Hot 97 is home to big radio personalities such as Ebro, Perter Rosenberg, Miss Info, and Funkmaster Flex. This is interesting because Flex has just been going on rants the last week aimed at Jay Z and has even said that Jay Z can’t control the higher ups at his station. Hodgy Beats says MellowHype duo is no more
A sub duo of the rap collective Odd Future, MellowHype, which consisted of artist Hodgy Beats and Left Brain is coming to an end says Hodgy. In an interview Hodgy said that he and Left Brain would no longer be known as MellowHype. Though the two are still going to make music together they will not be a part of the sub duo anymore. The reasoning coming from Hodgy is that the two are getting older and want to change things up. “I believe we’re individuals. He feels the same way as well. We just individual people but we work together and everybody needs their own identity. It’s a big refocus. Nah, we ain’t breaking up. Nah, this ain’t any weirdo shit. It’s just some real shit. It’s a refocus. Going from boys to men this is what it is. So it either understands it, ’cause it will be explained–cry about it, talk shit, applaud us–we still moving.” Hodgy said.

Funkmaster Flex calls Jay Z’s blog “Life + Times” trash
During a radio rant last night Funkmaster Flex made it really clear what he thinks about Jay Z’s blog called “Life + Times” dropping an excessive amount of bombs during the rant. When broken down the rant was this few years back Life + Times had interviewed Flex about his app “DJ Funk Flex” app asking a lot of questions about the creation of the app which didn’t end up in the interview. What they did instead was use his information to create their own app according to flex. Jump back to present day and Life + Times emails Flex asking about asking about his involvement in the upcoming Dipset mixtape which turned to Flex getting on the radio and going on a rant saying “you KNOW my involvement.”,, “I don’t understand how someone from that site can ask me my involvement in the Dipset reunion, but when I used to go out to the 40/40 I was told not to play any Dipset records. I’m so confused.” And “The site is trash, a bunch of dumb big pictures and no numbers. Y’all can’t move with me in this digital space.” We’ll see if this actually gets any involvement from Jay Z himself but as of right now it seems that Flex just has a problem with the people that run his blog.

Lupe Fiasco doesn’t want to be relevant in today’s world
Lupe has deleted his twitter account once and for all saying that he wanted to “go back to the shadows.” When asked about his not wanting to be relevant Lupe had the following to say. “I don’t want to be relevant today. I don’t want to be the go-to guy for the club song or to speak on all the dumb shit that’s going around. I’m happy being that somewhat sophisticated, overly deep weird guy making powerful music — but just two or three degrees away from the center of attention. There is a new generation speaking to a new generation, so you have a Kendrick Lamar and a J. Cole and the other people who are the new Lupes. I don’t have the same lingo. I don’t sip lean or smoke weed. I can’t compete with a Wiz Khalifa for the attention of a 12-year old.

You know what I mean? Cause people already knew me…Again, I could have easily put that dirt on her. As far as what she did. And how it went down. Cause she was a fan of mines. Me and her were friends, the whole nine. And then for her to do that it kind of made me look at what happened with Puffy. When Puffy got her fired and people was—And her and Treach had the argument. You start hearing Red and Meth. You start hearing people like that. I knew ‘Oh, this is a big game.’ This is a big ploy for her to get famous because all of a sudden it’s 1,000 names.”
