During an interview, Jarren Benton explained how he considers himself a different type of Atlanta: “I don’t really want to be classified in the new Atlanta because the media, or whoever I guess picked out those dudes, they didn’t come out and reach out to me. No disrespect to them dudes. They are all doing their thing, but I feel like there’s a side of Atlanta that is not being represented. Also, all those dudes have a similar sound. I saw the documentary of the new Atlanta and all those dudes are on the same kind of wave. Maybe not Raury. I think he probably was the only dude that I saw in that documentary that was kind of different, but everybody else has a similar sound, so that’s why when they say new Atlanta I equvilate that to a sound.”

On February 15^th Saturday Night Live will be celebrating its 40^th anniversary. With many of the shows all-time best cast members making appearances artist like Kanye West, Justin Timberlake, and Paul McCartney will all be appearing on the special episode. Other guests include Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, Robert Deniro, Derek Jeter, Peyton Manning, Tom Hanks, Jack Nicholson, Tina Fey, Adam Sandler, Jerry Seinfeld, Amy Poehler, Bill Murray, and more.

Snoop Dogg is always using instagram posting photos of things going on in his life and hilarious memes. But just recently he posted a picture of himself and Kendrick Lamar in the studio with a simple caption that read “Work!! K.Dot” which most likely means we can expect a collab from the two west coast artists in the near future. But will this end up on Kendricks upcoming project or Snoops that is the true question.

Though we all have known of Missy Elliott for years when she performed at the super bowl halftime show she gained a lot of new fans. Being the most watched television event in the entire nation a lot of young people watch the halftime show. Spotify is reporting a 676 percent increase in Missy Elliott’s music being streamed between an hour before the big game until 12 am that night.

Another mixtape from Lil Wayne is in the works or at least that is what DJ Drama is alluding to. Drama posted a photo of himself with Lil Wayne and Mack Maine on instagram captioning the photo with “Sorry for the Wait 2. Carter V. Dedication 6.” Currently Wayne is deep in a lawsuit with Cash Money but hopefully it will be finished up quickly so Wayne can get his projects out to his fans that desperately want them.

50 Cents previous girlfriend, Tatted Up Holly, is claiming that she was mistreated by the rapper: “Now he wants me to calm down. U are nothin but a manipulating women beater. You’re a fucking bully. Puts fear in everybody’s heart mistaking it for respect. I treated this man like royalty but all I got in return was ass whippings. Didn’t ask him for shit. He would buy me gifts to only take them back, what a man!!! He wanted me love unconditionally, I’m sorry I will not tolerate a grown ass man putting their hands on me. I was good before you I will good without you @50cent.”

T.I. made a comment about people not paying attention to all the critics, especially Iggy Azalea: “It’s just like asking Tom Brady if he should be commenting on deflate gate,” he said, referencing the latest Patriots scandal. “You know what I’m saying? He should worry about the big game on Sunday. Correct? Same with Iggy.”

Katy Perry is said to be doing a collaborated performance with Missy Elliot at Super Bowl Halftime: “I wanted to bring someone back,” Perry said. “A throwback of sorts that definitely needed some more shine. All I can say is it will be a real female fun night. It’s a bit old school. When this person enters the stage and you hear the first ring of the chord I think jaws will drop and faces will melt.”

While working on Kanye’s new album, Pusha T and Consequence decided it would be best for them to put their differences aside for business purposes: “Pusha and I deaded everything and we creatively vibed with Kanye for this new LP” said Consequence.

In a nightclub in Melbourne Australia a man says that YG and Ty Dolla $ign invaded his space while he was hanging out at the club. The club goer was in V.I.P and YG and Ty and their group tried kicking the people that were already there out. When the man refused he says he was kicked and punched in the head by both artists. Other witnesses say that the artist never touched the man but police arrived and no one was arrested but they are investigating.

Jay Z is about to make a play in the music streaming business. Competing with services like Google Play, Beats Music, Amazon Prime Music, and Spotify. Jay put a bid in for a Scandinavian company called Aspiro that owns a music streaming service called WiMP. The word is that Jays Company, Project Panther, put the actual bid in for $56 million in cash. The WiMP service is hugely popular in Europe so it will be interesting to see what Jay and his team can do with it and how it fairs against Americas biggest music streaming services.

Yesterday Bobby Shmurda pleaded not guilty to the charges that are against him. With reports saying that Shmurda could make his $2 million bail as soon as this week. Bobby has a bondsman named Ira Judelson who says he will be putting up the money for his bail so he can get back in the studio. We will keep you up to date with any more news that comes from this situation.

Mariah Carey received a record low in her album sales in 2014 so things have not been the best for the once chart topping singer. Back in 2003 Carey was in a bad spot also but signed a deal with Def Jam and L.A. Reid that lead to the release of her album The Emancipation of Mimi which was extremely successful. Hopefully now that Mariah has signed a deal with EPIC and is working with L.A. Reid once again this will lead to once again her having another hit album.

Suge Knight had allegedly run over two men, leaving one killed and the other seriously injured. The hit and run took place today (January 29, 2015) in Compton California. Suge’s attorney, James Edward Blatt was told that Knight was attacked by the two men who were hit while he was sitting in his car. The incident is currently being investigated as a homicide rather than an incident.

While on the Ellen Degeneres Show, Kanye shared with everyone his inspirations and how he has changed as a person: “I think I’m a better human being because of her [Kim Kardashian] and because of my daughter. Last year, two years ago, you guys were seeing someone being suffocated by a perception.”
