Pharrell and Robin Thicke were found guilty of copyright infringement last week for their song “Blurred Lines”. With the two ordered to pay $7.3 million to the Marvin Gaye estate. For the first time today Pharrell opened up sharing his thoughts on the ruling. “The verdict hampers any creator out there who who is making something that might be inspired by something else, this applies to fashion, music, design… anything. If we lose our freedom to be inspired, we’re going to look up one day and the entertainment industry as we know it will be frozen in litigation.” Pharrell said when speaking to The Financial Times. Marvin Gayes children also want to include T.I., who was featured on the track, along with Universal, Interscope, and Star Trak in the suit so they will be getting even more money.
