Trina Sued For $50 Million Over Allegedly Backing Out Of Appearance

Trina was sued over pulling out of an event called “America’s Next Top Rapper.”

Trina has been sued for $50 million in damages over allegedly pulling out of an agreement to appear as a judge during an event called “America’s Next Top Rapper.”

According to Courthouse News Service, Omnipresent Media and Lawrence “Amar” Wright filed suit against the Miami rapstress, her managing agent Rarebreed Entertainment, its principal Josh Burke, the State of Florida and J Ego Entertainment and Nunoise Travel.

The suit claims that Trina agreed to judge the online streaming video platform and competition where aspiring rappers compete to win $20,000, a Universal distribution deal and a “hit production team,” among other rewards.

Omnipresent, which throws the competition, said that Trina agreed to judge and then backed out of the show, which was to be held on December 30, 2011. The problem began when Trina and management allegedly failed to send promotional videos for organizers to promote the event. Omnipresent says that its promotions “generated significant traffic on the blogs of major entertainment networks, including BET and MTV.”

Trina and management then asked for more money and that the taping would not be publicly broadcasted. Her travel agent then said that she would not appear to judge unless the company paid her travel expenses. Omnipresent says it agreed, but she still didn’t provide the promo videos. Because of her absence, Omnipresent says that some attendees became “unruly” and “heckled competition participants.”

Dallas Police Lieutenant “Lucille Baller” Suspended Over Gangsta Rap Alter Ego

A Police Lieutenant with the Dallas Police Department has been placed on administrative leave, as an investigation ensues over her alter ego as a gangster rapper.

Police Lieutenant Regina Smith oversaw two investigative units for the Dallas Police Department.

But her job is now in jeopardy, after videos of Lieutenant Smith surfaced on YouTube rapping as “Lucille Baller,” wearing wigs, pointing guns and wearing short skirts.

Lieutenant Smith also delivered several ominous threats in the lyrics of her songs, which feature samples of “The Lucille Ball Show” and contain explicit language.

According to local news reports, police are concerned because of the contents of Lieutenant Smith’s lyrics, since she lost her husband in the line of duty in 2009.

“You know what I do to somebody who tries to take advantage of me?” Lucille Baller said in one of the clips. “You see this bullet right here? I’ll stick it from they rooter to they tooter and bring it out.”

Lil JoJo’s Mother Blames Chief Keef For Son’s Death

Slain rapper Lil JoJo’s mother blames his foe Chief Keef for his murder.

Even though it’s been months since Chicago up-and-comer Lil JoJo was killed in a fatal shooting. Now, in a recent interview with BET, the mother of the slain rapper speaks on Chief Keef’s possible involvement in the case.

Robin Russel, the mother of the late Lil JoJo, said that she believes Chief Keef is directly involved in the death of her son. She said that while she doesn’t believe Keef actually pulled the trigger on her son, she explained that she believes he paid someone off for the murder.

“Chief Keef [is responsible]…I don’t believe him, himself pulled the trigger but I believe he paid somebody to do it,” she said. “I would like justice to come from this and to show kids it’s a better way to get an education and yes, I fear for my own life. [Police] have a couple leads, they’re still working on it.”

Pusha T Confirms Dissing Lil Wayne & Birdman On New Ludacris Song

VIBE’s first V-Mix concert took over New York City’s Best Buy Theater on Thursday night (Nov. 29). With headliners DJ A-Trak, A$AP Mob and Pusha T sharing the stage, the event was all about bringing together a variety of musical styles.

Before G.O.O.D Music’s slick tongued MC from Virginia performed his set, Pusha sat down with VIBE to discuss his forthcoming projects, as well as his leaked verse that hit the ‘Net on Wednesday evening. While only a snippet of Ludacris’ “Tell Me What They Mad For” (produced by Swizz Beatz) was made public, a transcription of P’s lethal rhymes was also released. On the song, Pusha raps:

“With your baby mama f*cking every rapper in the business/Niggas saying you was better when the drugs was in your system/Now your crack swag gone ever since u came from prison/Got you tweeting all stupid, is you skatin’, is you dissin”

Though Lil Wayne wasn’t mentioned by name, avid hip-hop listeners were sure he was talking about the Young Money rapper. During P’s exclusive interview with VIBE, he confirmed that he was indeed talking about Weezy and Birdman.

“It’s new and was for Luda’s album,” Pusha told VIBE. He also explained his motivation for the verse. “Oh, because it’s a Swizz beat. You got to blame Swizz. See, when Wayne got a Swizz beat… with the “Ghoulish” track; he got busy, well, he tried to.”

