Beyoncé’s Three-Act Project: Is A Second Release Imminent?

Beyoncé fans have been eagerly anticipating the release of her three-act project, and recent comments from singer, songwriter, and producer The Dream have sparked even more excitement.

‘MY HOUSE’

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday, Jan. 9, The Dream opened up about his collaboration with Beyoncé on Renaissance. The singer-songwriter discussed his challenges in crafting the track “MY HOUSE,” which was prominently featured in Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé.

The concert-documentary film delved into the creation of Queen Bey’s record-breaking Renaissance World Tour, which was released on Dec.1. Dream stated:

“How do we wrap Renaissance up in a way without also trying to compete with it or make something that’s light-Renaissance, because Renaissance is a special thing?”

Dozens of fans were excited to hear of the news of a possible release of “ACT 2,” as one user named @TonyTh3King wrote, “Most folks ain’t picked their Renaissance wigs up off the floor yet. You know I’m ready tho sis @Beyonce let’s go!”

ACT 2?

However, some fans believe that others are being rather ‘delusional.’ One user named @StevenKlenk wrote, “Maybe I’m delusional but am I the only one that thinks that they would have said “how do we wrap up THE Renaissance” if they really meant they were wrapping up the era? To me this sentence reads “how do we wrap up Renaissance” (a film by Beyonce) since it’s the credit song, idk.”

Queen Bey herself has referred to Renaissance as “ACT I,” hinting at the existence of subsequent acts. In a 2022  message preceding the release of her seventh studio album, she wrote:

“This three act project was recorded over three years during the pandemic. A time to be still, but also a time I found to be the most creative.”

R.I.P. Tina Turner

Additionally, rumors have surfaced that the “CUFF IT” singer will be performing a tribute to the late Tina Turner at this year’s 66th Annual Grammy Awards. Although the news has been confirmed by the Today Show, Beyoncé has yet to make an official announcement.

‘The Book of Clarence’ Soundtrack

While Beyoncé’s devoted fans eagerly await “ACT 2” of her Renaissance, other artists have also returned to music. Neo-soul icon D’Angelo recently returned after an eight-year hiatus, collaborating with Jay-Z on the soundtrack for the thought-provoking film Book of Clarence.

Katt Williams Calls Out Cedric The Entertainer, Steve Harvey, Kevin Hart & More In Fiery Interview

Katt Williams has unleashed a blistering attack on his fellow comedic legends. During a recent interview, the legendary comedian called out Cedric The Entertainer, Steve Harvey, Kevin Hart, and Rickey Smiley

Can’t Take A Joke

In an interview on the Club Shay Shay podcast released on Jan. 3, Williams vented about Cedric The Entertainer stealing one of his jokes from the past.

According to Williams, Cedric believed he could get away with it since Williams was a relatively unknown comedian at the time.

“He thought that I was just a no-name comedian, and that he could take this joke and nobody would know. The issue was that I had already done this particular joke on BET’s ComicView twice. It had done so well… that they made it part of the commercial,” Williams said.

Williams added:

“This is not just a random joke, this is my best joke…it’s my closing joke. 1998, I’m doing this joke…Cedric comes to The Comedy Store, he watches me in the audience, he comes backstage, he tells me what a great job I did and how much he loves the joke. Two years later, he’s doing that as his last joke on The [Original] Kings Of Comedy and he’s doing it verbatim, he just changed my car into a spaceship.”

WIlliams was referencing the comedy special movie, The Original Kings of Comedy. WIlliams also took a shot at Cedric by saying he looks like a walrus.

Cedric The Entertainer Responds

Cedric The Entertainer later responded to Williams on Instagram:

“Revisionist history, regardless of whatever Katts opinion My career can’t be reduced to One Joke Katt Williams claims as his, I been [in] over 40 movies, my specials and brand speaks volumes for [who] i am. The ppl I have put on including ‘Kat in the Hat’ At the Gibson Amphitheatre. And all that tough talk Is corny af Im [a] grown ass man. And none of that sh*t gonna go like you think. You do you and I got this over here.”

