T-Boz and Drake Hook Up For New Music

tione-t-boz-watkins-011713

Source:(AllHipHop News) Drake has a much publicized affinity for 90′s R&B,  so it is no surprise that the Canadian-born rap phenom is scheduled to work on new music with TLC singer, T-Boz according to the singer in an interview with Rap-Up.

In the interview, the FanMail singer says she plans on hitting the studio with Drake and his go-to producer, Noah “40″ Shebib  and calls Drake “one of the special ones.” The multi-platinum R&B icon praised Drake’s lyrical content as well as a similarity between the two that might not be the most obvious. “I think he would write perfect for my tone, because he sings in that register that I sing in.”

This is not Drake’s first encounter with the TLC legacy as he covered the group’s 1999 record, “Fan Mail” for his song “I Get Lonely Too” from his shelved R&B mixtape It’s Never Enough. Recently, Chilli of TLC posted a pic on her Twitter account of herself and T-Boz signing Drake’s “Protection is the Priority” TLC shirt.

Drake’s fixation with 90′s R&B caused a bit of controversy last year when he announced plans of working on a posthumous Aaliyah album without consulting Timbaland and Missy Elliott. No new songs have been released since the inception of the controversy following the release of the Drake-assisted “Enough Said” record back in August of 2012.

Eve Says Label, Management & Legal Issues Stalled Her Music Comeback

Eve_02-05-2013

Eve speaks to The Breakfast Club about her return to music, relationship with her former labelmates and more.

Prior to her comeback last year, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania rapper Eve had been out of the spotlight for quite some time. While her choice to remain outside of the music scene for several years may have seemed like a personal choice, Eve shared that she wanted to return to music for a while but couldn’t because of various label, management and legal issues.

The former Ruff Ryders Entertainment artist spoke on her label woes and more, earlier today (February 5th) while appearing on air with Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club.

“I been wanting to come back,” Eve revealed. “It’s just the situation hasn’t been right. Meaning, my situation as far as label stuff, management, lawyers… Literally, the whole situation. And now it’s the right situation. I know it’s been a minute, but I miss my music. My music is my first love and I feel like I still got shit to say…I was on Interscope. Been off Interscope. I had to fight for that. Then I went to EMI and that deal was horrible. And then it took a minute to just find a deal where it would be my label, but I’m distributed through Sony Red and I’m the boss.”

Although Eve may not speak with her Ruff Ryders family on a regular basis, the rapper did state that she still has a lot of love for her former label mates.

“We only speak when see each other sporadically. Never bad blood. That’s my heart,” said Eve. “Will always be my heart, anytime. I will drop anything for any of them. No problem, any second… Everybody living their own lives and it’s hard to keep up.”

Lord Jamar Releases Anti-Gay Kanye West Diss Track “Lift Up Your Skirt”

lordjamar

Lord Jamar, a member of pioneering rap group Brand Nubian, turned heads after aiming hom0phobic words in the direction Kanye West via Twitter a week ago. The rap veteran makes a questionable move and ramps up the anti-gay sentiment with the release of a new diss track titled “Lift Up Your Skirt.”

Jamar defended his Twitter rant last week in an interview with SOHH, saying that he’s not attacking West’s s-xuality but simply his eccentric style of dress. Declaring war on the “feminization of the Black man in Hip-Hop culture,” the “Punks Jump Up To Get Beat Down” rapper unleashed the hom0phobic track earlier today after explaining his ire to Vlad TV in an exclusive interview over the weekend.

“Somebody mad at my hashtag/Instagram, Black Man lookin’ half a f-g/With a blazer and dress, I’m just amazed at the mess/Pioneer of this queer sh-t is Kanye West,” raps Jamar in an agitated tone. Jamar was inspired to do the song after receiving a photo a friend sent him on Instagram that he reposted, with a tweet reading “Y’all Cee where the Kanye sh-t is takin us right? #halfaf-g.”

Jamar is sticking to his guns, and has endured a barrage of tweets regarding the matter. Although he brushed aside the criticism, Jamar never fully apologizes for his petulant outburst.