Pusha says Ludacris wasn’t aware he would be taking shots at the YMCMB family and ended up asking him to change his verse upon hearing it. However, the G.O.O.D. Music rapper says he has no plans on doing so.

“I play by old school rules. I play by the fundamentals and foundation of what hip-hop was based on,” Pusha explains on why he rarely mentions his targets by name.

At press time, Ludacris had not yet confirmed if the track would be included on his upcoming LP,Ludaversal.

RyanLeslie Speaks on $1 Million Verdict & Gets Emotional On Stage After Being Called “Rap Weasel”

Last night, Ryan Leslie, performed for a super-supportive audience at LIU’s homecoming and addressed the whole finders, keepers laptop situation on stage. The Harvard grad producer, got emotional on stage after recalling how the NY Post used his lawsuit verdict as their front page story this week, and labeled him “rap weasel”.

“Eventually somebody did actually return that backpack to me. And when I looked at the hard drive to access everything that I had lost, um, the music just wasn’t there. The hard drive wouldn’t mount” said  Leslie about why he felt he shouldn’t have to pay the full $1 M to laptop-finder Armin Augstein.

“Everyone thought I was just a cheapskate or something like that.  A jury of my peers, eight people, they looked me in my face and told me that I had to pay this man $1 million for music that I never got back”. Leslie continued on to say, and “despite what the jury said, that $1 Million reward is stlll out there for anyone who can return my compositions to me.”. Watch the full performance below! Hmm…if I were him, I would reduce the reward by  80% since he is already on the hook for the million.

Dr. Dre Tops Forbes’ Highest-Paid List: Here’s How He Did It

Dr. Dre hasn’t released an album in 13 years … and at this point, he might never put another one out again.

That’s because the Good Doctor tops Forbes’ new list of “The World’s 25 Highest-Paid Musicians,” raking in an estimated $110 million from May 2011 to May 2012, when the magazine looked at revenues. Dre’s haul dwarfed the likes of Britney Spears, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and Kanye West, all of whom made the cut, and was nearly $30 million more than the man who came in at #2 on the list, Roger Waters.

Dr. Dre – “I Need A Doctor”

And, as you are probably aware, he made all of that loot without releasing a single note of new music (his last single, “I Need A Doctor,” hit in February 2011). And while royalties from his expansive back catalog and payment for performances like his headlining set at the Coachella festcertainly helped fill his coffers, the majority of Dre’s wealth these days comes one very profitable source: his range of Beats headphones, earphones and accessories.

Dre founded Beats Electronics with Interscope/Geffen/A&M chairman Jimmy Iovine in 2006, and the company produced the first set of Beats by Dr. Dre headphones in late 2008, and while the profits were certainly there, he really cashed in last August, when Taiwanese corporation HTC purchased 51 percent of Beats for a reported $300 million.

According to Forbes, that purchase netted Dre a cool $100 million, and, less than a year later, HTC decided to sell back half of its stake to Beats (though they still retain exclusive rights to use Beats Audio technology in their mobile devices). Dre and Iovine have only continued to expand their Beats empire, creating a line of boomboxes to go along with their headphones, and Beats speakers can also be found in the Chrysler 300, the Dodge Charger and a line of HP laptops, too.

There are also reports that Beats is branching out into the smartphone market, with a line of devices manufactured by HTC, and making preliminary moves towards launching a custom Beats television, partnering with a manufacturer to create “an Apple-like experience that extends from a phone to a TV to a tablet to a laptop … much in the same way Apple does with Apple TV, AirPlay and iTunes.” Beats also acquired online music service MOG this summer, for a something in the neighborhood of $10 to $16 million.

Of course, at the end of the year, Beats’ five-year deal with Monster Cable Products — which was the exclusive manufacturer of their headphones and speakers — will come to an end, meaning that the company will go forth on their own … certainly a risky move, but, given they control a reported 53 percent of the $1-billion-headphone marketplace, one that could pay even biggerdividends for Dre.

Like we said, at this point, who needs Detox?

Should Dr. Dre focus on the boardroom or the studio? Let us know in the comments below!

50 Cent Says Floyd Mayweather Owes Him $2 Million

50 Cent says that his beef with Floyd Mayweather began over a $2 million debt.

While 50 Cent is hardly a stranger to beef, perhaps his most surprising feud in recent history involves his former friend and TMT Promotions partner Floyd Mayweather. Now, in a recent interview with Power 106 FM, Fif reveals the origins of his beef with the famed boxer.

