Though the online streetwear distribution company Karmaloop has had a lot of success in recent years they are rumored to be going bankrupt and it could happen this week. The NY Post reported on this first stating that the company tried it’s hardest to prevent filing Chapter 11. The Chief Executive of Karmaloop, Greg Selkoe, met with investors trying to work out the debts but if nothing works out Karmaloops could be facing “$100 million in writedowns on debt and equity”. In a recent interview Dame Dash spoke about him and Kanye wanting to purchase Karmaloop saying that they will be acquired very soon. This is not official as of yet but Karmaloops made sure to tweet out the Dame Dash interview with the caption “Kanyeloop” and we will keep you up to date on any new information as it becomes known.

As previously reported the United Kingdom’s Glastonbury festival has been the subject of a lot of internet controversy for giving Kanye West a headlining act. People even got a petition up to nearly 100,000 signatures trying to stop Kanye from performing. But yesterday the festivals organizer Emily Eavis had a letter published to The Guardian that was in response to the petition. Emily right from the jump dismisses the Kanye haters saying “We think the story this year should not be: ‘Why is Kanye coming?’ but: ‘How amazing is it that Kanye is coming?’” adding that he is a “music legend, always interesting, never boring.” Eavis ends it with this “Those [headlining] acts have never have been limited to rock and never will be.” It is a great thing that this letter was published and shows that Glastonbury will not back away from their commitments because of the vocal minority on the internet.

After 6 years Chris Brown is finally off of probation for the 2009 case he had for assaulting Rihanna. TMZ is reporting that Judge James R. Brandlin has signed off on Brown’s release from probation yesterday after he completed all of the terms. The terms were anger management and domestic violence counseling, rehab, and 1000 hours of community service. Brown took to twitter and posted “IM OFF PROBATION!!!!!! Thank the Lord!!!!!!!” Good for Chris Brown he has been struggling with probation for a very long time.

Drake is a well know fan of basketball and a huge supporter and collaborator of his home team the Toronto Raptors. Drake tweeted out last night a link to a countdown of the release of his very own redesign of the Raptors’ logo in collaboration with Mitchell & Ness. This tweet from Drake actually sent so many people to the countdown site that it crashed which is pretty impressive. As of now we are about 5 days out from the release of the brand new logo.

 

Remember a few weeks back Rick Ross and Bill Murray got together in the studio after they had met at a college basketball game. Well Jimmy Kimmel had Bill Murray on his show last night on his SXSW special and Jimmy asked what Bill was doing with Ross. Bill Explained that he wanted Rick Ross to sing a song for his upcoming “Christmas show” and they had begun recording but apparently never finished because Murray’s people have been trying to get in touch with Ross since with no luck.

At a SXSW keynote this year Snoop Dogg was a speaker and was interviewed by his manager Ted Chung. During the back and forth conversation Snoop had revealed that he is working on a series for HBO. The show will be a collaboration between Snoop, Allen Hughes, and Rodney Barnes. Allen Hughes was the director of “Menace II Society” and Rodney Barnes was a writer on the animated show “The Boondocks”. The show is said to take place in a 1980s Los Angeles and will be centered on a family facing the backlash of Reaganomics. Much of the show will be inspired by Snoops own childhood which Snoop describes as an incremental change from “having fun and playing football to selling drugs and shooting at each other” When talking about the opportunity he has Snoop said This is like a dream come true, to tell a story in the right way on the right network.” HBO has been on fire lately with their television shows so hopefully Snoop Doggs show adds to the greatness.

 

Suge Knight is fighting charges of murder and second degree murder after the fatal hit-and-run that happened earlier this year. As of today Suge got hit with a $25 million bail which is not possible for Suge to have paid and once he heard this was his bail he fainted. His lawyer said that the high bail was “a mockery” but the bail was unchanged. Check out the video of the collapse below.

