “Although the armed robbery is captured on the victim’s surveillance system, the victim, Turron Woodside, is uncooperative of the prosecution of this defendant Richard Morales [Gunplay].”

Gunplay spoke on the outcome of the case, stating that he plans to pick up where he left off. “Today I am grateful and blessed that the case was dismissed,” he said. “I plan on picking up where I left off with my music and making hits with my upcoming debut album … The first thing I am going to do today is smoke a joint, relax, play video games, and just be with my loved ones.”

Gunplay, who was charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault in the incident, turned himself over to authorities last October. He was placed under house arrest and could have faced life in prison if convicted on both counts.

He is currently gearing up for the release of his Def Jam debut Medellin, which will feature guest appearances from Pharrell Williams and Big Sean. He previously told HipHopDX he will appear on Lil Wayne’s I Am Not a Human Being II.

SOURCE: {HIPHOPDX} Pitbull goes in on Lil Wayne after he made comments against his home city.

Pitbull is the latest Miami, Florida resident to take offense to Lil Wayne’s comments against Miami Heat.

Rhyming over Baauer’s breakout hit “Harlem Shake,” Mr. 305 goes in on Weezy for going on a tirade against certain Heat players and claiming that he “fucked Chris Bosh’s wife.”

“I’m self-made, I’m self-paid / I grew up with no daddy, I’m from Miami-Dade,” raps Pitbull on the chorus. “It’s a deposition / Watch what you speak / Who’s the definition of Miami? Me / I move cultures, don’t believe me? / Watch and see.”

He then turns his attention to the YMCMB captain in the second verse, stating that Cash Money co-CEOs Birdman and Slim are the only ones profiting from his career. “You got money, yeah that’s sweet / But we all know Slim and Baby really eat / You talk Miami, yes you talkin’ Heat / Moral of the story, don’t shit where you eat,” he raps.

Lil Wayne came under fire after making his comments during an event at NBA All-Star Weekend. Luther “Uncle Luke” Campbell publicly denounced Wayne for his statements, while Trick Daddy took to the radio airwaves to express a similar sentiment.
