Biz Markie Recalls Seeing A Ghost On Celebrity Ghost Stories [VIDEO]
Image

Biz Markie has no doubt seen many things over a lengthy career that included everything from rocking with the Juice Crew to collecting nice checks for beatboxing on Yo Gabba Gabba. In a recent episode of Celebrity Ghost Stories, the “Nobody Beats The Biz” rapper recalled seeing a ghost when he was a little kid living in Long Island after moving there from Harlem.

“I had never seen nothing like this before cause I didn’t believe in now supernatural stuff,” says the Biz. “I got up in the middle of the night,  I came downstairs [to get] a snack. All of a sudden I see some type of airish, ghostly figure. You could see right through it. I’m so startled ’cause I’m a little kid. And, all of sudden, it disappeared.”

The full episode with Biz Markie telling his tale—as well as detailing how he practiced becoming a rapper—aired yesterday at 9pm on the Biography channel, but you can catch it again tonight at 1am. Or, you can stream the full episode, which also features stories from Erik Palladino and Rita Rudner, on the next page.

Rapper Drake Earns High School Diploma

Image

The rapper Drake has never lacked for confidence, but his latest feat warrants special congratulations. Ten years after dropping out of high school for his famed role on the Canadian television show“Degrassi: The Next Generation,” he finally earned his high school diploma after studying with a private tutor.

“97% on my final exam. 88% in the course. One of the greatest feelings in my entire life. As of tonight I have graduated high school!” he tweeted last night. “Thank you to my teacher Kim Janzen for spending the last 5 months working tirelessly with me!! OVO SOUND.”

The MC’s academic career at Forest Hill Collegiate Institute was sidetracked at 15 while he starred as Jimmy Brooks, a high school athlete and victim of a school shooting, on the show. Simultaneously, he worked on his rap game, released several lauded mixtapes, and the rest is swaggering-but-sensitive history.

Drake has never shied away from his scholastic stalling, rhyming in “Crew Love” that “I guess we’ll never know what Harvard gets us/But seeing my family have it all/Took the place of that desire for diplomas on the wall.” But as self-assured as he is, it must have been both humbling and validating to finish high school at 25 with more money and renown than most artists can conceive.

Given that he’s thrown himself a second bar mitzvah, now’s a great time for a belated graduation party as well.

Rapper Rick Ross Sued Over Brawl At 2011 Birthday Party In New York

Image

Miami rapper Rick Ross is the subject of a lawsuit over a wild brawl that broke out during his birthday party at a club in the Bronx, in 2011.

Umbrella Lounge filed a lawsuit against Rick Ross earlier this month, claiming the rap star and his entourage were involved in an altercation during a January 28 birthday celebration.

The lawsuit claims that the fight spilled outside, and resulted in the injury of two men who required serious medical attention for their wounds.

One of the victims required 40 stitches, while another suffered lacerations and permanent scarring.

The victims originally sued Umbrella Lounge, who in turn, have filed a lawsuit against Rick Ross.

Umbrella Lounge claims they provided enough security, but the rap star’s entourage continued to fight outside, despite security’s efforts to quell the violence.

The lawsuit accuses Rick Ross of acting in a reckless and negligent manner, since he disobeyed the orders given by Umbrella Lounge’s security to halt the violence, which resulted in the injuries of the patrons.

Image

Lil Wayne says he is clueless to the backlash against his comments towards New York.

Lil Wayne got under some people’s skin when he said that he “flat out” doesn’t like New York City, New York. After facing some backlash for his comment, Weezy spoke to MTV News about the response, stating that he doesn’t pay any attention to what others are saying and that he’s completely unaware of how people interpreted his words.

“I have to be honest with you, dog: All I do is work, and I swear to God, I don’t even know the reaction,” said Wayne. “If I knew the reaction I’d know how to be able to answer that question, but I don’t know the reaction. I just say what I want to say, do what I want to do and fuck who don’t like it.”

