During Q-Tips own Beats 1 radio show he made sure to pay tribute to Phife Dawg with a huge Tribe Called Quest mix the spanned 3 hours. A bunch of artist actually recorded their own tributes to Phife including Andre 3000, Chuck D, and Kendrick Lamar. “The man lives and breathes Hip Hop, the man’s a social narrator along with the world-legendary all-time A Tribe Called Quest. What a team along with Q-Tip, along with Ali Shaheed Muhammad, along with Jarobi. Team player in the game and really from Queens, these kings.” Chuck D said when speaking about the late Phife Dawg. This kind of story is getting old and will hopefully stop happening soon as more states make it legal but Twista was arrested while in Indiana for possession of marijuana. Twista was pulled over in a phantom and police smelled the weed and searched him finding half an ounce that was hidden away in a can. No one in the car claimed the weed was theirs and Twista ended up staying most of the night in jail before getting bailed out at 4am for $500.

 

Chef turned rapper, Action Bronson has already hit the world of cable television with his show “Fuck, That’s Delicious”. Now Bronson is taking things to the next level by going all in and making an actual cookbook called “Fuck, That’s Delicious: An Annotated Guide to Eating Well” This book will be about more then just cooking and will actually share Actions own personal life stories in the book along with his recipes. This is a awesome step for Action Bronson and one that makes a ton of sense.

A Tribe Called Quest has finally issued an official statement on the death of Phife Dawg. Phife Dawg passed away due to complications from diabetes. Here is their statement “Our hearts are heavy. We are devastated. This is something we weren’t prepared for although we all know that life is fleeting. It was no secret about his health and his fight. But the fight for his joy and happiness gave him everything he needed. The fight to keep his family happy, his soul happy and those around him happy, gave him complete and unadulterated joy… until he heeded his fathers call.

We love his family his mother, his father, his son, his wife, his nieces, his family here in New York, Atlanta, California and Trinidad.

Thank you for the outpouring of prayers and support from the fans, fellow artists, music outlets, blogs, radio stations, DJ’s, social media and the music community at large. This too is part of his joy and means a lot to him. His family is overwhelmed by the support, well wishes and are thankful. His music and what he’s contributed is seismic and hard to measure. He’s affected us as much as he’s affected all of you. We’re inspired by his daily joy and courage. He wasn’t in pain. He was happy.

We take comfort in knowing he will be beside his grandmother.”

The popular Metro Boomin tag “if young Metro don’t trust you I’m gon’ shoot you” has been gaining even more popularity especially since it was used in Kanye West’s song “Father Stretch My Hands Pt 1”. Now Metro Boomin has decided to capitalize on this fact and now he is selling T-shirts with sweet designs that ask the question “Does Young Metro Trust You?” and judging by the popularity these shirts are going to sell like hotcakes so this is a very smart move. The latest artist to be signed to Roc Nation is 20 year old Justine Skye. Skye is from Brooklyn New York and was with Atlantic but apparently they didn’t get her where she wanted to be. Now this young woman has already put out two projects so and worked with some big names like Joey Bada$$ and Tyga already so she should do well with Roc Nation. She made the announcement via her own Twitter and we should prepare to see a lot more of the young artist.

No Malice, brother of Pusha T has been out of the rap game for quite some time after he released his solo album “Hear Ye Him” back in 2013. Now in a brand new interview with XXL Malice says that he has plans to release another solo album. “I plan on releasing [an album] this summer, Let the Dead Bury the Dead is the title. Yeah, it’s going to be hard. I’m working with a few cats right now, but I got some tricks in my pocket. I’m going to wait before I disclose that.” Fans of his will most definitely pick up a new album so keep it locked right here for updates on it.

Wu Tang affiliate Andre Roxx is now taking action after his name and photo was dragged through the mud on numerous news outlets(case number 1:16-cv-00185-UNA). As was previously reported Andre Roxx, legal name “Marques A. Johnson”, had his name and image used in stories about another Wu Tang affiliate by the name of Christ Bearer, legal name “Andre Johnson” after he had castrated himself and attempted to commit suicide. Huge news outlets from TMZ to Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. had used Andre Roxx name and image in that story and as previously stated Roxx had no way to clear his name because he was behind bars at the time. Most every news outlet has not fixed their stories and or have not printed a retraction. This directly effects Andre Roxx to this day and this happened way back in April of 2014 leading to his career suffering.

Katt Williams has been having a struggle in the media and it only gets worse today. Video has surfaced online showing Katt standing around a bunch of teens and then you see one boy get it up Katt’s grill and then Katt sucker punches the kid. This leads to the kid getting Katt on the ground and in choke hold until some people around finally get the kid to release him. This is definitely a all new low for Katt Williams and hopefully he gets some help because this is getting ridiculous.

 

Joey Bada$$ joins the ever growing list of rappers planning on dropping more then one album this year. While on “Heavy Hitters” which is a Shade 45 show put on by DJ Enuff the 21 year old rapper said that he has a bunch of unreleased music saying he has 80 tracks so he could easily do what Kendrick did and just drop an album of extras. If those extras are very high quality the fans will buy the albums. Joey said in the interview as well that if it does happen we would have and album drop in the Summer as well as one in December so fans need to watch out for those. Some sad news today for hip-hop because Phife Dawg of A Tribe Called Quest has passed away at just 45 years old. Though the cause of his death is still unknown at this time Phife Dawg is best known for being a sort of underdog in the Tribe but don’t get it twisted he was one of the founders and was childhood friends with Q-Tip. It should be noted that Phife did suffer from diabetes since 1990 and it could of played a role. Rest in Peace to Phife Dawg. Kanye West went on one of his usual rants on Twitter today and this time it was about people not believe in him and having over come that. This lead to him talking about his pop-up shop. In NYC just last week Ye had a pop-up show which had huge crowds show up to it. Though it was only open for two days the store sold over $1 million in clothing sales which is really impressive for something that was just out of the blue. Now this could just be the start and we could see this happen again very soon in other big cities across the country but we’ll just have to wait and see.

As we all know Iggy Azalea was not having a great year last year in the media and she even admitted to having suicidal thoughts and a breakdown. Now Azealia Banks has commented via Instagram on the story pretty much encouraging it. What Iggy said in the interview with J Cruz was this “I don’t know, there were times when I wanted to just quit life. Sometimes I would drive through the canyons to get my horses and I would be like what if I just kept driving.” Banks responded with “YAAS slavemaster, drive that truck right off the canyon!!!” Azealia Banks sure knows how to say some pretty harsh things and it really doesn’t seem like she plans on stopping anytime soon.

A third lawsuit is aimed at Tyga but this time it is not for his home but for the space that he had rented out for his clothing company. The Egypt Last Kings clothing company according to TMZ has been in a rented out spot to sell clothing though it was left by the company in June of last year. The landlord is said to have found ink stained floors and doors plus they claim that they poured ink down the drains. Now this landlord wants a whopping $75,000 from Tyga so the spot can be repaired though Tyga says that the damages were done by the landlord. After Post Malone’s huge hit “White Iverson” last year fans have been anxious to get some new music from him. Now Malone has announced that his album will be hitting in in March but now that we are almost completely through the month it is looking less likely. Post Malone has recently taken to his Instagram to post a photo along with the caption “don’t ask me about music, because it’s coming this week” So this seems like confirmation that either the fans will be getting a new single or maybe even a full album.