It is said that Lil Wayne is trying to shop around a new tell-all book to some publishers. Tmz was able to get their hands on an excerpt from the memoir which was a crazy story about when Drake visited Wayne during his 8 month prison sentence. According to the excerpt Drake used this time to tell Lil Wayne that he slept with a woman that Wayne had been seeing though it was actually the day before he had met her. “This is the type of shit that a man never wants to find out when he’s locked up. Or, maybe so, cause only God knows what I would have done if I wasn’t locked up right now, finding out that she fucked Drake was the absolute worst thing I could’ve ever found out… As a man, honestly, that shit hurt … and not because it was Drake, it could have been any man. It would’ve hurt the same.” Drake apparently told Wayne he should stop seeing that female because he hooked up with her. This seems to be all we got for now but if this tell-all comes to light we will keep you up to date.

A$AP Rocky has been one of the biggest rappers out from the last few years. Rocky got signed and released a full complete and timeless album in a very short amount of time. His next album has been in production for a lot longer so we expect greater things from the young artist. While doing an interview with Billboard Rocky said that his album will be coming a lot sooner than people expected. Saying things like “Honestly, it’s finished” and “I’m mastering it right now. It’s coming soon. Seriously soon.”  Some features he announced were Clams Casino, Lykke Li, and FKA Twigs. If his next album is anything like his first album it will be a great addition to all of the other great albums coming out this year.

Copyright keeps popping up all around the music industry lately and the latest victim is Mac Miller. Though the mixtape game was once a safe haven from all the copyright stuff Mac had a song called “Therapy” on his 2014 album, Faces, that is now being targeted. The band wants $150,000 for the use of their song “Yesterday” being sampled on the track. Miller’s team says they reached out to the band but got no reply and moved forward with their project. Pharrell and Robin Thicke were found guilty of copyright infringement last week for their song “Blurred Lines”. With the two ordered to pay $7.3 million to the Marvin Gaye estate. For the first time today Pharrell opened up sharing his thoughts on the ruling. “The verdict hampers any creator out there who who is making something that might be inspired by something else, this applies to fashion, music, design… anything. If we lose our freedom to be inspired, we’re going to look up one day and the entertainment industry as we know it will be frozen in litigation.” Pharrell said when speaking to The Financial Times. Marvin Gayes children also want to include T.I., who was featured on the track, along with Universal, Interscope, and Star Trak in the suit so they will be getting even more money.

 

50 Cent went on twitter saying that his show Power would be returning to television on June 6^th. He included a small clip of the upcoming season as well as the quote “Empires are built on POWER” which was obviously a jab at the critically acclaimed show Empire. Joe Budden saw this tweet from 50 and quoted his tweet and wrote “They petty lol” which was a reference to another quote in the Power trailer “It only starts a war if they know you did it,” but 50 took it as a shot at his show and quickly replied

A$AP mob member A$AP Yams tragically passed away back on January 18^th and the cause of his death was unknown until now. The Chief Medical Examiner, Jon Caramanica, is now saying that Yams death was accidental. The cause was acute mixed drug intoxication which involved opiates and benzodiazepine.

Marianna Evans aka Rapsody had an interview with XXL where she talked a little about Kendrick Lamar. “I just think it’s the type of person he is and the type of music he makes, musically he’s very honest. He’s not apologetic in what he does. You can see how much energy and time he’s put into his craft and perfecting it. And just the execution of it and the emotion, that really comes through in his music. Coupled with the honesty. People get attached to that. It’s not fake. It’s not fluff. It’s real. He’s the type of artist who gives me the type of feeling like when I first heard Lauryn Hill, [they have] that same energy and spirit about them. That’s what I would think it is.” Rapsody said.

Earl Sweatshirt of hip-hop collective Odd Future has his sophomore album coming out next week. The album is titled “I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside.” The album will be arriving on March 23^rd with 10 songs and features like Vince Staples, Wiki, and Dash. Earl sent out some tweets that make it seem like there is an issue with the label and the release date but we will see what happens on the 23^rd.
