Brockton Police Call Child Services On Nine-Year-Old Rapper’s Father

SOURCE: (AllHipHop News) Brockton, MA fourth grader, 9-year-old Luis Rivera Jr has assumed the rapper moniker Lil Poopy and placed his father in some trouble with local police.

Brockton police have filed a 51A against Lil Poopy’s father, Luis Rivera Sr., which allows the Department of Children and Families to investigate allegations of child abuse and/or neglect.

In various YouTube videos, the prepubescent rapper is videotaped having an older woman gyrate on him, partying in nightclubs where alcohol is served and referring to himself as a “coke boy.”

Lil Poopy’s numerous music videos involving scantily clad women was “a bit much for a 9-year-old,” according to Brockton police Lt. David Dickinson.

Lil Poopy is affiliated with Cocaine City founder/CEO, French Montana and released a mixtape entitled Coke Ain’t A Bad Word in October of 2012.

Luis Rivera Sr claims his son is doing nothing wrong and likens his on-video butt slapping to celebration maneuvers in sports.

“When you hit a home run, when you go to the bleachers, they tap you on the butt,” Rivera said. The father of the French Montana prodigy claims his son makes $7,500 a performance and that he has contacted his legal representation in regards to the matter.

Lil Poopy’s questionable music endeavor has not only caught the ire of police but also parts of the Brockton community. Brockton community activist, Ollie Jay Spears claimed he had to turn off one of  the video after a while because it was disgusting.

“With the girl bent over and the other girl grinding into him, a 9-year-old with stacks of money and rapping about glorifying the drug trade, and demeaning women? A kid at the third- or fourth-grade level, talking about coke? It’s not entertaining. That’s borderline child abuse.”

Macklemore Responds To “Sellout” Comments Made In Regards To His NBA All-Star Game Commercial

Macklemore_02-22-2013

Over the past couple days, I’ve read numerous tweets and a couple articles about the use of our song “Wings” as the intro for the 2013 NBA All Star Game.  While most people were congratulatory over the television appearance, it seemed like there were a fair amount of people that were quick to throw out the good, old-fashioned “sellout” statement.  The bigger our profile gets, the more I’m getting use to the phrase and the “purists” who toss it around so liberally.  But I figured I should probably break it down from my perspective to let you know where I stand. The song “Wings” is about the pursuit of identity through the means of consumerism.  The attempt is to dissect our infatuation and attachment to logos, labels, brands and the fleeting happiness that is intrinsically linked to the almighty power of the purchase.  The subject I use in the song is shoes, but its aim is to paint a broader picture of being a consumer and tracing the lineage back to my first memory of retail infused desire. I love the NBA.  Always have, ever since I was a little kid.  When we got offered the TNT All Star game intro it was a no-brainer.  I showed up that day to a middle school gym in LA and as I was reading the script I was informed that they re-arranged the structure of the song.  I didn’t know prior to that day that my lyrics were going to be edited.  But to be 100% honest with you, I didn’t really care once I learned that they were.  The only thing that I was a little “ehhhh” about was the last bar.  But I put it on the ethics scale, and the last bar alteration wasn’t outweighing the potential reach that I saw in doing the video.  In any licensing deal they are going to edit your music.  A 4 minute song does not fit into a 30 second movie trailer.  Lyrics have to get cut in order for the trailer/ad to make sense with what the company is promoting.  And a song about consumerism doesn’t fit into an NBA All Star Game intro without some tailoring.  There is a story telling aspect of Wings that chronicles loving basketball, being a kid and wanting to be like Jordan.  That’s the side that the NBA wanted to use.  Makes sense.  Probably doesn’t make sense for them to use the part that’s breaking down our obsession with the shoes that 90% of the players in the NBA wear, right?  The All Star game intro was seen by millions of people on Sunday who had no idea who we were.  My thinking was, if they liked the song they will go and listen to the full version.  Those who hear the original song in its entirety will get the core of what gives the song depth.  Some might even buy it and become real fans.  And guess what version they get?  Not the TNT chopped up edit, but the full one.  In my stripped down definition, selling out is compromising your artistic integrity for money/fame.  In my heart I can tell you that my personal artistic integrity remained completely intact over the weekend.  TNT used our song.  They’re still my words.  They picked the parts that fit their ad campaign, and visually matched it to us performing, threw in a highlight reel of crazy dunks and had a bunch of kids singing the hook in a gym.  Word.  I’m all for that.  If you take away the consumerism cautionary core of Wings, a story still remains.  And that story is one that I’m still proud of, and it’s dope to me that it’s relatable enough for TNT to want to use it. I would understand the “Macklemore sold out” complaints more if we matched Wings to a shoe commercial.  That would be blatant irony, it would completely contradict the song and would appear as a sell out move.  But an NBA commercial?  The NBA has very little to do with what Wings was really about.  The songs subject is about shoes, but the guts of the record are about consumer culture.  Is the NBA tied up in this culture and related in some way?  Of course.  All companies selling a product are.  But this is the result of American culture.  Does the NBA happen to fall under the capitalist umbrella?  Absolutely.  But it’s no different than the brands you’re currently wearing, the company that manufactured the couch that you’re sitting on or the computer/phone you’re staring into while reading this. If there was any trace of irony by Wings being one of the official songs of the 2013 All Star Game, that’s great.  That means that we won.  The song about consumerism was embraced on a national level, and played to the entire country of sports fans that tuned in.  More people download the song, got the truth (the actual/full song) and we converted strangers that didn’t know who we were into fans.  If that’s selling out to you, word.  But to me that’s nothing but an all around win.

