I caught one of the refrigerators though, like a lion on a wildebeest.”

RiFF RaFF Explains Position On White Rappers Using The N-Word

Image

Riff Raff offers his two cents on white emcees dropping the epithet.

RiFF RaFF recently chopped it up with Vlad TV about white rappers using the N word. Like many white emcees who came before him, Jody High Roller responded to the question, stating that he doesn’t judge others for what he does and focuses more on positivity than negativity.

“I can only speak for myself and not what somebody else does. If I’m hanging with someone and we’re just chilling and everything, I’m just enjoying that person’s company because that’s the person I am,” he said. “So whatever they do in their spare time in their life or whatever they say and talk, who am I to tell somebody what to say or think? I never tell somebody what to do or what to say. Because think about this.”

He justified his stance by stating that instead of focusing on epithets, people should be blessed to have the ability to speak in a language and understand others.

“Think about all the people with different languages. What if there’s people in other languages and they’re saying shit about such and such or whatever, and you can’t understand them? Some people can’t even talk, so just be appreciative that everybody can give off from their vocal chords and can express a noise and a frequency that you can even understand that, that you have ears to hear that.”

Kanye West Sued Over Illegal Sample On “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy”

Image

Kanye West has been accused of failing to properly clear samples used on “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.”

It looks like Raekwon isn’t the only emcee being served for the use of uncleared samples. Now, in a recent report from HipHopWired, G.O.O.D. Music impresario Kanye West has been hit with a suit over samples on My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

Label TufAmerica is suing Yeezy over the use of a sample of Eddie Bo’s “Hook & Sling” on two songs off his 2010 LP, “Who Will Survive In America” and “Lost In The World.” According to the suit, Roc-a-Fella Records and Universal Music Group did actually pay a whopping $62,500 to clear the sample, but failed to “enter into written license agreements that accounted for their multiple other uses” of the 1969 song.

TufAmerica, who acquired the rights to the song in 1996, is suing the Roc and UMG for copyright infringement for an unspecified amount.

Surprisingly, this isn’t the only sample-related lawsuit that the Chicago emcee/producer is currently facing. Kanye was hit with a $500,000 lawsuit over the illegal use of The Persuaders’ “Trying Girls Out” back in March.

Roscoe Dash Elaborates On Wale And Kanye West Complaints

Image

Roscoe Dash says music industry is “a dirty game” and that he should’ve been credited for working on songs for Wale and Kanye West.

Roscoe Dash stirred up controversy last week when he claimed that he was not properly credited for work he did on Wale’s “Lotus Flower Bomb” and G.O.O.D. Music’s “To the World,” from Cruel Summer, which features Kanye West and R. Kelly.

In an interview with MTV News, Dash elaborated on the claims. “I just want people to understand what people have to go through in the industry, what we have to deal with on a day-to-day basis,” he said of his Twitter rant. “No matter who you are, no matter what you’ve done in the past, it’s a dirty game.”

Dash revealed that he felt he had been taken advantage of. “People like myself who are generous, we like to go out and participate in other people’s stuff. We like to keep our hands in a lot of different things rather than just worry about one specific thing, which would be ourselves,” he continued. “Me particularly, just because of the past stuff I’ve been going through with my personal career, [I thought] maybe I don’t have to worry about this right now. Fuck talking about the album: Let’s go and do something else over here and get my mind off of this for minute so when I come back I have a clear head [and know] what I wanna do. [But] we get walked on a lot, and I just want people to know that it happens. Plain and simple.”

Neither Wale nor Kanye have responded to the accusations.

With his group set to release the upcoming It’s The World album, all eyes are on Young Jeezy right now, who also recently signed Philadelphia native Tone Trump.

New Yorker Wink Loc has also recently been brought onto the CTE scene, and during the “Thug Motivation” tour, Wink took a moment to detail meeting with the Hip-Hop heavyweight, Young Jeezy, through the tool of social media.

“That’s a funny story,” Wink Loc told AllHipHop.com in a recent interview. “Through Twitter – a lot of people won’t believe that he was supposed to do a show in Brooklyn, and a lot of people were tweeting him, telling him I had to open up for him. Jeezy;s manager hit me on Twitter like, ‘You’re not opening up, but you can send me some music.’”

After sending the music, Wink Loc says Young Jeezy’s manager reached back saying, “We are not going to say you can open up for us, but we can link.” Then, Wink Loc was flown to Miami and introduced to the family, and all the dots were connected.

About his upcoming mixtape, Wink Loc said, “Right now, I’m working on my project, Blue Steel .38 Special. You know I’m going to have all my brothers on there; this is a little different from my last two projects, Locomotive 1 & 2. Same concept, just more in tune with other people. Just working, working, working. I guess we all gearing up for theIt’s the World album.”
