The Weeknd Teases Trilogy of Albums

The Weeknd is working on another trilogy.

Fresh off the release of Dawn FM, the XO superstar took to Twitter to reveal that his latest album is part of a trilogy.

“i wonder… did you know you’re experiencing a new trilogy?” he cryptically asked his followers.

He didn’t provide more information, but fans have theorized that the trilogy includes his 2020 album After Hours, Dawn FM, and a third album called After Life, which was teased on Dawn FM.

The track “Every Angel Is Terrifying” serves as an ’80s-inspired promo for something called After Life.

“Intense, graphic, sexy, euphoric / Provocative, edgy, thought-provoking,” says Abel. “A suspenseful exposé / Cinema like you’ve never seen it before / The exotic, bizarre and beautiful world of ‘After Life.’”

He adds, “‘After Life’ can be yours for only $4.95 with a subscription when you order the ‘Best of Your Current Life’ Collection Series.”

This would technically not be The Weeknd’s first trilogy. In 2012, he released his Trilogy compilation, composed of re-mixed and remastered versions of his 2011 mixtapes House of Balloons, Thursday, and Echoes of Silence.

Dawn FM, which features Lil Wayne, Tyler, the Creator, and Quincy Jones, was released Friday to glowing reviews from fans and critics. Timbaland compared it to Michael Jackson’s Thriller, while Variety declared it “possibly The Weeknd’s best and most fully realized album to date.”

Meek Mill Says Smoking Weed Makes Him Depressed

Meek Mill

Meek Mill is opening up about his love/hate relationship with weed.

In a tweet, the Philly rapper said that smoking marijuana makes him feel depressed.

“I smoke weed everyday and get depressed and soon as I get high,” he told his 11 million Twitter followers. “I be happy as hell sober lol.”

However, there are some upsides. “It just helps me think deeper and more realistic lol,” he added.

His fans weighed in with their own theories on why he may be feeling down. “Weed is a downer. If your already depressed it does nothing but amplify that,” wrote one.

In November, Meek announced that he would be taking a break from social media because of the impact on his mental health.

“About to take a break from social media … I see too much crazy shit!” he wrote. “Being a young kid gotta be confusing as shit in these times of social media….. I be lost seeing some of this stuff.”

Meek, who dropped his album Expensive Pain in October, is now working on the fifth and final installment in his Dreamchasers mixtape series, which he plans to release as an NFT this year.

“You gone need a eTh address to hear this new mixtape … google how to get one asap! Now I can really rap,” he wrote.

Quavo and Karrueche Reignite Romance Rumors

Quavo and Karrueche

Quavo and Karrueche are back on.

Nearly five years after they first sparked romance rumors, the Migos rapper and “Claws” actress are seemingly back together. The two were spotted spending the first days of the new year on vacation in Saint Martin.

Photos obtained by The Shade Room show them standing together in a group. Quavo also popped up on Instagram Live and fans noticed Karrueche in the background, fueling speculation that they are dating again.

Back in 2017, it was reported that they were a couple following Karrueche’s high-profile breakup with Chris Brown.

Neither has addressed the latest rumors, but that didn’t stop social media from weighing in.

“Ouu don’t let Chris see this,” commented one person, while another added, “Here for it.”

Both are recently out of high-profile relationships. Karrueche split with Victor Cruz in early 2021 after dating for three years, while Quavo broke up with Saweetie last March.

Young Dolph’s Alleged Killer Filmed Music Video at Home Where Getaway Car Was Found

Justin Johnson

More details are emerging about the suspect in the murder of Young Dolph.

On Wednesday, police issued an arrest warrant for Justin Johnson, a 23-year-old Tennessee man who is accused of fatally shooting Dolph in November.

According to TMZ, Johnson is a Memphis-area rapper who goes by the name Straight Drop.

Shortly after Dolph was killed, detectives tracked down the getaway car, a white Mercedes-Benz E-Class coupe, in the driveway of a Memphis-area home, just three miles from the site of the shooting.