Lil Wayne Responds To Luther “Luke” Campbell’s Letter, Apologizes To Miami

lilwayne1

The back-and-forth between Lil Wayne and Miami, Florida continues.

After Lil Wayne recently cursed out the Miami Heat (specifically LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh), Luther “Luke” Campbell wrote a letter taking not only Wayne to task, but his own city. Now, Wayne has responded.

“I can’t change nobody’s personal opinion. I can’t change nobody’s personal view,” said Wayne in an interview with 99 Jamz. “I can just keep doing what I do and keep putting food on the table for my family and that’s what I’m going to do no matter what.

“I haven’t [read Luke’s letter], but I already know how he feels about me,” continued Wayne, referring specifically to the letter. “I’ve never met him actually. …Ever since I got here, there were billboards and signs saying, ‘Lil Wayne, Go Back Home,’ you know what I mean? And I didn’t do anything.”

Though Miami’s perception of Wayne has apparently become frosty, he has no intentions of leaving the city. “This is Miami, I can’t move,” said the Young Money general. “I got the best skate weather, ever, down here. … Like I said, the main thing I really want to get out there is that I do apologize for the misunderstanding to the city of Miami. I love everyone here, it’s just I’m passionate about sports and I felt very disrespected, that’s all. I felt very, very disrespected.”

The altercation between Lil Wayne and the Miami Heat began when Wayne claimed he was kicked out of a game for rooting for the Los Angeles Lakers.

MC Hammer Claims Racial Profiling in Arrest [VIDEO]

DUBLIN, Calif. — Sheriff’s deputies in the Bay Area brought the hammer down on MC Hammer, and he was none too pleased about it.

The rap artist, whose real name is Stanley Burrell, was arrested late last week in the small city of Dublin and promptly took to Twitter to claim he had been the victim of racial profiling.

Hammer, 50, let loose Saturday with a torrent of posts to his 3.1 million Twitter followers, saying he was sitting in his car when a deputy from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Department approached and tapped on the window.

The deputy, whom Hammer described as a “chubby elvis looking dude,” apparently angered the rapper who rose to stardom in the 1990s with the hugely popular songs, “U Can’t Touch This” and “Too Legit to Quit,” by asking him if he was on parole or probation.

Hammer, who did not respond to a request for comment via Twitter, said the deputy then attempted to pull him from his car. “It was comical to me until he pulled out his guns, blew his whistle and yelled for help,” the performer tweeted.

Hammer tweeted that he was “insulted and humored” by the incident.

[Updated, 2:25 p.m. Feb. 24: Sheriff’s Lt. Herbert Walters confirmed Hammer’s arrest and provided some details.

Hammer, he said, was taken into custody at a gas station after police realized he was in a vehicle that had expired registration and that was not registered to him.

“Hammer became very argumentative when questioned about the vehicle,” Walters said in an email to the Times. “He refused to exit the vehicle when the officer asked him to and continued to argue.”

Walters added that Hammer eventually exited the car on his own.

Hammer was released from jail after being booked and posting bail, Walters said.]

Ja Rule To Be Released From Prison In Gun Case

SOURCE: HIPHOPDX

Ja Rule was supposed to be released from prison for a gun charge but will instead head into federal custody for a tax case.

After serving most of a two-year bid for an illegal gun case, Ja Rule was slated to leave an upstate prison today but will instead head straight into federal custody for a tax case.

