Trump Pardons Lil Wayne and Kodak Black

Lil Wayne and Kodak Black have been pardoned.
On Wednesday morning (Jan. 20), the rappers were officially granted clemency by Donald Trump as part of a last-minute wave of pardons and commutations during the president’s final hours in office.
Wayne was facing up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to illegally possessing a firearm while traveling on a private plane in December 2019. The rapper met with Trump during a campaign stop in October and tweeted his support for the president’s criminal justice reform efforts.
“President Trump granted a full pardon to Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., also known as ‘Lil Wayne,'” read a statement from White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany. “Mr. Carter pled guilty to possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon, owing to a conviction over 10 years ago. Brett Berish of Sovereign Brands, who supports a pardon for Mr. Carter, describes him as ‘trustworthy, kind-hearted and generous.'”
“Mr. Carter has exhibited this generosity through commitment to a variety of charities, including donations to research hospitals and a host of foodbanks. Deion Sanders, who also wrote in support of this pardon, calls Mr. Wayne ‘a provider for his family, a friend to many, a man of faith, a natural giver to the less fortunate, a waymaker, [and] a game changer.'”

Just had a great meeting with @realdonaldtrump @potus besides what he’s done so far with criminal reform, the platinum plan is going to give the community real ownership. He listened to what we had to say today and assured he will and can get it done. 🤙🏾 pic.twitter.com/Q9c5k1yMWf

Kodak Black, whose legal name is Bill Kapri, had been serving a 46-month sentence in a Kentucky federal prison for falsifying paperwork to obtain a firearm. In November, the “Tunnel Vision” rapper publicly pleaded with the president to free him in advance of his August 2022 release date. In return, he promised to donate $1 million to charity. Lil Yachty, Yo Gotti, and Lil Pump had lobbied Trump for his clemency.
“Kodak Black is a prominent artist and community leader,” McEnany said in the statement, while praising Black’s philanthropic efforts. “He has committed to supporting a variety of charitable efforts, such as providing educational resources to students and families of fallen law enforcement officers and the underprivileged. In addition to these efforts, he has paid for the notebooks of school children, provided funding and supplies to daycare centers, provided food for the hungry, and annually provides for underprivileged children during Christmas.”
Earlier in the day, Trump commuted the prison sentence of Death Row Records co-founder Michael “Harry-O” Harris, who was serving a life sentence for attempted murder and cocaine trafficking. Snoop Dogg and Alice Marie Johnson had both lobbied for his release.
“I love what they did,” Snoop said of the president and his aides. “That’s great work for the president and his team on the way out.”
Trump also granted clemency to former White House aide Steve Bannon in a controversial decision made only hours before he is scheduled to depart the White House on Wednesday.

Death Row Records Co-Founder Michael ‘Harry O’ Harris Pardoned by Trump With Snoop Dogg’s Help

There were reports earlier that Snoop Dogg was trying to get President Trump to pardon Death Row Records co-founder Michael “Harry O” Harris before he leaves the President office.
It looks like it has been done. Forbes confirms that Michael “Harry-O” Harris, who was sentenced to 19 years for his role in a cocaine trafficking ring, has been officially pardoned by Trump. Snoop had been lobbying Trump to get his friend freed from his attempted murder conviction. He regular release year was 2028.

He petitioned for compassionate release in 2019, citing concern over complications that could arise from contracting Covid-19 while also suffering from Guillain-Barré Syndrome, an autoimmune disorder. His petition was denied but he was finally granted a full pardon in this last batch of presidential pardons, announced on Tuesday.
“It feels like the weight of the world was just lifted off my shoulders,” Harry-O commented through an intermediary, Weldon Angelos of Mission Green, after learning the news of his full pardon over the weekend.
“I love what they did,” Snoop said to NY Post, in granting clemency to Death Row Records co-founder Michael “Harry O” Harris. “That’s great work for the president and his team on the way out. They did some great work while they was in there and they did some great work on their way out. Let them know that I love what they did, he continued.
“It is amazing what the work of God can actually bring to life to make people understand that there is a God.”

