Lupe Fiasco Shares New Song ‘LLC’: Listen

Lupe Fiasco has been in news cycles lately because of Kendrick Lamar.

Lupe denies apologizing to Kendrick Lamar in a series of 2018 tweets where he explained why he believed the Compton native was “not a top tier lyricist.”

Lupe said in a response to an article which presented all the rappers who have apologized to Kendrick in the past that he was “sorry about the entire shindig because it was such a waste of time and energy in something that actually had nothing to do with me. Keep my name clean…I fear no rapper of any kind or on anytime. K dot solid but y’all need to chill lol.”

Going past all of that, he has dropped a new song today called ‘LLC’ which features some elite rapping as expected. Listen below.

Rihanna Says She Wants to Have More Kids with ASAP Rocky; Talks Plastic Surgery & New Music

Rihanna is the latest artist to be interviewed for Interview magazine, which has been conducted by none other than Mel Ottenberg.

Mel is Rihanna’s longtime stylist and is the editor-in-chief of Interview magazine so it made perfect sense for this sit down. In the chat, the superstar singer discusses her life, wanting to get breast lift done, how she started dating ASAP Rocky, wanting to have more kids with him, plans for new music, what she likes best about NY and LA, and more.

“We’ve known each other for a long time. I’ve seen him in relationships. He’s seen me in relationships. We’ve seen each other outside of relationships. We knew what we’re capable of, and the trouble that we could bring to each other’s lives,” Rihanna said about how it started with Rocky. “We can make or break each other’s hearts. And so, we started dating with a lot of caution.”

“COVID sped up our relationship, which I felt like god knew we needed because we were going to start a family. And had it not been for COVID, we would’ve taken a lot more time to get comfortable with each other, to even know that we were ready,” she continued.

“I let god lead and just let go. Because in previous relationships, I tried and tried and tried my best, and you still feel like it’s not enough. So when someone sees you completely, and believes in you, and thinks you’re worthy of being the mother of their kids, it’s a great feeling. I felt the same about him. I knew he would be a great dad.”

When asked if she’d like to have more kids, she replied, “I don’t know what god wants, but I would go for more than two. I would try for my girl. But of course if it’s another boy, it’s another boy.”

RiRi said she may go for a breast lift but nothing else under the knife. “No. I’m also scared of the knife. So if I had to pick one thing, I’m going to pick my boobs.”

Regarding new music, Rihanna said she has visual ideas but not enough songs. “I have a lot of visual ideas. It’s weird. My brain is working backward right now. I usually have the music first, and the music leads me into all of these visual opportunities, and now I’m having all of these visuals, and I don’t have the songs for them yet, but maybe that’s the key, this time. Maybe the visual ideas are leading me to the songs that I need to make.”

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky are the proud parents of two boys: RZA and Riot Rose.

‘Like That’ Now Kendrick Lamar’s Longest Running #1 Hit of All Time on Billboard Hot 100

In what seems to be light work for Kendrick Lamar, his latest song ‘Like That’ has overtaken and surpassed previous hits from his discography on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.

The scathing track, crafted in collaboration with Future and Metro Boomin, is now the longest running number 1 hit for Kendrick, comfortably peaking on top for two weeks and counting. Kendrick’s previous personal record was solidified with tracks like ‘HUMBLE’ and ‘Bad Blood’, both of which spent a week each at the coveted summit.

With this monumental feat, Kendrick now has a total of 3 songs that have made it to the #1 position on the charts. Notably, 72 of the tracks in his discography have made it to the Hot 100, out of which 13 songs have made the top 10 cut. In contrast, his contemporary J. Cole (one of two artists the track was intended towards) has had a total of 74 songs in the Hot 100 – with 12 songs making it to the top 10, and only 1 at the top. It would also be remiss not to include rapper and singer Drake in this conversation, who has had an impressive 77 songs in the Top 10 alone, with a whopping total of 329 songs making it to the Hot 100 and 13 making it to the number one position.