According to AP, the rapper has some time remaining on a 28-month sentence for tax evasion, as his pair of sentences were expected to run concurrently. He may now have less than six months and could be eligible for a halfway house, and is excited to get back to work so that he can pay $1.1 million in back taxes.

“Many people are looking forward to experiencing his talent again,” said defense attorney Stacey Richman, who also noted that he’s looking forward to his daughter’s graduation. “He’s a devoted father.”

The former Murder, Inc. star is getting out at his earliest release date. While incarcerated, he had two misbehavior reports for unauthorized phone calls in February 2012 and had work assignments on lawn and ground crews as well as participated in education programs.

Ja Rule began serving his bid in June 2011 following an arrest that took place in New York City, New York back in 2007 outside of Beacon Theater. After pulling him over, police found a loaded semi-automatic handgun in the vehicle. In July 2011, a judge ruled that he was sentenced to two additional years for tax evasion, though he would serve each sentence concurrently.

Lindsay Lohan’s Lawsuit Against Rapper Pitbull Dismissed

plopez

SOURCE: HIPHOPWIRED Struggle actress Lindsay Lohan has taken yet another L in court. The lawsuit she brought against Cuban-American rapper Pitbull for the alleged illegal use of her name in a song has been dismissed.

Says TMZ:

Pitbull didn’t just win his legal war with Lindsay Lohan … he ANNIHILATED HER … TMZ has learned.

We broke the story … Lohan sued the rapper in 2011 for using her name in his hit song “Give Me Everything” … when he dropped the line, “I got it locked up like Lindsay Lohan.”

Lohan claimed Pitbull never got permission to use her name … and therefore he had no right to profit off of it.

But today a New York federal judge sided with Pitbull … ruling that Lindsay is dead wrong on the law — because the song is a work of art protected by the 1st amendment PLUS Lindsay’s barely even mentioned in it.

The judge also ruled … Lindsay’s allegations that she suffered emotional distress are also BS.

And there you have it folks. Pitbull’s winning streak continues as he recently presented an award on the stage at the Grammy’s alongside Jennifer Lopez (though most people were looking at her leg) and his music stays in heavy club rotation.

As for Lindsay Lohan, she recently had to move back into her childhood home because her funds are minimal. Also, last year she accused Suge Knight’s son of stealing $100,ooo in jewelry from a home in Hollywood.

That is all.

Wiz Khalifa & Amber Rose Welcome New Born Baby, Sebastian Taylor Thomaz [PHOTOS]

wiz-khalifa-amber-rose

It seemed like it took a little longer than normal, but Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa are now proud parents to a bouncing baby boy.

Moments ago, the Taylor Gang general took to Instagram in a surgical mask and hospital scrubs with the  caption, “Daddy Time.” The couple had a couple of false alarms after Wiz and Amber had left social media updates that the baby was on the way.

“Good morning Rosebuds & Rosestuds Muva is not in labor nor did I have the baby yet I just had a doc appt yesterday Lol that’s all. ;-) ,” she tweeted. “I got a million congratulation texts yesterday for having the baby… It was sweet but our Chicken nugget is still baking. :-) .”

She then revealed the due date of her and Wiz’s baby boy in the next message. “My due date isn’t until Feb 24th & this is my first baby so he may come early he may come late but either way he’ll be here soon -Muva.” Well, it looks like they popped out a little bit early.

“Happy Birthday Sebastian “The Bash” Taylor Thomaz!!! Everyone welcome this perfect young man into the world,” Khalifa tweeted shortly after the birth. Rose went through with an at-home birth as the Taylor Gang general personally delivered the baby with the help of a mid-wife.

Congratulations to the happy couple.

DMX’s Wife Takes Shot At 50 Cent Over Cancellation Of “Starters Wives Confidential

Tashera_Simmons-50_Cent-hhdx

SOURCE:(AllHipHop News) DMX’s wife Tashera Simmons has weighed in on the cancellation of her reality show “Starter Wives Confidential,” which was recently canceled from the TLC network’s lineup of programming.

Tashera Simmons was one of the ex-wives/girlfriends featured on the show, which also included ex-girlfriends/wives of Floyd Mayweather Jr., Lamar Odom and rapper 50 Cent.

While 50 Cent has claimed in reports that he had a hand in “Starter Wives Confidential’s” cancellation, TLC recently issued a statement after the show was axed, blaming bad ratings as the reason the plug pulled was pulled.

In a statement released today (February 21), Tashera Simmons lashed out, claiming the show was canceled due to “many inflated egos.”