Report: Kanye West and Kim Kardashian Have Stopped Going to Marriage Counseling

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s attempts to save their marriage have been unsuccessful.
A new report from PEOPLE claims that the couple was in marriage counseling but they have “completely” stopped going, a sign that divorce may be imminent.
“He is talking to divorce lawyers this week,” a source said of Kanye.
Just two weeks ago, it was reported that Kim had hired high-profile divorce attorney Laura Wasser and was planning to file for divorce from West.
“They are just not on the same page when it comes to their future as a family,” an insider told PEOPLE. “And Kim is okay with it.”
The source claims that Kim grew distant from Kanye following his failed presidential run and public struggles with bipolar disorder. “Kim has become more independent and has lost patience with his antics, rants, the presidential campaign and tweets,” added the source.
According to PEOPLE, the couple’s romance has been over for more than a year, even prior to talks of divorce. “The love story between Kim and Kanye has been over for a long time, more than a year,” said the insider. “They adored each other but have too many differences.”
Kim has yet to officially end her six-year marriage to West. The couple, who married in May 2014, shares four children—daughters North, 7, and Chicago, 3, and sons Saint, 5, and Psalm, 20 months.
“She will do everything she can for the kids to have a great relationship with Kanye,” said the source. “She just doesn’t want to be married to him.”
Kim last acknowledged their relationship on Nov. 22 when she celebrated the 10th anniversary of Kanye’s album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. On Tuesday, she shared a bikini-clad photo of herself sunbathing while quoting lyrics from Jeremih’s “Paradise.” “This is more than life…this is paradise,” she wrote.

Pop Smoke Makes Posthumous Acting Debut in ‘Boogie’

Long live the Woo.
Before his tragic death in February 2019, Pop Smoke filmed what would become his posthumous acting debut in Boogie, the directorial debut of Eddie Huang (“Fresh Off the Boat”).
In the coming-of-age story, Taylor Takahashi stars as Alfred “Boogie” Chin, a Chinese American basketball prodigy in Queens, New York, who has dreams of playing in the NBA, while Pop (born Bashar Jackson) plays Boogie’s basketball rival Monk.
The Brooklyn rapper’s song “Got It On Me” is also featured in the trailer and the soundtrack features new music from Pop Smoke.

In an interview with The New York Times last year, Huang said he knew Pop was a star the moment he auditioned for the role.
“Pop shows up to the audition — Palm Angels head to toe — and he’s just a kid, but he has the voice of 50 Cent and Paul Mooney,” he said. “You can tell he’s weathered, he’s an old soul. Within two takes, you could see the swag just come out of nowhere. He explodes on camera. I stopped the audition right there. He can turn emotions on a dime. He could be funny. He can be mean. A lot of actors just don’t have the depth of emotion and experiences, but because of what Pop’s gone through, he has a tremendous well to draw from.”
Boogie is scheduled for release on March 5.
Meanwhile, Pop’s posthumous debut Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon remains in the top 10 six months after its release. The album sits at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 this week with 47,000 units.