Katt Williams additionally called out Steve Harvey, Cedric’s co-star in The Original Kings of Comedy, accusing him of being involved in the joke Cedric allegedly stole. Williams claimed that the shared joke, originally crafted with comedian Mark Curry, was also appropriated by Harvey:

“This is the same Steve that went to go watch Mark Curry do his whole sitcom and then stole everything Mark Curry had. Now Steve got a sitcom where he’s the principal and he wear a suit.” The sitcom in question was The Steve Harvey Show and Curry’s Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper

Users on Twitter (X) reacted to Williams’ explosive interview. One user named @Teewhyfene commented “Katt Williams a legend and I’m happy he gets to get his truth heard,” and one other user named @Thats_wildddd commented, “He damn sure aint lyin Cedric never ever been funny to me and really just rode off the coat tails of all the other comedians in that “kings of comedy.”

Katt Williams Calls Out Rickey Smiley

Additionally, Williams targeted Rickey Smiley, debunking Smiley’s claims that he was originally cast as Money Mike in the movie Friday After Next. Williams accused Smiley of lying and mockingly criticized his acting skills. Williams questioned why Smiley had not been offered significant movie roles in recent years, stating:

“Rickey Smiley can’t act because Rickey Smiley can’t act.”

Unsurprisingly, Kevin Hart also found himself in Williams’ line of fire. Williams referred to Hart as an “industry plant,” insinuating that Hart’s rise to fame lacked the long underground career typically associated with successful comedians.

“In 15 years in Hollywood, no one in Hollywood has a memory of going to a sold out Kevin Hart show and being in line for him getting a standing ovation at any comedy club. What do you think a plant is?”

Williams said as he raised his voice. Williams also said that he is tired of the narrative of him being “bitter and jealous” during his comedy hiatus.

The full interview is now available on YouTube.

Stay Warm

In other news about Cedric The Entertainer, he recently teamed up with Houston rapper Trae The Truth by delivering blankets, jackets, and coats to the homeless shortly before New Years Day. Local media was there to capture the kind gesture from Trae and Cedric.

Kanye Says Cardi B Is An ‘Industry Plant’

One other celebrity that called fellow celebrities out was rap star Kanye West. In a leaked video from 2018, Kanye called out rapper Cardi B and said that she was an industry plant. He was also frustrated with producing songs for Pusha T, Nas, Teyana Taylor as well as others and not being appreciated.

Christian Rapper John Gabbana Questions Authenticity Of Rappers Converting To Islam

John Gabbana, formerly known as Boonk Gang, has caused a stir on social media with his recent comments. The Christian rapper called out the trend of rappers converting to Islam.

‘True World Religion’

On Dec. 29, John Gabbana took to Instagram to express his belief that Christianity is “the true world religion” and questioned the appeal of Islam. His remarks have ignited debates about religious choices and cultural influences in the entertainment industry.

In his Instagram video, Gabbana expressed his curiosity about the growing number of celebrities converting to Islam, stating:

“I’m starting to see celebrities convert to Islam like it’s a trend. It’s cool to be Muslim now.”

Why Islam?

The former rapper then proceeded to question the basis of Islam, highlighting that there is no evidence that Prophet Mohammed was indeed a prophet or the author of the Quran.

“I’m curious on one thing. What’s drawing y’all to Islam?” he continued, firing off an inquiry. “Do y’all know there’s no miraculous information that Mohammed was even a prophet? He didn’t even write the Koran.”

Gabbana also gave a quick history lesson about the origins of Christianity and Islam.

“Check this out: the Koran was gathered and put together 600 years after the events of Christianity. Now, why would we take a document written 600 years later to tell us what happened to Jesus when we have eyewitness testimonies to tell us what happened to Jesus?” he asked rhetorically. “It’s called the New Testament. It’s in your Bible. And the Muslim would claim the Bible is corrupt except where it helps their theology. Islam is not the true world religion. Christianity is.”

Religion Or Trend?

Users on Twitter (X) reacted to Gabbana questioning if converting to Islam is a trend.

One user named @bronisabeast commented, “I mean they call themselves religious and still have video clips with naked girls and stay gangbanging,” and one user named @wisdomquotient commented “John Gabbana raises an interesting point. The trend of rappers turning to Islam might reflect a growing appreciation for the values and culture within the community. It’s always intriguing to observe shifts in cultural and personal choices.”

Gabbana in another post responded to backlash by saying “had a supernatural encounter with God” before landing on Christianity.

“Instead of commenting foolishness under my post, grab you a pen n paper and start taking notes. U can learn a lot from watching n observing, stop always tryna be da one heard. Ya digg,” the caption reads.

