21 Savage Teams Up With Donald Glover For New Biopic, ‘American Dream: The 21 Savage Story’

21 Savage has revealed plans for his biopic, American Dream: The 21 Savage Story. The film will feature  Donald Glover, also known as Childish Gambino and actor Caleb McLaughlin.

In a recently released trailer that doubles as a music video for a brand new 21 Savage song, Donald Glover and Caleb McLaughlin take turns portraying 21 Savage at different stages of his life, including his infamous 2018 ICE detainment.

The Atlanta rapper faced detainment by ICE but was eventually released in 2019. His arrest was linked to his birth in the United Kingdom, followed by his relocation to Atlanta as a child, where he gained recognition. 

Subsequently, 21 Savage has achieved permanent U.S. citizenship. Furthermore, the trailer also showcases the involvement of Bel-Air star, Jabari Banks, who will play the role of Metro Boomin.

The project, titled American Dream: The 21 Savage Story, boasts a star-studded cast including comedian Druski, Natasha Lyonne, Gail Bean, Chad Lindberg, Victoria Pedretti, and more.

The trailer, directed by Donald and Stephen Glover, Jamal Olori, and Fam Udeorji, gives viewers a glimpse into the intense and visually stunning world of 21 Savage’s journey. The film is scheduled to premiere in theaters on July 4th, 2024, coinciding with Independence Day.

Donald Glover Gets Ready For Action In ‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith’ Trailer

Donald Glover is making waves in the entertainment world again as the co-creator and executive producer of the upcoming action series Mr. & Mrs. Smith. The “This is America” artist recently unveiled the trailer, sending fans into a frenzy.

Donald Glover, also known as Childish Gambino, recently shared an exciting trailer for the Mr. & Mrs. Smith series, featuring himself and Maya Erskine in the title roles, giving fans a glimpse into the show’s high-stakes missions, explosive action scenes, and thrilling plot. 

In the trailer, set to the tune of Shirley Bassey’s rendition of “(Where Do I Begin) Love Song,” Glover and Erskine are seen in action as an undercover agent couple. The teaser offers a sneak peek of high-speed chases, intense shootouts, and daring escapes from explosions. 

While the exact plot details remain under wraps, it is clear that the married duo leads a double life, posing as a regular couple while carrying out dangerous missions.

The Cast

Fans expressed their enthusiasm on social media, with many hailing the cast and the potential for the show. One user, @rei_estelar, commented, “THE CAST OMG SERIES OF THE YEAR,” while @ChanclerHaynes exclaimed, “GIMMIE this SHOW.”

Joining Glover and Erskine in Mr. & Mrs. Smith are talented stars such as Parker Posey, Wagner Moura, Michaela Coel, John Turturro, Paul Dano and others, although their roles are yet to be revealed. 

Mr. & Mrs. Smith brings a fresh and modern twist to the 2005 film that starred Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie as rival assassins. As an executive producer, Glover aims to deliver a gripping series combining thrilling action sequences and complex interpersonal relationships.

The highly anticipated series is set to premiere on February 2, 2024, exclusively on Prime Video.

On social media, the show has been compared to the fanbase of Beyoncé called “The BeyHive.” 

Furthermore, Glover’s production company, Gilga, was crucial in facilitating Malia Obama’s directorial debut. In April 2023, it was announced that Malia, daughter of former President Barack Obama, would make her first foray into directing with the support of Glover’s production company.