Death Row Records Co-Founder Pardoned After Snoop Dogg Lobbies Trump

In the final full day of Donald Trump’s presidency, Snoop Dogg is hoping for a pardon for his friend.
According to TMZ, the rap icon is reportedly asking the president to free Death Row Records co-founder Michael “Harry-O” Harris from an attempted murder conviction.
During the presidential transition, Snoop has been secretly lobbying Trump to commute Harris’ sentence. Alice Marie Johnson, whose life sentence was commuted by Trump with the help of Kim Kardashian, is also seeking clemency for Harris and says the president is aware of Harris’ case.
“The president knows about it. I’ve spoken with Ivanka [Trump] and I’ve spoken with Jared [Kushner], and I’ve been told that President Trump is aware of the case and has been reviewing it,” Johnson told The Daily Beast. “I’ve spoken to [White House chief of staff] Mark Meadows about it, and he said he’d take a look at it.”
Harris, who is nearly 60, started Death Row Records with Suge Knight in 1992 and helped sign Snoop and Tupac to the label. He is serving time on attempted murder and drug charges at California’s Federal Correctional Institution Lompoc. Harris has been incarcerated for nearly 30 years and is not supposed to be released until at least 2028, but he insists that he’s a changed man.
“Over 30 years ago, I was part of the problem. However, over the years I have repeatedly proven myself to be part of the solution,” Harris told the Daily Mail in 2019. “It’s about returning to society with my newfound vision, talents, and insights [and] giving back to the communities where my help is so desperately needed.”
Snoop has been an outspoken critic of Trump in the past. In 2017, he mocked the president in his “Lavender (Remix)” video by pulling a novelty gun on a Trump look-alike named Donald Klump.
“Can you imagine what the outcry would be if @SnoopDogg, failing career and all, had aimed and fired the gun at President Obama? Jail time!” Trump tweeted amid the controversy.
In addition to Harris, Lil Wayne and Kodak Black are reportedly being considered for pardons. Trump is expected to announce his remaining grants of clemency before he leaves office on Wednesday.
UPDATE: On Tuesday (Jan. 19), President Trump commuted the prison sentence of Michael “Harry-O” Harris for attempted murder and cocaine trafficking, according to the New York Post.
Snoop Dogg and Alice Marie Johnson had lobbied for the Death Row Records co-founder’s release, along with music producer Weldon Angelos, who credited the president’s daughter Ivanka Trump for her role in commuting Harris’ sentence.
“The credit on this one goes to Ivanka Trump because Ivanka Trump was not going to take no for an answer,” said Angelos, who added that Ivanka “did this for Alice Johnson and this is a huge win for hip-hop.”
Harris’ release comes seven years before it was scheduled to take place on June 13, 2028.

Charlie Puth Claims Drake’s ‘Certified Lover Boy’ Is Dropping This Week

Kaito

1.19.2021 News

Drake’s Certified Lover Boy may be dropping as soon as this week.
While an official announcement has yet to be made, a release date has leaked from an unexpected source—Charlie Puth. The singer-songwriter claims to know when the long-awaited album is dropping. Taking to Twitter on Monday (Jan. 18), Puth announced that CLB would arrive this Thursday, Jan. 21.
“Drakes dropping on the 21st,” he wrote.

HOL’ UP…lemme find out Charlie Puth know something I don’t! 👀🤔🙏🏽 Y’all think this Drake ‘CLB’ album is dropping this week⁉️ pic.twitter.com/lDbWIXy9G5
— Power 106 (@Power106LA) January 19, 2021

The tweet was deleted while some fans questioned how Puth would know such information, speculating that he may have contributed to the project. The two have not previously worked together, but Puth has shared his thoughts on Drake’s music and covered his hit “Hotline Bling” with Kehlani in 2015.

If Drake put out a record that had the same tempo as Vogue by Madonna, and maybe even sounded a little bit like it, it would be the biggest thing ever.
— Charlie Puth (@charlieputh) March 14, 2020

It’s unclear if the Jan. 21 date is accurate, but a release does appear to be approaching. In October, Drake announced that his sixth studio would arrive sometime in January and there are only two Fridays left in the month. On Monday (Jan. 18), Drake posted a photo from the studio on Instagram Stories. Earlier this month, he reportedly shot a video with Meek Mill in the Bahamas.
Meanwhile, the 6 God continues to make history. He became the first and only artist to hit 50 billion combined streams on Spotify.

During the nearly hour long presentation, there was a touching tribute from Yams’ mother, some freestyles from the Mob members as well as Rowdy Rebel and some awards given to rappers such as Lil Baby and Young Thug.