Turning Over A New Leaf

The rise of celebrities converting to Islam is not a new phenomenon. Athletes and entertainers such as boxers Gervonta Davis, Devin Haney, and rappers Kevin Gates, Lil Durk, and NLE Choppa have all publicly embraced Islam in recent years.

With many entertainers converting to Islam, it adds to the list of others who have found God on a spiritual journey. Those celebrities include The Game, Mase, Michelle Williams, and others.

Will Finesse2tymes Find Redemption In Islam?

This controversy surrounding rappers converting to Islam is not isolated. In November 2023, Memphis rapper Finese2Tymes revealed his intentions to embrace Islam, eliciting a variety of responses on social media. Some fans on social media viewed it as a genuine spiritual pursuit, while others dismissed it as following a trend.

In other news with Trae The Truth, he was involved in beef with fellow Houston rapper Z-Ro. The two were involved in a fight at 50 Cent’s Tycoon  event in August 2022 and Trae later revealed that the beef between them was “internal.”

DJ Akademiks Accused Of Sexual Assault By Ex-Girlfriend

DJ Akademiks is now facing serious allegations. The controversial hip-hop blogger’s ex-girlfriend recently took to Instagram Live to accuse him of sexual assault. She claims that not only did Akademiks assault her, but he also had two of his friends join in the assault.

‘You Tried To Save Yourself’

On Dec. 30, DJ Akademiks’ ex-girlfriend, Ziya Abashae, took to her Instagram Live.

Abashae’s Instagram Live video exposed her harrowing experience with Akademiks. In the video, she stated that the alleged assault was not consensual and vehemently denied Akademiks’ claims.

“For you to pretend you didn’t do anything? That I just went to your house and I’m some thot, like we didn’t know each other for 2 years,” she said in the video. “You tried to save yourself after your friends assaulted me. Whether or not you got drunk or not. I know that when you woke up, you were on top of me too. You raped me too.”

More Revelations

Abashae further revealed that a rape kit had been conducted following the incident, debunking any doubts about the validity of her allegations.

“I look crazy right now but I’m not going to stand here and let this man continue to lie about me. That’s not what happened Akademiks, you know that’s not what happened.”

The video quickly gained traction online, prompting reactions from users on Twitter (X). One user, @HOTGIRLTAEGI, empathized with Abashae, commenting, “You can see it in her eyes she’s about to cry, this poor girl.” Another user, @_anonxyz, commented, “2024 is gonna be a bad year for a lot of y’all n*ggas. The year of exposing.”

Akademiks Denies Allegations

Abashae’s claims come after Akademiks said that the sexual activity between them and his friends was consensual. Akademiks took to his Twitter (X) account on Dec. 30 to deny Abashae’s claims by sharing a video with a woman, appearing to be Abashe screaming in the background.

“Fake news asf. this video is a drunk woman who never got smashed by no body friends lol shes screaming cuz she seen blogs posted a clip of me talking about her and it made her look bad. try again,” Akademiks said in the post.

Rapper Freddie Gibbs, who has been engaged in a longstanding feud with Akademiks, did not miss the opportunity to weigh in on the situation.

“@Akademiks quiet as a church mouse today happy new year U rapist ass b*tch,” and in another post, he commented, “ Hoe ass n*gga I’mma come to court and slap U.”

Despite the serious nature of the allegations, no charges or jail time have been announced for DJ Akademiks at this time.

DJ Akademiks was also involved in another controversy with rapper Saucy Santana. Their beef started in October 2023  when Akademiks made fun of the City Girls for low album sales and Santana defended them and released a diss track on Akademiks titled “Meet Me in The Skreets.”

Cassie Vs. Diddy

One notable case of sexual assault involved rap mogul Diddy, who was accused by his ex-girlfriend Cassie of sexual assault and rape during their relationship. The lawsuit was settled just a day later.

Bun B Says Megan Thee Stallion Embodies Pimp C’s Legacy

Bun B recently spoke about the late Pimp C and how he sees shades of the legendary artist in rising star Megan Thee Stallion. The Houston rapper suggested that the “Cobra” rapper embodies qualities reminiscent of Pimp and notes that it might be surprising for people to see these characteristics expressed by a woman.

Bun B Speaks

Bun B, who was Pimp C’s longtime partner in the rap duo UGK, recently shared his thoughts on today’s generation that shares similarities with the late artist. He expressed:

“I see that in most people.. like Megan Thee Stallion embodies a lot of what Pimp represented. I think that’s why it was so jarring for people to see it coming from a woman.”