According to Fif, the feud began over a $2 million debt Mayweather owes to Fiddy for starting their TMT Promotions company prior to Mayweather’s recent prison sentence. Fif explained that after his release from jail, Mayweather neglected his debt to the rapper and instead spent his fortune on jewelry and cars. Eventually, tensions boiled over and Mayweather lashed out at the rapper on Twitter at the behest of his entourage.

“[Mayweather] changed his mind…as he was actually going in to jail, he asked me to help him with Mayweather Promotions,” Fif recalled. “As he actually got in and I took a look, I realized there is no Mayweather Promotions: there’s no LLC, there’s no seals, there’s no ‘incorporated’…technically, Floyd is a Golden Boy fighter [for Oscar De La Hoya’s promotion firm]. He fights on every Golden Boy card, they do all the footwork…so when he says, ‘Help me with Mayweather Promotions,’ and it’s not there, I go, ‘Okay, I know what he means: he wants me to put it together for him.’ So I do TMT Promotions, I get it all the way together…he comes home, and there’s the, ‘Let’s get Floyd back in pocket’ campaign that goes on, where there’s $300,000 chains being bought and buying him the new Lambourghini…and I’m sitting there going, ‘When are you going to give me the money?’…It’s about [$2 million owed] at that point. When he finally does bring up the actual situation, he acted like he didn’t know anything. Like, ‘I didn’t tell y’all to do that.'”

He added, “That’s not Floyd [on Twitter or Instagram dissing me]; Floyd don’t Tweet…he’s got somebody next to him. See, everybody around him is co-dependent, so they gonna roll with what he says regardless…they’ll tell him what to say. As soon as he gets confused, he’s gonna go, ‘Okay, okay, um, just call out [50 Cent].'”

OH MY! 50 Cent Says French Montana Is The “New Ja Rule”

Ever since French Montana spoke about 50 Cent and the mistakes he made during the course of his career in a recent Complex interview, 50’s been on a rampage.

The interview was drama free until French spoke about 50 Cent’s career and infamous beefs, stating:

“Yeah. You can’t beef with people because it’ll scare money away. In the streets you can strong arm people and take money but you can’t do that in the industry.”

50 didn’t take French’s assessment very well, and hopped on Twitter to call the “Pop That” rapper a “hoe” and a “fool.”

During a recent interview, 50 Cent compared French to the likes of former Murder Inc. rapper Ja Rule.

“He ran his mouth prematurely. He’s really not ready to compete on any level with me. When I drop the single and it becomes the #1 selling record in 12 hours, after you saying that, I think you should be quiet a little bit. I’ll put him completely out of business. He had one song and you didn’t even care about it ’cause it had him on it, there was four other people on it. That’s your new Ja Rule right now.”

DETAILS: A History Of 50 Cent & Fat Joe’s Beef

50 has been credited on “destroying” Ja Rule’s career when they began beefing in the early 2000s.

Ja Rule, who is currently in prison serving time for a gun charge, has been virtually out of the business since 2004, when he released his R.U.L.E. album.

Ja Rule did release Pain Is Love 2 in February 2012, but the album only sold a mere 3,200 copies in the first week.

What are your thoughts on 50 calling French Montana the “new Ja Rule?”

Rapper 50 Cent Drops Snippet Of Track With Eminem and Adam Levine Dissing Game and Young Buck

Both Game and Young Buck were kicked out of G-Unit.

Game left the fold in a violent feud in 2005, while Young Buck was booted from the camp in April of 2008.

In the snippet, 50′s verse tells Game and Young Buck to “suck a d**k,” and claims that both artists’ careers have fallen off, since G-Unit’s leader is no longer writing for them.

Nicki Minaj Responds To Steven Tyler’s Criticism, Says He Made “Racist” Comments

Nicki Minaj also says Steven Tyler’s upset about no longer being on “American Idol” and adds that she will get him a shirt that reads, “No Coloreds Allowed.”

As a judge on American IdolNicki Minaj has already faced some criticism from a fellow judge in Mariah Carey. Now, she is responding to criticism from a former judge, Steven Tyler. During an interview with MTV, Tyler had comments about the current judges that Minaj was offended by.

“I know that they’ve got something going on on the judges’ panel, [and] it shouldn’t be that, it should be just the opposite: They should have something going on, which is called ‘camaraderie,'” Tyler said. “They should have something going on so thick and beautiful that they can lay it over the new talent that’s trying to birth itself. It needs to be birthed, not judged by ‘entertainment’ factors, it needs to be judged by people that [are] honest, true, that have the ‘it’ factor. Not the ‘it’ factor because they can fight. The fuck is that all about?”

He also went on to add more.

“If it was Bob Dylan, Nicki Minaj would have had him sent to the cornfield! Whereas, if it was Bob Dylan with us, we would have brought the best of him out, as we did with Phillip Phillips. Just saying.”