He also said he hadn’t heard Fabolous’ “So NY,” which responded to the comment with the rhyme, “I’m so New York, Weezy probably don’t like me.” “Nah, I don’t listen to nothin’ else but myself, ’cause I’m just tryin’ to get better,” he said. “I always listen to what I could’ve said or done better, so I’m sorry.”

Jaz-O Says He “Bred” Jay-Z & Sauce Money, Responds To Recent Criticism

Image

Jaz-O responds to Sauce Money’s recent interview about him and says he “bred” Jay-Z and Sauce Dinero, adding, “You came from me.”

It didn’t take long for former Jay-Z mentor Jaz-O to respond to Sauce Money, who criticized him recently by calling him  “a piece of shit.” Jaz-O phoned in to Forbez DVD Live to share his side of the situation, noting that he doesn’t take those words lightly. In his response, Jaz said he would punch Sauce Dinero and explained that he is responding because what Sauce said could affect his career and because “it’s personal.”

“I’m not a gangsta but I’m gangsta. He’s angsta. That’s gangsta without the G,” Jaz explained. “I would implore him to not think that I’m on this Rap beef shit all the time. Nigga, you’s my friend so this shit is personal. I will come and punch you in the face…I’m in Tamnpa, Florida. I will come to New York to punch this nigga in the face, if need be.”

Jaz went on to say that people need to remember that he “bred” Sauce Money and Jay-Z.

“I’m not responding because it bothers,” he clarified. “I’m responding because, number one, that shit is personal because we’re personal. Number two, I’m in this business still. You ain’t gon’ throw my name in the dirt. That goes for Jay[-Z] too, anytime that nigga says something and I hear about it, I’m gonna respond. I don’t give a fuck who these niggas are. I bred these niggas. That’s what mothafuckas don’t understand. I bred these niggas. I don’t care how big any mothafucker gets. You came from me. That’s the bottom line. That’s not even ego trippin’. I’m tellin’ the truth. The bottom line is, I’m not takin’ shit from none of these niggas. They can take it any way they wanna take it.”

Jaz continued, saying he is a “nice guy.”

“I’m a nice guy,” he added. “Everybody knows I got a big heart but me having a big heart don’t mean that I don’t have a heart to put niggas down, to punch niggas in they face, to make it pop. Don’t talk shit about me and expect me to not respond…I ain’t gotta play them games. I just turned 48. Nigga, I feel great.”

Jaz also mentioned that he is writing a book. The full conversation can be heard below.

Sauce Money Calls Jaz-O A “Piece Of Shit,” Anticipated Roc-A-Fella’s Demise

Sauce Money says that Jaz-O is “two-faced” and wasn’t surprised that Damon Dash and Jay-Z parted ways.

Sauce Money recently chopped it up with Forbez DVD, touching on a couple of topics including the demise ofJay-Z and Damon Dash‘s relationship and his feelings towards Jaz-O. During the interview, the Brooklyn, New York native said he saw the writing on the wall when it came to Roc-A-Fella Records’ demise, stating that it was probably “devastating” for Dash but understandable from Hov’s perspective.

“I’m pretty sure that’s devastating. I’m pretty sure they established a bond, a close rapport with each other. I’m pretty sure it’s devastating. Am I surprised? Absolutely not,” he said. “I was gone early. But from the time that I was there, I didn’t see how it could last. Eventually, if nothing else but for a business move on Jay’s behalf, because at the end of the day it’s like, OK, we reached a certain plateau and Jay’s a very ambitious person. It’s only right that he can totally eat off himself and not break up his money three ways, because at the end of the day, he was really carrying the shit.”

As for Jaz-O, who has publicly lashed out at Jay-Z in recent years, Sauce Dinero had some strong words though he wouldn’t go into detail. “He’s a piece of shit. Without getting too deep into it, he’s kind of a two-faced kind of nigga. He’ll back-bite you about a nigga, and then when he get with the nigga, they do the same… He just a type of individual – and I don’t wish him no harm, but I don’t wish him well, either. They don’t know the type of nigga that he is. Fuck him, man.”

