For Martin Luther King Day, A$ap Ferg visited a Washington D.C. middle school, assisting with murals and enhancing their music room: "This is a tough time in my life, I want to be around family, be around friends and people that genuinely care about my well-being and just my fans that love my music and love what I do," Ferg explained. "That's why I came here. I came to give back to the kids. I came to talk to the kids, tell them that they can do whatever they want to do in life. I've made it... I'm just here to let kids know that you can dream big, you can put out any type of music that you want to put out."
Rapper Doughbeezy from Houston was the victim of a home invasion on Tuesday. The invasion left one suspect dead and another arrested and Doughbeezy was found to be pistol whipped. The invasion happened around 9:20 PM outside of the rappers friend’s house where two male suspects came up and pistol whipped Doughbeezy forcing the family into the home. Beezy managed to get to his car and grab a gun coming back and shooting one of the suspects sending the other off running only to be caught later by police.
There is no denying the fact that Iggy Azalea had a very successful 2014 despite all the hate she has received from hip-hop fans all over. In a recent interview with GQ magazine when asked about the harsh things that are said to her and how she copes Iggy said she really doesn’t care about what people in the industry and other artist think as long as the fans are supporting her and voting for her. “I was a fan of rap music growing up, and I didn't feel like there were enough characters that represented me and my situation. So I think it's needed.” She said.
While speaking to ESPN magazine Wale let loose some information of his plans for the future of the Wizards which is said to include some new jerseys. "I want to be a shot in the arm to DC basketball, My job is to provide a spark, at all costs. I'm not going to do anything corny, but I'm talking to Kanye about designing new uniforms. I want to see the phone booth rocking every time I come here. I want to create the 'Lake Show,' create what the Bulls had. I want to take the personality of our stars—John [Wall], Otto [Porter], Marcin [Gortat]—and create what Kemp and Payton had, what LeBron and D-Wade had. That's the vibe I want."
Though the Grammys can’t always be trusted when it comes to Hip-Hop nominations they have picked some prime figures to perform this year at the awards. The likes of Usher, Pharrell, Common, and John Legend are set to perform on the Grammy stage. Pharrell is looking at six nominations this year so be sure to tune in February 8th to see who gets one of music’s most prestigious award.
Chance The Rapper visited Chicago today, to give back to his community. He was very appreciative of the celebrities who gave back with him, who were not even from Chicago. Chance thanked everyone on Instagram: "It means a lot when celebs come to the city and give back to a community they aren't from," Chance wrote via Instagram. "Made a good friend today."

Among others, Big Sean discussed his disappointment in the rap that has been out recently: “I feel like there are flaws on the first album [and] flaws on the second album,” Big Sean said. “I don’t know if I’ll ever drop an album that doesn’t have any flaws…I probably will drop a perfect album one day. Now that Lil Wayne has had his public disagreements with Cash Money, Charlamagne thinks differently of the record label: “That’s gotta hurt. August Alsina while performing in St. Louis at anti-violence concert called “State of Emergency 2” with all proceeds going to the “Put down the Pistol” program. A fight had broken out between the shows promoter Loose Cannon Slim and August Alsina because Slim was upset that August showed up late. Fabolous was also backstage but he made sure to stay clear of the fighting.
Jay Z is said to be a part of a group that is in talks to purchase Hot 97 radio station. Jay and a group of investors that include Carmelo Anthony is said to be targeting Hot 97 for purchase and have hired lawyers and investment bankers and are serious about getting the deal done. Hot 97 is home to big radio personalities such as Ebro, Perter Rosenberg, Miss Info, and Funkmaster Flex. This is interesting because Flex has just been going on rants the last week aimed at Jay Z and has even said that Jay Z can’t control the higher ups at his station. But we’ll see if any of this really comes to fruition and if it actually does it will be interesting to see how Funkmaster Flex reacts after hearing his recent rants.
TLC hasn't dropped an album since 3D in 2002 which came out seven months after the tragic passing of group member Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes. Now the two T-Boz and Chilli are gearing up for a final album and are planning on having the project funded on Kickstarter with a goal of $150,000 posted today. In an interview T-Boz said, "We've always been known to do things differently. We've always been trailblazers and trendsetters. We've always been outspoken, and this seems like the perfect opportunity.”, when asked about the reasoning for using Kickstarter. Chilli added that yes they are celebrities but they want to bring their fans into the process to see how it is done.
It has been a few months since Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa finalized their divorce. But Amber has just let go of some shocking information about what her family thought about Wiz. Amber was interviewed by OWN recently on the special called “light Girls” which is a follow up to “Black Girls” and in it Rose talked about how her family didn’t attend her and Khalifa’s wedding in 2013 because of his skin color. “With my family, they feel like they’re more superior, or better than an African American, because we’re Creole and we have culture." She said. "I'm angry that my family is like that and they wanna 'pass' so bad that they raised my mom and my uncles and my aunts to not fully know their culture, I feel like that's why my father is white." Light Girls will aired tonight at 9 PM on OWN.