Lil Wayne explains why he does not like to be “touched by people I don’t tell to touch me.” He also confronts a camera crew after he says that a camera man pushed him.

Over the weekend, fans caught footage of a frustrated Lil Wayne at a celebrity flag football game. The emcee appeared upset during the event, Direct TV’s Celebrity Beach Bowl. After coming off the field, Wayne spoke about why he seemed livid in the footage.

When speaking with E! about why he was mad, Weezy explained that he does not like to be touched.

“Because one of these camera dudes just pushed me,” he said, as seen on Rap Radar. “I don’t like to be touched by people I don’t tell to touch me. So, I’ma get out of the building because if I touch somebody, I go to jail because they not the color of me.”

He continued, relaying a message to the camera crew.

“They not the same color I am so you know how that go,” he continued before directing his attention at the camera men. “But to them, ‘Fuck you.'”

Lil Wayne was present for the sports celebration as a fan. He has had his own sports show and has played in other celebrity games in the past. He has even said that he might quit music to pursue his love for skateboarding more seriously. Other celebrities were also at the event, including Snoop Lion.

Jermaine Dupri Pays Off $3 Million Tax Lien

jermaine-dupri-mansion-foreclosure

Producer/rapper Jermaine Dupri can go back to singing the hook to “Money Ain’t A Thang” ad meaning it. Dupri recently paid off a tax lien that totaled three million big ones.

In 2008, the IRS filed the lien, saying the So So Def label head defaulted on his tax paying duties back in 2006. The amount Jermaine Dupri defaulted on was 3,095,004.64. Dupri finally paid the massive debt and the lien was released on the 18th of January.

This isn’t Dupri’s first incident with the IRS. He just finished paying off a $500,000 tax lien filed by the state of Georgia. Although he’s out of the woods with the IRS, he still has to fork over some dough for his mansion’s mortgage. He’s fallen behind on those payments as well.

Lil Wayne Settles $432,000 Caribbean Concert Lawsuit

Lil_Wayne-Retirement-hhdx

Lil Wayne was notorious for keeping a Styrofoam cup glued to his hand at all times—filled with liquor and other various substances—but he’s learning that cup wasn’t worth the cost.

The YMCMB leader was scheduled to perform in the Bahamas in 2009, but according to the promotions company hosting the concert, Red City Entertainment, Wayne was too drunk to make the show and wound up cancelling the performance. According to a story that broke with TMZ in 2012, “When he failed to show, Red [City] claims cops showed up to the rapper’s hotel room and found him unconscious.” Weezy quickly responded to the accusations saying, “At no point [that night] did I become so intoxicated that I passed out on a bed in my suit, or anywhere else.”

Originally suing Wayne for $432,000, TMZ now reports that the New Orleans-born rapper reached a settlement outside court with Red City, and the state of New York dismissed the case Jan 8.

WOW! Black Noise? Kanye Bans Kimmy Cakes From Letting Their Unborn Seed Listen To Hip-Hop In The Womb

screen-shot-2013-01-19-at-11-43-51-am

What does this say about how stupid he must feel his own music is? You may already be weary of hearing about the Kimye baby but Kanye is making sure his future child only hears the sweet sounds of classical music while gestating.

Via National Enquirer reports:

KANYE WEST just laid down this jaw-droppin’ law on baby-momma KIM KARDASHIAN’s womb – he’s declared that until the birth, the KimYe li’l sucker oven MUST be a “no rap zone!”

In a serious sit-down, no-nonsense Kanye told his lady love: “NO listening to rap music while you’re pregnant with my child!” Said a close Kanye associate: “He blew us away when he told us he’d ordered Kim to listen to nothing but classical music during her pregnancy. He said he plans to give that baby every advantage in the world, and see that it’s educated in the finest schools. The way he put it was, ‘My kid’s gonna go Ivy – and its education is going to start NOW, before it’s even born!’

And Kanye says Kim’s down with that.”

Look, everyone only wants the best for their kid, but this seems like something that will be nearly impossible to control, given that Kim has still been hosting parties and hitting up events that we’re doubtful will be down for Bach only playlists.

Do you even believe this?