As it turns out, the same home where the car was found can be seen in the background of Johnson’s music video for “Going Straight In.” The video was released to YouTube four days after two masked gunmen opened fire on Dolph while he was at a Memphis bakery on Nov. 17. The killers fled in the white Mercedes.

Johnson, who is wanted for first-degree murder, has been added to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s “Most Wanted” list. A $15,000 reward is being offered for information leading to his arrest.

Grammy Awards Postponed Due to COVID-19

The Grammys have been pushed back.

The 64th annual ceremony has been officially postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, a spokesperson for the Recording Academy confirmed to Variety. A new date has not been announced yet.

“After careful consideration and analysis with city and state officials, health and safety experts, the artist community and our many partners, the Recording Academy and CBS have postponed the 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards Show,” read a statement on GRAMMY.com.

“The health and safety of those in our music community, the live audience, and the hundreds of people who work tirelessly to produce our show remains our top priority. Given the uncertainty surrounding the Omicron variant, holding the show on January 31st simply contains too many risks. We look forward to celebrating Music’s Biggest Night on a future date, which will be announced soon.”

The 2022 show was slated to take place on Jan. 31 before a full audience at the Crypto.com Arena (formerly known as the Staples Center) in downtown Los Angeles, but was delayed due to the recent COVID-19 surge caused by the Omicron variant.

It could be several months before the show takes place. Organizers are reportedly looking at a May or June date. The Grammys require a 10-day-plus lockout of the venue and the Crypto.com Arena does not show availability until June or even later.

HITS Daily Double reports that the entire show could move to Las Vegas, where there is more flexibility on performance spaces and hotel rooms.

This would be the second year in a row that the Grammys have been postponed due to COVID-19. Last year’s scaled-back event was delayed from Jan. 31, 2021 to March 14 and relocated from Staples to the nearby Los Angeles Convention Center.

Jon Batiste leads with 11 nominations, followed by Justin Bieber, Doja Cat, and H.E.R. with eight apiece. The show will be hosted for a second consecutive year by “Daily Show” host Trevor Noah.

Kanye West Parties with Instagram Model Yasmine Lopez

Kanye West

Kanye West is living the single life.

Amid his breakup from model Vinetria, Ye is sparking more romance rumors. According to TMZ, he was out partying with Instagram model Yasmine Lopez.

Kanye was in Houston for J Mulan’s birthday on Tuesday night (Dec. 28). He and internet personality Justin LaBoy pulled up to James Harden’s Thirteen restaurant in Houston for the bash. Video on social media shows Ye mingling with Lopez and J Mulan as his song “Number One” played over the speaker.

However, Ye and Yasmine are not hooking up. Sources close to both tell TMZ that they’re not dating. They were there separately and interacted, but there’s nothing romantic going on.

This comes as Kim Kardashian filed to be legally single from her husband while they work out the terms of their divorce. The Skims mogul, who is now dating Pete Davidson, is also seeking to drop “West” from her last name and restore her maiden name.

Ye seems to be moving on despite pleas to win back Kim. He recently broke up with model Vinetria after just a few months of dating. Prior to that, he was linked to supermodel Irina Shayk.

However, he wants to remain close to his family. He recently purchased the house directly across the street from Kim and their four kids in Hidden Hills, Calif. The billionaire bachelor paid $4.5 million for the 3,600-square-foot fixer-upper and plans to renovate it.

Kanye West Buys House Across the Street From Kim Kardashian

Never abandon your family.

Despite his divorce from Kim Kardashian, Kanye West wants to remain close to his family. The billionaire bachelor has paid $4.5 million for the house across the street from his estranged wife in the gated community of Hidden Hills, Calif.

According to Dirt.com, the single-story home was built in 1955 and has not been on the market in over 67 years. The 3,600-square-foot property features four bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, plus a guest studio with another bedroom and full bathroom. The equestrian ranch sits on over an acre of land, and also includes horse stables, a barn, and a pool.