“I am no stranger to television and what just happened was unheard of and completely unorthodox,” Tashera Simmons told AllHipHop.com. “There were millions of dollars and a lot of hard work put into this project by the producers, staff and my costars. It’s hard to believe that there are still some fundamental issues in our society about women speaking up or having a voice.”

According to Tashera Simmons, “Starter Wives Confidential” was more than just a reality show – it was about a group of women “stepping out of the shadows of their ex’s and finding their way in life personally and professionally.”

Tashera Simmons took an obvious shot at rapper 50 Cent, claiming that a double standard existed in the entertainment industry.

“It’s okay for rappers to get on television and tell their story about how many times do were shot or how they were heavily in the drug game, but it’s not okay for women to share their story about their life experiences,” Tashera Simmons said.

Tashera Simmons is working on her memoir titled “Finding Tashera,” in addition to coaching her son Xavier Simmons, as he embarks upon a career in the music business.

Luther “Luke” Campbell Calls For Rick Ross To Set Lil Wayne Straight For Disrespecting Miami

luke_02-20-2013

After Lil Wayne has words for the NBA’s Miami Heat, Luther “Luke” Campbell says Weezy is disrespecting his city. He also asks what Rick Ross and DJ Khaled are going to do about this.

Recently, Lil Wayne caused a stir when he asked a crowd of fans to scream obscenities directed at the Miami Heat and the NBA. He went on to say that he had sex with Heat player Chris Bosh’s wife, though in a more derogatory fashion.

Longtime Miami representative Luther “Luke” Campbellwas deeply offended by Wayne’s comments and he wrote a blog about how fed up he is with Weezy. In his blog, Luke explains that Lil Wayne “treats Miami like his bitch because people let him.” He also says that this would have never gone down during his era, recalling that Dr. Dre had to cancel concerts in Miami as a result of their feud. Furthermore, he asks what other Miami artists are going to do about it, saying Rick Ross and DJ Khaled need to set Wayne straight. Luke’s entire post against Lil Wayne’s treatment of Miami can be read below, courtesy of his blog at Miami New Times.

Miamians are mad as hell at rapper Lil Wayne because he said fuck the Heat, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh on Sunday at a nightclub party in Houston. Lil Wayne even claimed he had sex with Bosh’s wife. That was way out of line. However, don’t blame Weezy for talking trash.

He has no respect for the city because people in Miami’s entertainment industry — from local radio DJs to South Beach nightclub promoters to the Heat’s front office — spread their legs for him and every out-of-town celebrity who rolls through town.

Lil Wayne treats Miami like his bitch because people let him.

When Weezy claimed he was thrown out of the Heat home game versus the Lakers, the franchise tried to downplay the incident, saying they only asked him to leave and he left on his own. That was a bitch move.
The Heat should have followed the Oklahoma City Thunder’s lead. Last year, Oklahoma City representatives told Lil Wayne to take a hike when he asked for courtside seats to one of the Thunder’s playoff games against the San Antonio Spurs. The

Miami Heat should be giving court-side seats to the city’s true local hip-hop heroes, like Trick Daddy and Betty Wright.
Stars can call up the Heat and get a free front-row seat or have nightclubs give them free tables and bottles of liquor whenever they want. Lil Wayne gets away with it because venue promoters are desperate to get mentioned in the gossip blogs and magazines. Local record label owners and radio station programming directors are also guilty of brown-nosing these interlopers.

Up-and-coming local artists like Alyric, K Kutta, Blaze, and YD can’t get their songs played on the radio because the stations are too busy playing shit from Cash Money Records. When the radio people get some balls and stop acting like groupies, they will stop playing Lil Wayne and company’s music.

Hell, I want to know what Rick Ross, DJ Khaled, and all these so-called 305 rappers who hang with Lil Wayne have to say about him disrespecting our home team. They need to set Lil Wayne straight. When you disrespect Miami, you can’t be allowed into any arena, restaurant, club, or even McDonald’s to get a burger. And you better not show your face in the hood.

None of this bullshit would have happened under my watch. In 1992, when I had a beef with Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, they had to cancel a concert in Miami. For years, they couldn’t set foot in the 305 because it was so hot. Suge Knight had to come down and smoke a peace pipe with me.

We also kept it real at the old Miami Arena, where I had season tickets from the first tip-off on July 13, 1988. I sat in the fourth row behind the basket near former Miami City Manager Joe Arriola. For a game against the New York Knicks, filmmaker Spike Lee was sitting in front of me. It was right after he trashed me on The Arsenio Hall Show.

Joe and I cussed him out during the entire first quarter. Arriola ended up getting thrown out, but Spike didn’t come back for the second half.