What remains yet to be seen is how the chart positions fluctuate with fans of the ‘Big 3’ anticipating follow up releases from the three in the midst of ongoing controversy between these top tier artists. With J. Cole issuing a formal apology to Kendrick for his response to the hit ‘Like That’, a Cole release in the ongoing lore is unlikely, whereas Drake’s response is awaited with baited breath in light of his insinuations on social media and otherwise.

J. Cole is having a change of heart.

The rapper headlined the Dreamville fest in Raleigh, NC tonight (Sunday) where he performed all of the biggest songs in his career. But right at the end, he did something unexpected. Cole paused the show and said that he doesn’t feel right about taking shots at Kendrick Lamar on the song ‘7 Minute Drill‘.

He added that the track, which serves as the outro to his latest album Might Delete Later, doesn’t sit right with his spirit when he listens to the song back and calls Kendrick one of the greatest artists to touch the mic.

Taking a step further, the star emcee says he plans to take the particular track down from streaming services. Watch the clip below.

Pharrell Williams Drops Surprise Album ‘VIRGINIA: Black Yacht Rock Vol. 1’: Listen

In what has been a rather exciting day for fans of hip hop (courtesy of J. Cole’s surprise drop), Pharrell Williams has quietly released his surprise album VIRGINIA: Black Yacht Rock Vol. 1. Boasting lush guitar arrangements and intricate stacks of vocal harmonies, the 10-track mystery album is available for free download here.

While Pharrell himself has not announced or commented on the release of this project, the album is subtitled The City of Limitless Access and seems to be Pharrell’s spin on the yacht rock genre from the early 70s which was a hallmark of luxury, affluence and sophistication. This is perfectly in line with Pharrell’s status as a high fashion icon and founder of Billionaire Boys Club, and of course, his current role as the creative director of Louis Vuitton.

What is also interesting is the nature of this drop, which so far is not available for streaming on regular platforms. This move comes at an interesting juncture in time, with conversations around streaming pay-outs and alternative models in the music marketplace gaining momentum. From James Blake’s exclusive subscriber based releases to La Russel’s partnership with Even.biz to sell music directly to fans, the industry is visibly reiterating artist-consumer relationships. In this light, Pharrell’s latest drop, too, is likely focused on furthering direct access to fans with a free treat and a subscription form underneath.

J. Cole Responds to Kendrick Lamar with Shots on New Song ‘7 Minute Drill’

J. Cole has responded to Kendrick Lamar with some jabs on the song ‘7 Minute Drill’ which appears as the outro on his surprise new album Might Delete Later.

As we know, Kendrick came out of nowhere and threw shots at Drake on ‘Like That‘ from Metro Boomin & Future’s album. Cole also caught some strays as Kendrick said there’s no big 3, he’s the biggest one out of them all.

Now Cole has responded to Kendrick by calling his second album To Pimp A Butterfly boring and his last album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers “tragic.”

“He still doin’ shows, but fell off like the Simpsons
Yo first shit was classic, yo last shit was tragic
Yo second shit put ni**as to sleep but they gassed it
Yo third shit was massive and that was yo prime
I was trailin’ right behind and I just now hit mine
Now I’m front of the line with a comfortable lead
How ironic, now that I got it he want somethin’ with me”

Before the above lines, he also raps, “he averaging 1 hard verse like every 30 months or something/If he wasn’t dissing, we wouldn’t be discussing him.”

Listen to it below.

Lil Wayne Releases New Song ‘Bless’ Feat. Young Thug — Listen

Lil Wayne and Young Thug have had a complicated history, to say the least. Despite Thug showing love to Wayne early on and them doing music together earlier on in Thug’s Cash Money days, things got turbulent around Wayne’s fallout with Stunna, with Wayne going at him and Thug refusing to go back and forth with his “idol”.

When Jimmy Carlton Winfrey, Thug’s tour manager, got arrested for shooting at Lil Wayne’s bus, it seemed the relationship would be done forever, but that hasn’t been the case.

Tonight, the two pair up once again for a new song called ‘Bless’, which is produced by Wheezy and is what was being teased in the Weezy Vs. Wheezy campaign on social media, in line with WrestleMania XL this weekend.

Check out the single below.