Master P Says He Tried To Sign Tupac To No Limit Records

1-1-Master_P-Chief_Keef-hhdx

Exclusive: Master P reveals to HipHopDX that he attempted to make Tupac a No Limit soldier.

Arguably the greatest hustler in Hip Hop history, Master P revealed to HipHopDX yesterday (January 31st) that, had it happened, his most impressive score would have been adding the legendary Tupac Shakur to his once mighty No Limit Records roster.

“To be honest wit’chu, at one time, I was thinking about signing Tupac,” replied P when asked by DX if there were any other big-name free agents, in addition to Snoop Dogg, that The Colonel tried to bring over to Hip Hop’s most successful label of the 1990s.

According to Master P, he attempted to sign the Oakland-based Tupac several years before No Limit’s commercial explosion, when the label had yet to center its operations in P’s native New Orleans, Louisiana and was still headquartered in Richmond, California as one of several up-and-coming Bay Area independent labels.

“[Tupac] was liking the movement of what we was doing,” explained P, “but we wasn’t fully there yet. … That was one little piece that I was looking at like, ‘You know what? This could be alright.’”

While there is no known video footage or photos of Master P and Tupac together, the head honcho of the rechristened No Limit Forever label revealed that he and his currently incarcerated brother C-Murder were once opening acts for the future icon of Reality Rap, and additionally confirmed to DX that he subsequently spoke to Tupac directly regarding Interscope Records’ then biggest Hip Hop signee possibly joining “the tank.”

“Everybody was interested in No Limit,” replied P when asked if ‘Pac personally expressed interest in enlisting as a No Limit soldier. “I don’t think there was one person in the music business that wasn’t interested in being a part of that movement.”

Stay tuned to HipHopDX for Master P’s full feature interview, in which The Colonel explains the stray shots at dress-wearing, skateboard-riding youth culture included on his just-released Al Caponemixtape, his parental relationship to Chief Keef and why he “can’t change” who he is and was forced to abandon his attempt at curse-free, positive Rap. The man who was once responsible for over 75 million albums sold also revisits No Limit Records’ past – including if P’s hoop dreams destroyed the tank, why he refused to negotiate with Beats By The Pound and what the real origins of “Bout It” are, contrary to Mannie Fresh’s version of events.

Rapper Escapes Kansas City Shooting

yjqvs-st-81

(AllHipHop News) A meal might have saved a rapper from death.  An unnamed rap artist narrowly escaped a shooting at a Kansas City recording studio on the 8100 block of Hickman Mills Drive which took the life of two individuals around noon of January 30th.

After being dropped off at the studio by a friend around noon, the unharmed rapper heard gunfire as he was eating lunch and quickly darted out the back to a local tire shop where he was “visibly upset and shaking” according to employees at the tire shop. Police have not released the names of the slain victims of this attack; however have identified one as an owner of the recording studio while the unnamed MC claims the other was his friend.

The rapper was not able to recognize the shooter and after hours of investigation, the police deduced that the killing did not appear to be premeditated.  A friend of the owner claimed the front door of the studio had been unlocked during recent visits even though he claimeed the owner was adamant about the front door being locked.

Not every rapper has had the luck of being able to leave a Kansas City shooting with their life. Back in 2004, Mac Dre was murdered on a Kansas City freeway over what is reported as a financial dispute.  Born Andre Hicks, the Vallejo rapper was gunned down in his car by still unknown culprits in a stolen black Infiniti G36. Following the murder, rumors about Kansas City rapper Fat Tone being behind the murder intensified and eventually led to the rapper’s 2005 murder by San Francisco rap promoter Andre “Mac Minister” Dow.

In 2011, an unnamed male informant informed a Kansas City writer that he would reveal the identity of Mac Dre’s killers. As of yet, no information on the identity of the culprits in Mac Dre’s or the January 30th shooting have been ascertained.

Donald Trump Threatens To Sue Mac Miller Over “Donald Trump” Song

screen-shot-2013-01-31-at-9-10-13-pm

Donald Trump is singing a different tune about Mac Miller’s song “Donald Trump,” which he previously praised.

Donald Trump has threatened legal action against Mac Miller over his gold-certified song “Donald Trump.”