Prosecutors Want Chief Keef Back In Prison For His Interview At A Gun Range

Image

Chief Keef reportedly violated his probation order on two occasions.

Chief Keef could be returning to juvenile detention for allegedly violating his probation twice.

According to the Chicago Sun Times, Cook County prosecutors state that he violated his probation stemming from an incident where he pointed a gun at a police officer an was sentenced to 18 months of probation. He was later found delinquent on two other felonies.

Earlier today, prosecutors pointed to his video interview with Pitchfork, conducted in June at a gun range. In the video, the 17-year-old was holding a gun – a direct violation of his probation, which prohibits him from having guns, illegal drugs or associations with gang members.

Prosecutors also said he failed to complete his GED by a court-ordered deadline. Assistant State’s Attorney Jullian Brevard noted that on September 30th, police responded to a call of gang disturbance and found him associating with Black Disciple gang members. Keef also failed to give his probation officer his most recent phone number.

Keef is currently recording his debut album in California, where he will return until his November 20th court hearing and what he suspects will play out in his favor. “It’s a piece of cake,” said Keef.

Earlier in the week, Gucci Mane took to Twitter stating that if his former collaborator, T.I. wanted to get involved he could. Tip had no explanation for why Gucci would call him out, but he reiterated his desire to stay focused on financial matters.

“A lot of times in life, things happen and we never know why,” T.I. added. “Guess what? The focus is what counts. I’m focused on that sack champ. I’m trying to get myself where Dre, Puff, Jay and them are at—I’m talking net worth wise.”

Nelly Addresses Drug Bust On Tour Bus

Image

Nelly breaks his silence on the drug bust that took place on his bus.

Nelly was in hot water last week after police pulled his tour bus over in Sierra Blanco, Texas and discovered heroin, marijuana and a loaded gun. Breaking his silence on the matter, the St. Lunatic spoke with V-103’s Kenny Burns about the experience, stating that he’s not at liberty to talk openly about the situation but maintaining his innocence in the matter.

“Certain stuff we can say and certain stuff you can’t say until all that is cleared,” he said. ”We got pulled over and things were noticed as far as K-9 abilities and things went in stages from there. It was kind of wild…When they asked, ‘Whose is this,’ I can tell you who it ain’t.”

Nelly’s associate Brian Keith Jones was blamed for contraband on the bus, but later pled not guilty to the charges. The checkpoint where Nelly was stopped has played host to similar busts on Snoop DoggWillie Nelson and Fiona Apple in recent years. He said he would never jeopardize his career by bringing such materials on a tour bus through that area.

“It ain’t a good spot to come through with anything you ain’t supposed to have,” Nelly said. “Everything happened so fast. It’s one of those situations where you’re squinting your eyes like, Is this really happening?…There was no way I would jeopardize what Nelly has built for the last 14-15 years being in the situation I was accused.”

Jay-Z Voices Support For President Barack Obama In Upcoming Election

Image

Jay-Z has released a video explaining why every vote counts in the next election.

Jay-Z has released a video in support of President Barack Obama‘s campaign for re-election.

Hov, who recently had a fundraising dinner with Obama in New York City, New York, said that when the President first began his term, he symbolized hope for American citizens.

“When the President got in the office initially, what he represented to a nation of kids was hope, the hope of people all across the country who would look and see themselves and know the possibilities,” he said.

The Roc Nation chief enlisted Obama to record a message that aired during his Made in America festival in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Jay says that every vote counts, and that people should exercise their right to participate in the election.

“For so long, there was this voice that was silenced out there as far as exercising the right to vote. I think it was a voice that was silent because people had lost hope. People didn’t believe that their voice mattered or counted. They thought it was just policies, people going back and forth and at the end of the day, it never trickled down to where we live,” he said. Now, people are exercising their right and you starting to see the power of our vote. It means something for the first time for a lot of people, having someone in office who understands how powerful our voice can be. It’s very important.”
