Snoop Dogg recently posted an image on Twitter featuring a man named Cortez Booze, the picture was captioned “Whos auntcle is this?” Snoops comment sparked a ton of hate and accusations. “Cortez Booze tells TMZ … 5 days ago the rapper posted a pic of him on Instagram with the caption, ‘Whose auntcle is this?’ The pic triggered a torrent of hate … people calling him f*****, shemale, confused, ugly, punk and a host of other slurs.“ (TMZ).
During an interview with Billboard Magazine Kendrick Lamar was asked about the Ferguson situation. “I wish somebody would look in our neighborhood knowing that it’s already a situation, mentally, where it’s fucked up. What happened to [Michael Brown] should’ve never happened. Never. But when we don’t have respect for ourselves, how do we expect them to respect us? It starts from within. Azealia Banks took to twitter to come back at his comments saying ““When we don’t respect ourselves how can we expect them to respect us” dumbest shit I’ve ever heard a black man say.” HOW DARE YOU open ur face to a white publication and tell them that we don’t respect ourselves…. Speak for your fucking self.” Seems as though Azealia is not happy with Kendricks views but hopefully she doesn’t get too out of control and this is the end of it.

The rapper from Baton Rouge, Louisiana Kevin Gates made an unexpected reveal on his instagram this week in a pair of videos. In the videos Kevin Gates states that he is currently having sexual relations with a woman who he found out afterwards was his cousin. Gates found out from his grandmother and the rapper also admitted that at one point the pair were said to look like brother and sister. Though Gates found out this disturbing new he says he has no plans of ending the relationship. Kevin Gates said this on instagram “I’m fuckin’ the shit out of her, come to find out she my cousin, Ya heard me? But I ain’t bout to stop fuckin’ with her. Shit, the pussy good and we click. “Blackout 5” is a battle rap event in Toronto and this year for their event Drake and his OVO team have joined up with King Of The Dot for the event. The event’s names of its competitors have already been announced but the match-ups will be all a surprise to the viewer’s making it really unique this time around. The event will be going down on February 7th and 8th, 2015 tickets are available and pay-per-view can be ordered.

Recently, a selfie of President Obama’s daughter Malia, was posted on the Instagram page of rap group, Pro Era. The White House is under investigation because they have no idea how the president’s daughters’ selfie would be obtainable. In the image, Malia was wearing a shirt from the rap group’s brand. Joey Bada$$’s representative said that they had received the image from a mutual friend.
Dr. Dre recently became hip-hops first billionaire just last spring after Beats by Dre was successfully bought by Apple for a large sum of money. Monster helped design Beats by Dre in the beginning stages of the company. Now after seeing the major success of the headphones it appears as though Monster and their CEO Noel Lee are hitting Beats by Dre with a new lawsuit claiming that Noel and company are basically the ones who invented the Beats by Dre headphones. Saying “pirating the headphones away from Lee and Monster.” Noel had a 5% stake in Beats By Dre and Monster is saying Beats conspired to get rid of them cutting all ties then selling to apple. We will see what happens as the lawsuit moves forward so keep it locked.
An album called “Redemption Of The Beast” has just been announced by DMX and is to be released next week. There were hints that DMX was working on a project when Swizz Beatz and him said they were working on some new stuff. The album has not officially been announced but thanks to Amazon pre-orders people have found out about the 16-track album with features from Freeway, Jannyce, and Rampage. Coachella 2015’s lineup has just been released showing a wide variety of different musical acts. For the hip-hop side of things we have Drake, Lil B, Azealia Banks, Ghostface Killah, Flying Lotus, Raekwon, Vic Mensa, Ab-Soul, The Weeknd, FKA Twigs, Run The Jewels, Kaytranada, Jamie xx and tons more. With Drake headlining the third day it is definitely going to be a show worth seeing.
Rumors have been going around that Bobby Shmurda had been released from prison with an instagram video to back it up posted just yesterday. The post showed Bobby Shurma saying “I’m Back!” with the caption “#MyBro Is Back #DontTellNobody”. Many fans assumed that the rapper had made bail but at the end of the day it was just the poster Relle pulling a publicity stunt. When Riker’s Island was contacted about Bobby Shmurda they said he is still in custody. Bobby’s bail is currently set at 2 million and he faces up to 25 years if convicted of all charges.
Brooklyn rapper Joey Bada$$ was arrested during a show of his in Australia this weekend after he reportedly struck one of the security guards in the face, breaking their nose. The security guard says he thought that Joey wasn’t authorized to be on the stage and stopped him before his performance to check his credentials then Bada$$ punched him in the face and went to perform his show. Following the performance Joey was arrested and spent the night in custody. The guard was taken to the hospital for further assistance. This morning Joey’s rep issued a statement saying “There was a misunderstanding with security at the Byron Falls Festival show, which resulted in charges being laid by NSW Police. After fully cooperating with Police, Joey was granted bail and entered a plea of not guilty to the charge.”
Jay Z talked on Oprah’s “Master Class” project arguing that hip-hop has improved race relations in ways no other art form or figure has. “I think that hip hop has done more for racial relations than most cultural icons, save Martin Luther King, because his dream speech we realize[d] when President Obama got elected. But, the impact of the music, you know, this music didn’t only influence kids from urban areas. It influenced people all around the world.” Jay Z said in the piece.