The business tycoon took to Twitter earlier today to blast the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania rapper, defying earlier statements that he was “proud of him” and that he is the “new Eminem.”

“Little @macmiller, you illegally used my name for your song ‘Donald Trump’ which now has over 75 million hits,” he wrote. “Little @macmiller, I want the money not the plaque you gave me! Little @macmiller, I’m now going to teach you a big boy lesson about lawsuits and finance. You ungrateful dog! Little @macmiller—I have more hair than you do and there’s a slight age difference.”

Trump, known for his Twitter antics, previously praised Mac for the song back in August 2011. “A lot of people are calling me about the Mac Miller rap song. Now, it’s named ‘Donald Trump.’ Maybe you should pay me a lot of money, but it just did over 20 million people, tuning into Mac Miller,” he said. “So in one way, I’m proud of him. I haven’t actually seen the language, it’s a little hard to understand on the song itself. Probably, it’s not the cleanest language you’ve ever heard, but this kid is the new Eminem. Everybody says he’s fantastic. Let’s see what it is. But the ‘Donald Trump’ song just hit over 20 million, that’s not so bad. I’m very proud of him.”

Miller later responded, “I was just excited that I’ve reached a level where someone like that, I’m on their radar. I’m ‘bout to hit him to borrow the jet real quick.”

The rapper is yet to speak on the matter. He recently settled a $10 million lawsuit from Lord Finesse over copyright infringement.

Game Starts A G-Unit Reunion Petition

1-Game-G-Unit-hhdx

Game leaves it up to the fans to decide if they want to see the G-Unit crew back in action.

Game has started a petition for a G-Unit reunion.

In a post on Facebook, the Compton, California rapper posted a link to the site www.GUnitReunion.com, writing, “Is there a G Unit Reunion gonna happen in 2013??? Let’s see how many signatures we get!”

While surprising, the petition comes in the wake of Game’s manager Dontay “Taydoe” Kidd stating that the two were working behind the scenes to get G-Unit reunion into motion. He said that it would be a business decision on both ends.

Even though Chuck Taylor is on board for a reunion, 50 Cent said that even a G-Unit reunion with just him, Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo was unlikely. “Probably not,” he said. “I don’t know. You have people that go in different directions.”

“Dr. Wiz Khalifa” To Hand Deliver Baby with Amber Rose at Home

0311-music-wiz-khalifa-amber-rose-candy

(AllHipHop News)  Recently Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose stopped by Big Boy’s Neighborhood on Power 106 in Los Angeles to talk about a host of topics including Amber’s music and their decision to have a natural child-birth at home.

“It consists of her being in a whole lot of pain, with no medicine, she’s gonna thug it out. We gonna have a midwife and a doula at the crib and she’s gonna be in a pool and its gonna be like a relaxing environment and when she’s ready she’s gonna tell me when to stick my hands down there and I’m gonna pull the baby out,” Wiz told Big Boy and Rikki Martinez on Power 106′s Big Boy’s Neighborhood.

After seeing a Ricki Lake documentary on child-birth,The Business of Being Born, Amber and Wiz decided that natural child-birth at the house was the way to go.

“He doesn’t like hospitals, I don’t like hospitals, we feel like that  like that’s the place the people go when then die and I’m not sick. I feel like from the beginning of time women squatted and had their babies and that exactly what I want to do. I just want to go full throttle, I don’t want no medication,” Amber Rose explained.  ”We take home birthing classes to teach us how to do it, and we’re gonna have our midwife and when the baby’s head comes out he’s gonna be Dr. Wiz. He’s gonna be the first person to touch the child. No doctors, no gloves”

“It’s cool to learn about and then like learn about how important that connection is.  I’m excited, I’m ready. I’m mean I’m nervous too, but its a good nervous, it not like a confused nervous like, “What do I do?” Wiz said.

As for Amber’s music, while the two have collaborated on music in the past, Amber says she will likely make some music soon, but isn’t sure if she will have time given the demands of having her first child.

“I don’t know what its like to be a mom. I don’t know if I have it in me to juggle that with a new-born, We’ll see, I have fun with him, it’s a blast, he always lets me go in and experiment.”
