Having college courses about your music isn’t something songwriters ever strive for, but artist like 2Pac and Bruce Springsteen have achieved it at accredited universities. There is now a college course that centers on the lyrics of Kendrick Lamar called “Good Kid, Mad Cities,” It is being offered this fall at Georgia Regents University. The Professor Adam Diehl says he chose the album because of its focus on social issues. Things like gang violence, child-family development in the inner city, drug use and the war on drugs. A lot of the topics in Kendrick album are hot topics in society today.
