The two will be at the Independent Filmmaker’s Lounge on January 24th making an announcement about an upcoming project that they are working on. Ghost and Raekwon will be at the “#PurpleCarpet Screening” for a preview of a movie that they are releasing later in the year.
Thanks to an Iggy Azalea quote Hip-Hop fans all over were up in arms once again. As reported on yesterday Iggy while doing an interview with GQ said she thinks she sparked change in Hip-Hop. Hot 97’s Ebro radio personality decided to make fun of what Iggy said posting a photo of a unhappy baby in relation to Iggy saying she sparked a change in Hip-Hop. When Iggy saw this she responded quickly on twitter saying “I’m talking about changing who we accept having a voice in hip hop. As the only white, Australian,woman with a 1#.” Then she went on to add, “you can meme all you want but I have change many ppls opinions about allowing different voices to be heard.” Plus “u guys are the BIGGEST haters you try to exaggerate everything I say to make it seem like I have a god-like complex.” So if I was Hot 97 I wouldn’t expect Iggy to make any more stops by my radio show.
On Twitter, Busta Rhymes posted a handwritten letter thanking everyone for the success of the new hit single, “CoCo” by O.T. Kid Cudi Tweeted that he has zero plans to work on the new album without his crew: “I can’t/won’t make MOTM3 w/o Pat, Emile & A Trak in the studio. We started together, we finish this together. I can’t create the magic yall want without their energy and genius to bounce off of,”
LL Cool J has been asked to return to the Grammy’s as the host for 2015: “I’m thrilled to again be part of Music’s Biggest Night. For Martin Luther King Day, A$ap Ferg visited a Washington D.C. middle school, assisting with murals and enhancing their music room: “This is a tough time in my life, I want to be around family, be around friends and people that genuinely care about my well-being and just my fans that love my music and love what I do,” Ferg explained. “That’s why I came here. I came to give back to the kids. I came to talk to the kids, tell them that they can do whatever they want to do in life. I’ve made it… I’m just here to let kids know that you can dream big, you can put out any type of music that you want to put out.”
Rapper Doughbeezy from Houston was the victim of a home invasion on Tuesday. The invasion left one suspect dead and another arrested and Doughbeezy was found to be pistol whipped. The invasion happened around 9:20 PM outside of the rappers friend’s house where two male suspects came up and pistol whipped Doughbeezy forcing the family into the home. Beezy managed to get to his car and grab a gun coming back and shooting one of the suspects sending the other off running only to be caught later by police.
There is no denying the fact that Iggy Azalea had a very successful 2014 despite all the hate she has received from hip-hop fans all over. In a recent interview with GQ magazine when asked about the harsh things that are said to her and how she copes Iggy said she really doesn’t care about what people in the industry and other artist think as long as the fans are supporting her and voting for her. “I was a fan of rap music growing up, and I didn’t feel like there were enough characters that represented me and my situation. So I think it’s needed.” She said.
While speaking to ESPN magazine Wale let loose some information of his plans for the future of the Wizards which is said to include some new jerseys. “I want to be a shot in the arm to DC basketball, My job is to provide a spark, at all costs. I’m not going to do anything corny, but I’m talking to Kanye about designing new uniforms. I want to see the phone booth rocking every time I come here. I want to create the ‘Lake Show,’ create what the Bulls had. I want to take the personality of our stars—John [Wall], Otto [Porter], Marcin [Gortat]—and create what Kemp and Payton had, what LeBron and D-Wade had. That’s the vibe I want.”
Though the Grammys can’t always be trusted when it comes to Hip-Hop nominations they have picked some prime figures to perform this year at the awards. The likes of Usher, Pharrell, Common, and John Legend are set to perform on the Grammy stage. Pharrell is looking at six nominations this year so be sure to tune in February 8th to see who gets one of music’s most prestigious award.
Chance The Rapper visited Chicago today, to give back to his community. He was very appreciative of the celebrities who gave back with him, who were not even from Chicago. Chance thanked everyone on Instagram: “It means a lot when celebs come to the city and give back to a community they aren’t from,” Chance wrote via Instagram. “Made a good friend today.”

Among others, Big Sean discussed his disappointment in the rap that has been out recently: “I feel like there are flaws on the first album [and] flaws on the second album,” Big Sean said. “I don’t know if I’ll ever drop an album that doesn’t have any flaws…I probably will drop a perfect album one day. I’m going to master that…There’s not a lot of good rap music out there. Now that Lil Wayne has had his public disagreements with Cash Money, Charlamagne thinks differently of the record label: “That’s gotta hurt. Because Lil Wayne has been with Baby forever…My thing is how can anybody want to be in business with Birdman after watching Lil Wayne complain. For what is the second time. Remember back in the day when Juve and B.G. and all them left? Wayne was about to leave at one point with Roc-A-Fella for like the same reasons. The money was funny and whatnot. August Alsina while performing in St. Louis at anti-violence concert called “State of Emergency 2” with all proceeds going to the “Put down the Pistol” program. A fight had broken out between the shows promoter Loose Cannon Slim and August Alsina because Slim was upset that August showed up late. Fabolous was also backstage but he made sure to stay clear of the fighting.
