Quincy Jones and Kendrick Lamar got together and discussed their musical inspirations: “We went through 800 songs,” Jones says, “’cause I learned 50 years ago that a great song can make the worst singer a star and a bad song cannot be saved by the three best singers in the world. So we went through 800 for Michael. We got a great singer. He’s got a great song. It’s over “You don’t go for money or fame, ’cause if you do the shit that moves you, it’s gonna happen,” he says. “Music will never be more or less than you are as a human being, ’cause you get back what you give.”

Aaliyah, former singer, is having a new fragrance made for her by Xyrena CEO Killian Wells. “I grew up with Aaliyah’s music. As a huge fan, this is a very personal release for me and my company. We set out to create a fragrance to be cherished by Aaliyah’s fans and also introduce her to a new generation.” This new Aaliyah fragrance is unisex, according to Xyrena’s website: unisex fragrance leans masculine, a nod to Aaliyah’s favored men’s scents that fall in line with her sexy tomboy image. The formula is a hue of black, Aaliyah’s favorite color. Aaliyah by Xyrena contains base notes of vanilla, sandalwood, amber, and jasmine; middle notes of black pepper, violet and leather; with top notes of mint, lavender and mandarin.”

Lil Wayne, during a recent interview, detailed his opinion on the newest film “straight Outta Compton.” Wayne mentioned it had a few flaws but was still great:

“It was awesome. Of course they left a lot out but the movie was great. They had some characters in there that didn’t get it right, but that’s OK.”

A$AP Rocky made an appearance on Pharrell’s beats 1 radio show and let lose that he had been working with DJ Danger Mouse. When asked if the two have a concept album planned out Rocky replied to Pharrell with “We kind of already did. Danger Mouse is ill. People don’t appreciate that kind of shit. There’s no lyrics out there. What’s important about this, he told me, ‘yo dude, you bring out a side in me that I need’. And I feel he brings out a side in me. We got records. I can’t wait to let you hear them.” The collab can be very interesting and fans of Rocky are always looking for new projects from him and it seems like this one can be right around the corner.

Chris Brown decided to bring his daughter Royalty on stage with him after he won his custody battle. Chris brought her out during his show in Albuquerque with Kid Ink also on the stage the two had been peforming their song “Show Me”. Check out the video below. Check out the video right here.

 

 

Legendary member of Wu-Tang, RZA,  has been in the film making realm for quite some time now. Now he has another project coming together that will be an action-thriller which is a really cool genre. This new film will begin it’s filming in early 2016 and this film will focus on a photographer who is arrested falsely in Bangladesh for charges of drug trafficking and his father is the one trying to rescue him. The films script was written by Richard D’Ovidio who worked on films like “The Damned”, “The Call”, and “Thir13een Ghosts”. Hopefully this movie turns out great and fans enjoy it.

Future has a line of hats on the horizon and we know this because Future actually took to his Instagram to make the announcement. “for the 1s who embrace individuality style, my hat line comin $oon…” the caption read from Future. If you have seen future recently you will know his new style of hats and it is different only time will tell if people actually gravitate to the style.

Apparently, Plies recently posted a clip of Young thug’s daughter on Instagram to portray his mood at the time. Once Young thug saw the video, he posted a threatening video stating that if Plies were not to remove the video, there would be “serious problems”. Today Plies responded back via Instagram saying the following: “Ion Disrespect Nobody Children. If you had a problem with it, fuck n*gga, you ask me to take it down. You don’t threaten me to do nothing, pussy n*gga.”

Perri Boi and TIP have had their issues, Perri Boi finally released a track aimed at TIP: “Talk about a Doe album but we ain’t see shit. You promised Doe a mill but don’t fill now you say you don’t owe shit. I feel you though, see I could get a hundred mill or kill a hundred men but if you talk about G code you know the streets know you and I know you need it though. Nobody fuck with Hustle Gang until you fucked with Doe.”

Justus, a Dallas Rapper, discusses the rap industry in Dallas: “Now that I have the opportunity that I have now, I’m definitely gonna go back and help expose it. There’s not necessarily an in to the industry. In a lot of those places you can get in because the people you are around are in the game. They are in the industry. You have Chamillionaire or Paul Wall or whoever you wanna say from Houston. Back in the day, they was helping people launch and get into the industry. I think there’s not many doors in Dallas and once you find one, everybody’s trying to squeeze into it.”

After being questioned about football during an interview, rapper Pusha T gave his honest opinion: “In all honesty, we have so many players from Virginia, that I really — I bounce,” he said when asked who he roots for. “Like all the players are from Virginia, and I really came up with a lot of these guys. Either I looked up to them [because] they were a little older, or they’re younger, like I was giving them boxes of Play Cloths [his clothing line] when they were doing their thing — whatever. I stand out for the young ones just like I do for the old ones, just seeing them make it.”

Coming up on September 29^th the London action house called Sotheby’s is going to be auctioning off some hip-hop history. They will be auctioning off two sheets of lyrics that Tupac had wrote while he was in prison in 1995. The big one that everyone wants is the sheet of paper that has the lyrics to “Ambitionz Az A Ridah” on it which is one of the late rappers biggest songs. The bidding is to start at $47,000 and they expect it to sell for around $78,000.

Jay Rock has finally dropped his much anticipated studio album “90059” on iTunes. Jay Rock has been on the back burner of TDE for quite some time but It is great to see him finally get a project out for all of his fans. With fellow group mates like Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, and Ab-Soul featuring on the album he is getting a lot of love and support from all sides. The album has eleven tracks on it with other features from the likes of Busta Rhymes, Lance Skiiwalker, and Isaiah Rashad so hopefully this project does well and Jay Rock gets the attention he deserves. Chris Brown and his baby mama, Nia Guzman, have not been on the best of terms for a while now and Brown is not happy with her antics over social media. While the two were in court just his morning for the custody of their child together Brown also filed some documents for an injunction that actually would block Guzman from bashing him over social media. Brown actually came out victorious in the custody battle too when it was all said and done Brown got joint custody of thier daughter and will get four days a week with her. Another win for Chris is the fact that the judge allowed him to keep paying $2,500 a month for child support instead of the $15,000 the mother wanted from him.

“GO:OD AM” is the title of Mac Millers upcoming album that many fans can’t wait to get their hands on. Good news for anyone in the Pittsburgh area though is that Mac will actually be having a 5-day long festival for the release of the album which is a pretty huge deal.