I’m gonna have to come out of retirement because Miami’s entertainment industry has gone soft. I’ve got no problem telling Lil Wayne where he can go.

Wayne’s original beef with the Miami Heat stems from a recent game where he claims to have been thrown out for rooting for the Los Angeles Lakers. He also claimed that the NBA banned him, a claim that the NBA has since refuted. Luke has been outspoken on his blog in the past, most recently warning Rick Ross to “squash beefs.”

Wale Confronts NBA Commentators For Making Fun Of Him

1-wale_01-07-2013

Wale addressed NBA commentators who referred to him as a “well-known local rapper.”

Wale didn’t take a pair of commentator’s comments lightly. While at the Washington Wizards game last night, the Maybach Music Group member heckled Toronto Raptors’ Rudy Gay, an incident that elicited a response from the player. The commentators turned their attention to the emcee, branding him as a “local rapper” and stating that “he’s not Drake, that’s for sure.”

“A fan heckling him and supposedly, this fan is a well-known local rapper. Wall-ay. Locally, here,” said one commentator. “Wale is inspiring. I’m sure somebody on Twitter could tell me if they exactly had ever heard of Wale. He’s not Drake, that’s for sure.”

The Washington, D.C. native then left his courtside seat to confront the commentators for belittling him on the mic. While the confrontation is without audio, someone uploaded a clip of Wale addressing the commentators to YouTube.

Wale, who recently dropped off his mixtape Folarin, is currently prepping the release of either an album or mixtape titled The Album About Nothing with comedian Jerry Seinfeld.

Juvenile Becomes A Thespian, Rapper Lands Starring Role In Crime Drama Film

juv

SOURCE:(AllHipHop News) New Orleans Hip Hop/bounce legend Juvenile has crafted a multiplatinum 15+ year recording career, but he will turn into a vengeful gangsta for his role in the movie The Power of Few.

Shot in New Orleans and  directed by Leone Marucci, the crime drama tells the story of a bloody afternoon from three different perspectives, with Juvenile’s character playing a central role in the third act.

Juvenile told Nola.com that the prospect of working some of his favorite actors was one of the main reasons for his signing on to the film:

To be honest, when they said Christian Slater and Christopher Walken and Anthony Anderson — right there that’s three people that I really like. I watch their movies. I watch ‘Mobsters,’ I watch ‘King of New York,’ I watch the movies that Anthony’s done with my fellow rapper DMX in the beginning. I’ve seen him do movies that I’ve loved a lot, like ‘Barbershop.’

In addition to being in front of screen, the 37-year-old veteran has plans to be apart of the film’s soundtrack and possibly enlisting some new artists. Juvenile’s recent mixtape with DJ Slob1 and his son, Young Juve’s mixtape “Son of A Hot Boy” are both featured on Juvenile’s website JuvieTheGreat.com

The Power of Few will debut on February 22nd to select theatres in Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Los Angeles.

Supreme Court Upholds C-Murder Conviction; Sets Precedent for Criminal Case Convictions

cmurder

SOURCE:(AllHipHop News) Multi-platinum New Orleans rapper C-Murder was on the losing side of a Supreme Court verdict yesterday (February 19), that will uphold his life long sentence for allegedly murdering a 16-year-old fan in 2002.

While the Supreme Court ruling keeps the former No Limit rapper and TRU Records label head behind bars, organizations like the NAACP have suggested that there be an investigation into the jury’s deliberations that ruled 10-2 to convict C-Murder.

In Louisiana, a vote of 9-3 wouldn’t have been enough to convict C-Murder and jurors have come out after the trial admitting that “abusive” persuasion and threats existed throughout the juror’s deliberations.

The case also brings up the heavily contested legal debate at the federal and state levels about whether or not a unanimous vote should be required to convict potential criminals.

[ALSO READ:  C-MURDER TRIAL DETAILS]

In 2009 C-Murder was sentenced to life in jail, but since then he has appealed the case on several occasions. The latest appeal reached Louisiana’s Supreme Court.

“No DNA,” Miller’s legal team wrote in one of two briefs filed at the 5th Circuit Court of Appeal. “No fingerprints. No gun. No ballistics. No testing for gunshot residue. No incriminating statements. Not one piece of physical evidence directly linking Corey Miller to the shooting. The irreconcilable tales of two flip-flopping, deal-driven and reluctant (to testify) witnesses is the only evidence propping up the state’s case.”

Despite this, C Murder’s appeal was rejected, and now the rapper must serve life in prison for the murder of a 16-year-old named Steve Thomas, in a now defunct nightclub in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana.
