Jay Z was seen sporting a Five Percent Nation Medallion while attending a Brooklyn Nets game.  It appears that the rapper association with the Nation of God and Earth is drawing criticism.  Some people think the rapper is supporting racism by wearing the medallion.  Clarence 13x founded The Five Percent Nation in 1963 after separating from the Nation of Islam.  The Five Percenters believes the Black man was the original man the creator of civilization and the personification of god.  Their name derives from the ideal that 10% of the population (elites) manipulated and control 85% of the population that is unaware of the true nature of human control.  The remaining 5% work to enlighten that the 85% of the truth.  There are some Five Percenters who question Jay wearing the medallion.  This is not the first time he was seen wearing the medallion.  He wore a piece last year during an interview with The Breakfast Club.  It is said that Jay is not an active member of Five Percent, no one has vouch for him.  It is known that you do not wear the medallion if you do not totally subscribe to the life.

It was impossible. I had to do something that mattered, or I would not have gotten that respect from [the rapper at the time]. If I didn’t get that respect from them it was over. But now it’s a lot easier. "I would like to see people remember it’s an art form because the better we all become we push each other to make the whole art form better. Then we won’t have to worry about who won the Grammy".
