New Book Reveals Biggie Wanted Tupac To Replace Puffy As Manager
Way before “Hit ‘Em Up” ever came to his mind, Tupac allegedly mentored Notorious B.I.G. as he was starting a regional, fledgling rap career. An interview on the “Murder Master Music Show,” author Ben Westhoff said he has all the details on the early relationship between the West Coast and East Coast legends and says that early in his career Biggie asked Tupac to be his manager. The information was part of Westhoff’s findings in his new book, Original Gangstas: The Untold Story of Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, Ice Cube, Tupac Shakur, and the Birth of West Coast Rap. “People forget that Tupac was already blowing up, already a pretty big star when Biggie was just kind of getting started,” he says. “Tupac kind of took Biggie under his wing and tried to teach him everything he knew, kind of took him to school. Biggie’s career wasn’t taking off as fast as he hoped it would. And so he actually asked Tupac if he would be his manager, and Tupac said, ‘No I think you should stick with Puffy and he’ll get you where you need to be.’” The rest is history. The book is set for a September 13th release.

The Game – Bluffing Or Bragging About Kardashians
California rapper The Game could ruffle more than a few feathers with his latest track,“Sauce.” Released this past weekend, “Sauce” contains one prideful lyric that seems to be intended to cause some controversy. The lyric alleges The Game has slept with “three Kardashians,” most likely referring to the eldest of the siblings Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe Kardashian. “I used to fuck bitches that Usher Raymond passed off / Then I fucked three Kardashians, hold that thought,” The Game raps on “Sauce.”
Whether The Game was bragging by letting the cat out of the bag, or if he was bluffing, engaging in a little fictional boasting with the lyric remains unknown. All parties have remained silent on the matter. On a number of occasions it was rumored that The Game and Khloe Kardashian were dating, but during an interview with E! last year, the rapper confirmed that “Khloé’s just a really good friend.” “Sauce,” which features DJ Khaled, may be featured on The Game’s upcoming 1992 album.
Young Thug Evolves Into NMNIJ
Young Thug is no more, according to 300 Entertainment co-founder Lyor Cohen. In an interview with Rap Radar, Thug’s label owner attempted to explain the odd name change as a marketing/rebranding concept by 300 to showcase the evolution of the artist and suggested that there’s a commercial coming soon that will be the vehicle for the big name change reveal. “Young Thug is not going to be Young Thug anymore. His new name is gonna be ‘No, My Name Is Jeffery,’” Cohen said. “And the reality is when you see this commercial you’re all gonna understand what we do at 300.” He talked about how Thug’s new name is the next step as an artist, and seemed serious about the transition. “Please respect us to actually segue and utilize his name going forward, ok? Because it’s important,”. Meanwhile, NMNIJ is promoting his upcoming Jeffery project, posting a handwritten tracklist and some posts that hinted at an August 16 release date, which coincides with the rapper’s 25th birthday. It’s tough to figure out some of the song titles, but the theme seems to be that the songs are named after celebrities, including Floyd Mayweather, Elton John and Birdman.
Chance The Rapper Talks Police-Community Relations & The U.S. Justice System
The rise of the Black Lives Matter movement ignited activists, politicians, and police officials to look for new solutions to the sometimes complicated relationship between cops and the citizens they serve. Chance The Rapper is adding his voice to the topic of excessive force by law enforcement. The Chicago artist addressed the issue in a recent Billboard Cover story. “There’s a larger conversation we need to have about the role of police officers, their relationship to the people as enemy or executioner, when they’re not supposed to be either,” said Chance. “There’s also not enough pressure on internal organizations that are supposed to police the police and on judges in the justice system who are supposed to make reasonable decisions.” The creator of the acclaimed Coloring Book project has also been an advocate for ending the street violence taking place in his hometown. In 2014, Chance’s #SaveChicago campaign forced a ceasefire for 42 hours over Memorial Day weekend. A year later, he took part in a non-violent youth poetry festival in the windy city. The “No Problem” rhymer has also spoken with President Barack Obama about the My Brother’s Keeper initiative for male minority youth and criminal justice reform.
Even Tyga’s Got To Pay The Rent
Compton rapper Tyga can kick back in peace now that the settlement with an ex-landlord has been reached. PEOPLE MAGAZINE reports that an unknown settlement has been reached between Tyga and his ex-landlord, Gholamreza Rezai. As part of the agreement, the land owner’s attorney will ask that the bench warrant issued on Tyga be removed. “There has been a settlement reached to the mutual satisfaction of the parties, the terms of which are confidential,” an attorney for Rezai told PEOPLE.
The judge could have refused the request to remove the warrant since Tyga defied the court by skipping out on Tuesday’s appearance date. Recently reported by TMZ is that the arrest warrant has been recalled. Tyga is said to have owed his ex-landlord close to $500,000 after missing numerous rent payments for his Malibu area home and leaving a substantial damage bill. This is not the first time the rapper has owed up on some rent, just last year he was ordered by the court to pay $70,000 to the owner of a home he had been renting.
Killer Mike Not Voting For Clintrump
Killer Mike has revealed that he’s unsure where his vote will land in this coming November’s Presidential election, but did state that he’s “definitely not with him or her,” in regards to Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. While speaking on the United States’ destabilization of foreign countries and its status as “an empirical force,” the Atlanta rapper shared his belief that voting for either Trump or Clinton wouldn’t change the status quo on foreign affairs. “I do think our government has done a great job at destabilizing countries and creating enemies…If you’re voting for Trump or Hillary Clinton, you’re voting for the same thing. All of us as citizens need to kind of get over our classism and vote for the betterment of us all,” Killer Mike said in an interview with TMZ. Killer Mike, who was a vocal supporter of Bernie Sanders, also offered his thoughts on the latest round of controversial comments made by Trump. Commenting on a remark Trump recently made, which some suggested hinted at Clinton being assassinated, he explained that he doesn’t feel that’s what Trump was saying.
“I don’t think that’s what he was saying…I hope that’s not what he was saying. He’s batshit crazy, but I don’t think he would call for the assassination of another presidential candidate…My thing is Donald Trump is essentially repeating the same stuff I hear when I watch Fox News, so I’m not surprised by it.”

There’s A New #1 Battle Rapper In America
In the subjective world of unjudged rap battles, there’s no official record to show who’s been served and who is really at the top of the game. However, setting a benchmark based on YouTube views offers a very tangible metric that speaks to a rapper’s popularity and relevance. For years, New Jersey rapper Arsonal had been the #1 most-viewed, English-speaking battle MC, but that changed on Friday, August 5th. According to Versetracker, a website that archives rap battles and tabulates the statistics behind them, the new king is DNA. The Queens battle veteran has generated almost 48.3 million views spanning 91 battles, for an average count of over half a million per battle. Those numbers come partly from his willingness to take on seemingly anyone, anywhere, at any time, but also from his ability to maintain a positive working relationship with all of the biggest leagues in the English-language scene. Since his on-camera debut for Grind Time in 2009, he’s become a regular fixture on URL, King Of The Dot and Don’t Flop, and has produced bona fide classics for those leagues and more. To be noted, DNA is only the #1 English-language battler. He’s #8 in the world, behind seven Filipino rappers, including Loonie, who at #1 has 101 million views in 16 battles.
Watch the two most-viewed American battlers go at it below.
