In 2014 Lil Wayne owed a whopping $12 million in back-taxes but now the IRS is after him again for another $900,000. Wayne had the tax lien delivered to him in Florida on the 1st of February and it is still unknown if Wayne even paid the previous $12 million but knowing his track record it is unlikely. Wayne is worth quite a bit though so he should have this all paid by now and hopefully he gets it taken care of quickly before they come after him even harder.
While talking to the Grammys along with his crew, Kendrick Lamar talked about the creation of their latest album “To Pimp A Butterfly”. When asked about the inspiration Kendrick said “I felt like I belonged in Africa. I saw all the things that I wasn’t taught. Probably one of the hardest things to do is put [together] a concept on how beautiful a place can be, and tell a person this while they’re still in the ghettos of Compton. I wanted to put that experience in the music.” And when asked about the title he added “The title grasped the entire concept of the record. [I wanted to] break down the idea of being pimped in the industry, in the community and out of all the knowledge that you thought you had known, then discovering new life and wanting to share it.” Then when asked about his thoughts on the label of conscious rapper he said “If you speak on this kind of subject matter you’re labeled a conscious rapper. I don’t even know [if] that word conscious can only exist in one field of music. Everybody is conscious. That’s a gift from God to put it in my heart to continue to talk about this because that’s how I’m feeling at the moment. TDE is known world why but mainly only for Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q. But Ab-Soul took to his twitter to express his feelings on the situation. He tweeted out to his fans thanking them for all of their support and add “I’ll be ready when my #’s called.” And then he brought it all home making sure everyone knew what he was saying by saying “this bench is gettin’ warm as fucc tho mayne”. This caught the eye of the head of TDE, Anthony Tiffith and he tweeted back at Ab saying that if he puts him out he better come with the heat basically and pretty much told him that he would give him a call and get things set in motion.
Most everyone in hip-hop had their money on the Carolina Panthers on Sunday for the Super Bowl 50 but as we all know they did not win and people had to start paying up if they bet. The Migos happened to be some of the people going for the Panthers because why wouldn’t they go for Cam when he does the Dab dance which they are basically pioneers of. New single from Drake “Summer Sixteen” lands at number 6 on Billboard’s Hot 100. This marks Drake’s biggest sales week for himself as a solo artist. The single alone has got 215,000 downloads just this week which is really impressive. Drake is still looking to achieve the number 1 spot as a solo artist which he got close with his major hit single “Hotline Bling” landing at #2 a few months back.
Everyone seems to have a Beats 1 radio show from Dj Khaled to Pharrell and Drake. Now young rap artist Chance The Rapper has got a brand new deal with Apple giving him his very own Beats 1 radio show. The show is going to be called WorldWideChicago and though no one knows the subject matter that will be talked about on the show we can speculate there is going to be some good talks all the up and coming artist out of the Chi. 50 Cent is never going to let this one die out it and now has actually brought out a “R.I.P. MEEK MILL shirt during his show in Oakland. As we all know 50 Cent is not cool with MMG as a whole but the amount of focus he is giving to Meek is crazy. 50 doesn’t have any bars for him though he just continues to post memes and do these stunts at his shows so it’s only a matter of time before it gets old.
Beyonce just released a brand new song and music video called Formation and now she is about to go on a world tour. Just after she hit the Super Bowl 50 halftime show with a great performance she announced that she is going on a Formation World Tour and she is doing it huge only going to sporting arenas. Radio host at Hot 97 Ebro took to his twitter just after seeing that Beyonce’s new song Formation was produced by Mike Will Made-It and co-written by Rae Sremmurd’s Swae Lee. Now in the past Ebro took issue with Rae Sremmurd saying that they had ghostwriters so of course now hearing that one of them co-wrote Beyonce’s new track he spoke up again by saying “Co-writing…Nice.” throwing a whole lot of shade enough so that Mike Will actually tweeted out “You making ur self look lame as hell @oldmanebro lol, just stop, get ur check up, and focus on a 5 year plan, and run your lil show.” Eventually just summing up that he thinks Ebro is a hater and it really looks to be that way.
N.W.A. is finally going to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame after many attempts at the goal they finally achieved it. Yesterday it was announced who the special guests would be to induct everyone which is said to include Kendrick Lamar himself to do the honors and who better then a Compton native who has been at the top of the game.
Some great news for Meek Mill after his day in court for him violating his probation and turning in water instead of urine during a drug test. Meek will only have three months of house arrest where he will wear a ankle monitor and may only leave his house for social work. He is not allowed to record any music either and his probation was extended another six years. Another six years on probation isn’t the best but it is definitely better than jail.
ASAP Rocky has been branching out lately doing a little acting in the movie DOPE and he was said to have his voice in a animated show on HBO called Animals. Now Rocky is branching out even further doing voice work for a new Marvel video game called Marvel Avengers Academy. The game will be on the ios appstore and Google Play and is available right this very moment. ASAP Rocky voices the character named Falcon and some other notables are Dave Franco as Iron Man and John Cena voicing the Hulk. This is a pretty cool avenue for Rocky to try out as video games become ever more popular to the mainstream.
As you should know earlier in the week Snoop Dogg got some important equipment stolen including laptops and luggage in San Franciso out of a van. After that though TMZ reported that Snoop denied that any of his gear had been stolen saying the story was false. “They didn’t get me, they got somebody else,” Snoop said in a video online. But this doesn’t make sense because the cops have it down that Snoop Dog’s Suburban was broken into and everything for his show was in it. There are only two options here one is that Snoop just hasn’t heard the bad news yet or two this is a huge mistake and it really was someone else’s equipment.
In a brand new documentary a former member of the LAPD named Greg Kading says that Diddy was the one who hired the guys who killed 2 Pac. Kading was told that Diddy had a whole room full of Crip gang members and was willing to pay them anything to have both 2 Pac and Suge Knight killed. The documentary believes that Diddy had 2 Pac killed and Suge retaliated hiring some Blood gang members to have Biggie killed. This documentary will be on Netflix very soon so everyone will get to form their own opinions but it would be nice to finally know what actually went down.
Things are about to get pretty old school because Remy Ma and Fat Joe are working on a joint project together. Fat Joe talked about this with Hip Hop Wired saying “Me and Remy just wrapped up a new album. Just me and Remy. I’m super excited about that. The album is ridiculous. So we’ve been working musically like crazy.” Joe even gave a titled for the initial single which will be “All The Way Up” and will have French Montana on it as well. This is pretty exciting news for some artist whose careers have really been at a stand still for quite some time. This is a great way to push them right back into the spotlight and whose know maybe bring some much needed life to the New York rap scene.
