LaTavia Roberson Brings Healing & Inspiration With Beyoncé’s ‘Renaissance’ Film

LaTavia Roberson, the original member of Destiny’s Child, is currently making waves. SOHH had the opportunity to interview the former Destiny’s Child singer, during which she introduced a new era focused on healing and philanthropy.

The Le Papillon Foundation

On Sunday, December 17, LaTavia Roberson held a private screening of Beyoncé’s concert film, titled Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé, on behalf of her non-profit organization, Le Papillon Foundation, at the iPic Theater in Houston, TX. Before the private screening, Roberson shared prominent words as she stated:

“This is for my non-profit organization, Le Papillon Foundation, and that means the butterfly in French. And the reason why I like to reach out to young girls, is to just show them that no matter what, you are beautiful.”

A Mini-Reunion

LaTavia’s event brought together former Destiny’s Child member LeToya Luckett and other attendees to celebrate entertainment, healing, and growth through Beyoncé’s Renaissance film, which was released on Friday, Dec. 1. LaTavia highlighted the significance of the film and why she chose the film to screen, stating:

“What I got from it is how girls can see how she [Beyoncé] transformed what she had in her mind. It did not take her overnight, it did not take her all day. I want the girls to be entertained and to be educated.”

On behalf of LaTavia, it has been a “Renaissance,” for herself. The singer/entrepreneur has consistently prioritized her personal journey, envisioning the approaching year of 2024 as a period of “restoration and healing.” Roberson even states she’s working on new projects and that fans can look forward to seeing more of her when she says:

“Now it’s just my time and I’m ready to shine.”

This sentiment mirrors the theme emphasized in the concert film, where Queen Bey expressed that their reunion symbolized a “new birth” and a process of healing. In their hometown of Houston, TX, the original members of Destiny’s Child reunited at the Renaissance World Tour, where LaTavia hosted the film premiere as well.

Blac Chyna Stars On ‘Special Forces’

Former Destiny’s Child Member LaTavia Roberson Opens Up About Her Painful Departure

Former and original Destiny’s Child member LaTavia Roberson recently opened up about her struggles and painful departure from the renowned girl group. In an emotional interview, she shared her “Confessions” and spoke about the deep hurt she endured.

‘A Bad Divorce’

On Dec. 4, LaTavia Roberson’s interview with Carlos King gave an intimate glimpse into her previous experiences. Reflecting on her departure from Destiny’s Child, Roberson stated:

“It wasn’t just about my losing my friends. It was like, a marriage gone bad. A bad divorce, to where it’s sometimes hard to speak about those things. It’s something that I really can’t describe, because it was such a whirlwind when it happened. It was just hurt.”

Roberson’s words resonate with fans, where one user named @beingmahogany wrote, “You could tell the issue wasn’t the members but management. But the media fed it to us for the drama. The world was cheated from what the original DC could’ve been!!! Ugh..”

‘DC3’

Destiny’s Child, formed in Houston, Texas, in 1990, originally consisted of Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, LaTavia Roberson, and Letoya Luckett. While the group started as a quartet, internal conflicts and allegations of favoritism and unfair pay led to the departure of Roberson and Luckett.

Michelle Williams and Farrah Franklin joined as replacements, but Franklin’s tenure was short-lived, ultimately solidifying Destiny’s Child as the iconic trio known as “DC3.”

Destiny’s Child Reunion

After overcoming their differences, Letoya and LaTavia recently reunited with Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland in their hometown of Houston, TX.

They were present at Queen Bey’s Renaissance Tour and Beyoncé’s Renaissance film premiere. The reunion was also featured in Bey’s Renaissance film, where she stated, “It was like a new birth for us, and a lot of healing.”

Migos Reunion: R.I.P. Takeoff

Roberson’s candid interview brings to mind other recent reunions in the music industry where artists set aside differences for a common goal. The Migos, despite their internal conflicts, recently united to pay tribute to the late Takeoff, who tragically passed away at the age of 28.
