Jay Z has acquired champagne brand Armand de Brignac which is a luxury champagne brand. The New York Times is reporting that Jay-owned Sovereign Brands has acquired the brand of bubbly and added this statement. “We are proud to announce that Sovereign Brands, a New York-based wine and spirits company owned by the Berish family, has sold its interest in the Armand de Brignac Champagne brand to a new company led by the globally renowned Shawn ‘Jay Z’ Carter.”
The Los Angeles Laker Nick Young has been dating rapper Iggy Azalea for about a year now and seem to be taking their relationship to the next level. Young recently spoke with DuJour Magazine saying “Me and Iggy just bought a house. We’ve been getting really close lately. I’ve never been with somebody like this.” Then Nick was asked about a possible wedding in which he said “It’s come up a couple times.” But Hopefully Nick gets healed up soon and can get on the court for his 2014-2015 season debut.
Freddie Gibbs and his group were shot at multiple times while they were sitting in their GMC Denali SUV. This happened just after Gibbs performed at Rough Trade which is in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, New York. Right after the incident Gibbs took to instagram giving his followers an update on his status saying “Yep. Still Living. Thanks NYC,” Sources close to Freddie say that everyone is okay and that Gibb’s friend was hit in the knee but is recovering now.
A new feature called “Why are rap lyrics being used as evidence in court” was made by Noisey.com. In the publication it cites that even way back in the early 90s court cases would use rap lyrics. A rap scholar at the University of Richmond, Erik Nielson, says the use of lyrics as evidence has become widespread. “Lyrics are being used all throughout the criminal justice process. They’re being used in indictment hearings, they’re being used in actual trials, They’re being used in sentencing hearings. We know that they’re being used in less for ways, for example to compel a plea bargain.” One court case involved an aspiring rapper by the name of Vonte Skinner that was charged with attempted murder. The reports are that during his trial, that took place back in 2008, the New Jersey state prosecutors read 13 pages of lyrics written by skinner which got him convicted.
After having discussed Chris Browns relationship with Karrueche Tran on last night’s episode of The Real Talk show Chris took to instagram to talk about the hosts Adrienne Bailon and Tamar Braxton. Suge Knight Health has taken a turn for the worse according to TMZ Suge has passed out twice while behind bars and was taken to a hospital so that they could treat a possible blood clot in his lung. Sources say that Suge has been on blood thinners since he was shot but since his arrest he hasn’t been able to take them which could of lead to the blood clot.
Kendrick Lamar was quoted saying his new studio album could be “even more raw” then good kid, m.A.A.d city. He also added that he is keeping most of his producers in-house but has also worked with Dr. Dre. “If anything, aside from good kid, it’ll probably feel even more raw, because it’s a little more dirty with the live, dirty drums on it. It’s not something that’s contemporary with the MPC and you pressing different patterns and things like that, but we’ll see how it comes out…Everything’s really in-house.