Kanye used to live directly across the street with Kim and their four kids in their $60 million home. Kim paid Kanye $23 million to buy out his 50 percent stake in the minimalist mansion, which was featured in Architectural Digest.

This comes as Kanye has pleaded to keep his family together. While donating Thanksgiving meals at the L.A. Mission last month, he alluded to his new real estate purchase.

“I have to be next to my children as much as possible. So, when I’m out the house, I’ve got a house right next to the house. I’m doing everything to be right next to the situation,” he said.

Kanye also owns a house in nearby Malibu, which he purchased for $57.3 million in September. In October, he listed his Wyoming ranch for $11 million.

Despite his attempts to win back his wife, Kim recently filed to be legally single from Kanye amid their divorce proceedings. The Skims mogul, who is now dating Pete Davidson, is also seeking to drop “West” from her last name and restore her maiden name.

Doja Cat is capping off an incredible year, and she has more in store for 2022.

Taking to Instagram Live on Christmas Eve, the “Kiss Me More” hitmaker shared her future plans including two new projects, one pop and the other hip-hop.

Alicia Keys Is Now an Independent Artist

Alicia Keys is going independent.

With the release of her eighth studio album KEYS, the 15-time Grammy winner has officially fulfilled her recording contract with Sony Music and is now an independent artist.

“I’m so excited because KEYS is actually the last album I have on a major label,” she announced during a conversation with Genius on Twitter Spaces.

Alicia signed to J Records, a division of Sony, 20 years ago and released her 2001 debut Songs in A Minor, which catapulted her to superstardom and earned five Grammys.

She received congratulations from her “Empire State of Mind” collaborator JAY-Z, who was a surprise guest during the Twitter Spaces chat.

“Congratulations first of all, that’s an accomplishment,” said Hov. “The fact that you were signed to a label for 20 years is an amazing thing in itself, but the fact that you were able to complete your contract, not many people have been afforded that. That rarely happens for someone to maintain relevance through a contact like that.”

Swizz Beatz also congratulated his wife on the accomplishment. “Congrats my Love this is Big Big Big News and you deserve it to the MAX! 20yrs of greatness ! groundbreaking and unforgettable moments ! I love that you have this freedom at this time in your life it’s rare!!!!” he wrote.

Alicia’s final album under RCA/Sony, KEYS, was released Dec. 10 and featured collaborations with Lil Wayne, Pusha T, Swae Lee, Khalid, and more.

Future Thinks He Can Win Against JAY-Z in Verzuz

Future thinks he can take on JAY-Z in a Verzuz battle.

After declaring himself “bigger than Jigga” in the streets, the Atlanta rapper is weighing in on a potential matchup with Hov.

Big Bank, co-host of the “Big Facts Podcast,” shared his belief that people in Future’s hometown of Atlanta think Hndrxx could beat JAY-Z if they were to do Verzuz.

“I promise you, errbody from Atlanta feels like Pluto can win a Verzuz against Hov!” wrote Big Bank.

Future seemingly agreed that he could rival the Roc Nation boss and reposted the comment on his own IG Story.

This is not the first time Future has compared himself to Hov. He recently drew backlash for calling himself bigger than JAY-Z. “In the streets I’m bigger than jigga,” he tweeted last week. “Everything I do legendary or it want get done.”

But while Future may think he’s a worthy competitor, JAY-Z is not about to step in the Verzuz ring with anyone but himself.

“Can’t nobody stand on that stage with me. I ain’t gonna lie-no disrespect, everyone’s amazing in what they’ve done. No one can stand on stage with me,” he said during a recent Twitter Spaces chat.

“There’s not a chance in hell that anyone can stand on that stage with me for I don’t know how long it is, two hours,” he added. “You gotta stand in front of the ‘Grammy Family (Freestyle)’ live. No one’s ever even seen me perform that and you gotta stand in front of that. That ain’t gonna never happen, man.”
