50 Cent recently had an interview with Hot 93.7 and revealed some interesting information about his upcoming “Street King Immortal” album. 50 says that both Kendrick Lamar and Chris Brown will be featured on the upcoming album. This is huge and is something fans should be excited about because Kendrick is not known to mess up a feature.
De Rico, an R&B singer, is suing Justin Bieber and Usher for a whopping $10 million in damages for ripping off his song “Somebody to Love”. Rico claims that the track infringes on copyright by mean of “beat pattern, similar chords, lyrics, and time signature.” The suit was filed two years ago originally but was thrown out by the judge but was voted to return to a Judge Allen recently. “After listening to the Copeland song and the Bieber and Usher songs as wholes, we conclude that their choruses are similar enough and also significant enough that a reasonable jury could find the songs intrinsically similar,” Pamela Harris wrote who is a Circuit court judge. The Game spent some time with Louis Farrakhan on Wednesday who was one of the people who organized the first Million Man March in 1995. Game took to his instagram to announce that he would be one of the leaders at the 20th Anniversay march this October. The last march brought 837 thousand people but the leaders hope that bringing in rappers and other artist that young people look up to will bring in more youth and they can truly hit one million marchers.
Vice is now reporting that a former LAPD detective, Russell Poole, believes that he knows who shot Tupac. The story goes like this “A jailhouse informant wrote a local crime reporter telling him that Malcolm Patton, his brother, and a Long Beach Crip named Donald Smith killed Tupac with assistance from Death Row security guard Reggie Wright, Jr. and Suge Knight’s wife. The crime reporter than passed along the information to Poole.” When speaking to Vice Poole had this to say ”If this was Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra who got murdered, there would’ve been arrests a long time ago, this case can be solved, but needs police follow-up. There are clues sitting right in front of the police. It’s a travesty of justice.” Who knows if this story is true but is interesting.
Fans of Drake and his OVO apparel will be excited to know that the Toronto label has announced on their twitter that their summer 2015 collection will be dropping in their Toronto store on June 20th and online on June 24. Fans in and around Toronto will be making the trip to cop some fresh new OVO brand clothing.
Lil Wayne has been doing a ton of nightclub shows around the country in support of his most recently released mixtape Sorry 4 The Wait 2. Just last night Wayne was in Anaheim California taking to the stage and brought along a special announcement for his fans. The Free Weezy Album will be dropping on July 4th just in time for all the family BBQ and festivities. Details of the album still remain under lock and key and everything is hinting at TIDAL exclusivity which would alienate a ton of Waynes Loyal fans but we’ll see what happens. BET has been steadily letting people know who will be performing at the upcoming BET Awards. Kendrick Lamar and Chris Brown were recently announced which garnered a lot of excitement from their fans. Yesterday BET announced that Meek Mill and Ne-Yo will be joining the list of performers which could also bring Nicki Minaj out too like Meek has been doing at some of his bigger performances lateley. The Awards will be at L.A.’s Microsoft Theater live on Sunday, June 28th at 8PM.
Eminem just executive produced the upcoming film “Southpaw” and is now getting right back to it. Em will be taking on the same role for a brand new television series called “Narc” and will also be writing music for the series. The show will be based on the movie of the same name and produced by the director of the 2002 movie, Joe Carnahan. The new series will take place in Detroit and be about a cop who goes undercover investigating a murder. The pilot episode for the series is already complete and is being taken around to networks to see if anyone wants to pick it up. Keep it here for updates on this series.
Slim the Mobster was at one time an up and coming protege of Dr. Dres until it was cut short by jail time. Slim spent the last two years behind bars and is now a free man and picking up right where he left off reuniting with Dr. Dre and tweeting out a photo from a studio session. Tidal is trying very hard to gain some popularity with exclusives you can only get with their service. Mary J. Blige is going to be doing a special Tidal exclusive show in front of the Statue Of Liberty. This event is said to be apart of the “Made In America Presents the Monument Series” which could mean that we could see a lot more artist in front of famous monuments. The stream is happening on June 21st at 9PM.
A rapper from 1990 by the name of MC Supreme was killed in a car crash this last weekend in Malibu. Dewayne Coleman aka MC Supreme was only 47-years old and was killed when a pick up truck crashed into his car that was parked on the shoulder of the Pacific Coast Highway. Coleman was pronounced dead on the scene while a woman in the passenger seat with unknown injuries was taken to the hospital. The driver of the pick up was arrested under the suspicion of a DUI. MC Supremes best known song is “Black In America”.
Back in November Xzibit got caught driving home drunk after his wedding. He got a DUI and spent a night in jail. Now today he has plead guilty to the charge. TMZ is reporting that Xzibit blew a .14 which is two times the legal limit and as punishment he will have three years probation and have to go through an alcohol education progam this year.
In an interview on ESPN’s “Highly Questionable” Yelawolf talked about his struggle with alcohol. Yelawolf says that Eminem wanted him to slow down on his drinking and he had talked a little about that. “No one controls my drinking, but me. I’m the only person that can control that. God himself could not control my drinking. I’m admittedly an alcoholic and it’s a problem. I wrote a song about it called “Empty Bottles” on Love Story. You know, I’m not proud of it but it’s in my genes. I do take breaks. I was sober for five months. That was my last sober streak. I’m back drinking again. It is what it is.” After that he talks about how he hates being sober “I can’t deal with sober. It just sucks. I’m not a role model. I don’t expect people to watch this or parents to watch this and go buy my album because I am a role model. I’m not that guy. I’m just doing me, and if I wanna drink I’m gonna drink. If I wanna party, I’m gonna party. That’s it. Drinking is my vice. When I’m done working, I’m gonna have a drink, that’s what I’m gonna do.” Check out the interview below.
Taking to twitter Meek Mill decided to send some words to YG. If you don’t know already YG was just shot three times in the hip and is recovering in a hospital. Meek decided to send out this tweet to the young rapper “@YG lets smarten up…..We know what come with it! Let’s get this money!” It remains unknown why YG was shot but Meek is saying that he needs to be more cautious and that is very good advice. Meek has done tribute songs for both Lil Snupe and Chinx who are two rappers who were murdered recently and it looks like he doesn’t want to have to do it for YG too.