Pimp C & Meg

Pimp C, a member of UGK alongside Bun B, passed away in 2007 at the age of 33 due to an overdose on codeine and promethazine, leaving a lasting impact on the Houston hip-hop scene.

Megan Thee Stallion has been vocal about the influence the late artist has had on her artistry. She often references Pimp C and his impact on the Houston hip-hop scene, where her alter ego, Tina Snow, is a nod to Pimp C’s Tony Snow persona.

Megan’s debut EP, Tina Snow, released in 2018, showcased her biggest hits like “Big Ole Freak” and “Freak Nasty,” further solidifying the connection to Pimp C’s legacy.

‘I Know A Star When I See One’

Chinara Butler, Pimp C’s widow, has also recognized Megan Thee Stallion’s talent. In an Instagram post in 2019, Butler congratulated Megan and referred to her as her “Trill Goddaughter,” writing:

“Lol I know a star when I see one #Congratulations to my #TrillGodDaughter @theestallion now you have everything you nrrf eith @rocnation as Management #Loveit and I’m hold on to a couple of Unreleased verses of #PimpC just for you!!! Get ‘em #TinaSnow.”

Furthermore, the rap sensation has embarked on a new chapter in her musical journey by transitioning into an independent artist, distancing herself from the complex relationship with her former label, 1501 Entertainment. Notably, Megan has entered a fresh phase in her career by signing a new distribution deal with Warner Music Group.

KRS-One Disses The Grammys & Explains Why He Declined ‘50 Years of Hip-Hop’ Invite

KRS-One shared his displeasure with the Grammys in a recent interview. The rap legend discussed the recent 50th-anniversary celebration, A GRAMMY Salute to 50 Years of Hip-Hop, and why he declined his invitation.

KRS-One Talks The Grammys

In an interview with Harold St. Louis on Dec. 12, KRS-One explained why he turned down a personal invite from fellow rap legend LL Cool J to perform at A GRAMMY Salute to 50 Years of Hip-Hop, which took place on Sunday, Dec. 10.

Hip-Hop ‘Ignored For 49 Years’

KRS-One says he refused to attend because the award show “ignored hip-hop for 49 years”:

“I was asked about two months ago; they asked me to do it and I turned them down,” he said. “With all due respect, LL Cool J J himself called me, spoke to my wife and pretty much begged for me to be on the show but we turned him down. And reason being is because I know people don’t understand this , and I say this respectfully. KRS-One is a Hip Hop extremist. I’m not violent, a violent extremist. I’m insane with this culture. I know I must have lost my mind in this.”

The hip-hop legend continued to go in-depth on his bone to pick with the Grammys:

“I restrict myself in a certain way, because I know who I am in this culture. Never will you ever see me standing in the environment where our culture is being exploited.” He then added, “So when I got the call, I immediately said nah. First of all, it’s the Grammys? You get no respect here. None. Now we respect your existence, we know you exist. And we know that you’re the Grammys and we understand that and we respect that. But you ignored Hip Hop for 49 years. At the 50th year, you wanna call us? You couldn’t even call on 47 and gear it up to 50. You wait to the 50th year to call Hip Hop’s authentic teacha? Nah, you don’t get that privilege.”

Hip-Hop Boycotts The Grammys

The Grammys has a history of being accused of “ignoring” or “disrespecting” hip-hop for decades.

One notable boycott was in 1989 when Will Smith, who went by his rap name The Fresh Prince, and DJ Jazzy Jeff decided not to attend the Grammys that year after noted and won the award for “Best Rap Performance.” The Grammys told the duo that their award presentation would not be televised, and they thought it was disrespectful.

Other rappers such as Salt-N-Pepa, LL Cool J, and executive Russell Simmons among others, followed suit and supported the hip-hop boycott.

KRS-One Talks Israel-Palestine Conflict

In other news, KRS-One also shared his thoughts on the conflict between Israel and Palestine. In an interview with SOHH, KRS-One felt that both sides were wrong, but Israel shouldn’t own Palestinian land.

Nicki Minaj Goes Off On The Grammys

Another rapper who spoke out against the Grammys was rap superstar Nicki Minaj. In an Instagram live, she argued that her song, “Super Freaky Girl,”  was nominated in the wrong category, but was eventually completely left out.