Minaj was not pleased with these comments. In a few statements on her Twitter account, Minaj countered Tyler’s remarks by saying that he made racist comments.

Steven Tyler said I would have sent Bob Dylan to a cornfield??? Steven, you haven’t seen me judge one single solitary contestant yet!

I understand you really wanted to keep your job but take that up with the producers. I haven’t done anything to you. That’s a racist comment

You assume that I wouldn’t have liked Bob Dylan??? why? black? rapper? what? go fuck yourself and worry about yourself babe.

LOL lets make him a shirt that says “No Coloreds Allowed” then escort him down 2 Barbara Walters so he can tell how he was threatened w/guns

Rapper C-Murder’s Quest For Supreme Court Appeal Delayed

Incarcerated rapper C-Murder will have to wait to see if he will be able to appeal a 2009 murder conviction.

The rapper’s appeal was one of several major cases for the U.S. Supreme Court to review this week, but it was not on the docket for unknown reasons.

According to the Times-Picayune, no explanation was given for the delay, but it could be for several reasons, as Justices of the Supreme Court could have had asked for more time to consider the appeal.

C-Murder, born Corey Miller, was given a mandatory life sentence in Angola prison, after he was convicted of the 2002 death of 16-year-old Steven Thomas.

Thomas was shot to death inside of a now defunct, Harvey nightclub during a dispute.

Although witnesses placed C-Murder inside of the club, none were actually able to identify him as the person actually firing a weapon.

Defense witnesses have long claimed that another man, who is now deceased, was the person inside of the club that was responsible for shooting Thomas.

C-Murder has been convicted of the crime twice already.

In the first trial in 2003, the rapper was convicted, but that was overturned on appeal, when it was learned prosecutors expunged the criminal records of their witnesses.

During the 2009 trial, 10 of the 12 jurors found C-Murder guilty of Thomas’ death.

But as jurors were deliberating, one woman claimed that he was placed under undue stress to reach a verdict.

Other jurors accused another member of the jury of sleeping and reading the Bible during the deliberations.

Shortly after the case, the woman spoke to the media about the pressure she was under to make her decision.

The juror, Mary Jacob, told reporters shortly after the guilty verdict that she voted, because a Nother, younger insurer had become ill during the deliberations, since she believed see murder was innocent.

“They literally made this 20-year-old girl so violently ill,” Mary Jacob said. “She was shaking so bad. She ran into the bathroom. She was throwing her guts up. She couldn’t function anymore. That’s when I decided, the judge don’t want to listen to me, doesn’t want to listen to us? I told them, ‘You want him to be guilty? He’s guilty, now let’s get the hell out of here.”’

According to the Times-Picayune, the high Supreme Court approves less than 2% of the appeals that are filed annually.

Game Recalls Losing To Kanye West In A Rap Battle

Game recalled the time he took a L in a rap battle against Kanye West.

Long before he was topping the charts with his G.O.O.D. Music clique, there was a time when Kanye West wasn’t recognized for his ability to rhyme. Now, in a recent interview with Vlad TV, one of Yeezy’s West coast collaborators Game recalled taking a L to the Chicago rapper early in his career.

Game recalled the time Kanye West beat him in a rap battle before either emcee struck it big in the industry. He said that the two met at a party that Nelly threw, and after the event wrapped up, they decided to engage in a friendly battle. Game added that he and ‘Ye went toe-to-toe for much of the battle, until Kanye pulled out all the stops in his final, battle-winning verse.

“Before The Documentary came out, Nelly had a party at Niketown, and everybody was there – Dr. Dre,Swizz [Beatz]Pharrell, a bunch of stars,” he recalled. “Me and Kanye were kinda rookies and what-not; Kanye was still servicing his beats around, I think he just had signed to Roc-a-Fella. So after the party was over, we’re walking to the parking structure, just walking [with] a bunch of chicks…and everybody was like, ‘Yo, Kanye, why don’t you battle Game? Game, why don’t battle Kanye?’ And we were just two hungry artists, so in the parking structure, [we] just took off. ‘Ye rapped first, and he spit and it was that old College Dropout Kanye, and he got off and he really did his thing.”

He continued, “I gave him probably about 40 bars, just rapping fire, and then he came and he spit like 40 bars. I took it up, and I ended up rapping for like three or four minutes…I felt like I won, and then Kanye, just out of nowhere, started going in about how I thought I was the ‘savior and watch my behavior’ – he just really started going in, and the chicks started being like, ‘Oooh, aah,’ and once the chicks start chiming in, it’s pretty much over.”
